Diesel is I think $2.50 a gallon right now, gas is $2.39 a gallon, but the lowest I've seen it was $1.90 a few months ago. Diesel sat at $2.45-$2.50 for a long time. There's shittons of diesels up here, specifically lifted cummins Rams because of all the hillbillies, and I think they're retarded.
Diesels are better for torque, but gas engines usually do better for horsepower, and newer technology is making them better and better.
The 3.5L V6 in the Tacoma puts out I think 280hp and around 280lb/ft of torque, but the Tacoma can tow up to 7,000 pounds. My 99 F150 with the 5.4L V8 put out 380lb/ft of torque and 250hp and was able to tow only 7,000 pounds too. The newer 3.5 ecoboosts put out I think around 400hp and 380lb/ft of torque, and tow up to 12,000 pounds. The Tacoma 3.5 gets 23mpg highway, the ecoboost 3.5 gets I think 29 highway. The best diesel we have on the market gets maybe 25-30mpg, and doesn't put out near that much power.
Again, gas is cheaper here atleast where I live, so going with a diesel doesn't offset the costs of fuel in most cases.

First of all, we don't have the same gun culture as the US, because our country isn't based on a militia fighting off a military force. Second, we've never needed guns, because we don't have niggers. Even our cops didn't carry guns until terrorism became an issue a two or three years ago.

As for our welfare system, it actually works in Norway. I don't mind the gun regulation we have in Norway, but I also believe they should only apply to Norway. As I said, we have a different history and a different attitude towards the government, and no one in Norway really needs guns for self-defense... yet. As you said, it's just a tool, and just like you have to register your car, you have to register your gun. It's not really a problem for me, because a gun doesn't really represent anything other than a gun in Norway. There's really no debate about guns being inherently evil like in the US. Our gun clubs even arrange family events.
That being said, I don't believe America would benefit from Norway's gun regulations, because your society is radically different from ours. While I don't agree with all the arguments made by the NRA, I do believe you should keep your liberal gun laws simply because of your history, culture and need for self-defense.

While I agree that there's excessive bureaucracy and that the taxes are too high, I still support the welfare system. There's virtually no poverty in Norway and we have one of the lowest unemployment rates in the western world even after the oil price crashed. Our welfare system is heavily based around reeducating people who go on welfare or giving them a temporary salary until they can get back to work. This is exceedingly useful if you lose your job because of an economic recession or for other reasons, because you're able to sustain your lifestyle and keep your home while you look for work. It's also limited to a three year period, so it's not that easy to exploit.
In practise, Norway spends roughly the same on welfare per capita as the US, while most European countries spend less. Granted, your huge minority population is partially to blame.
