It's a fairly useful subject for a much wider range of careers though. I know a few people who ended up in cozy council jobs off a law degree despite it being only very tangentially relevant. It just teaches useful skills for administrative roles beyond law itself. Much easier to sell in an interview than a lot of degrees.

You're definitely right though, that's been my recent change of tack. Even things like pension admin (I'd kind of rather die but at least it's a job) and I seem to be getting half decent responses. Definitely more so than in Engineering where everybody expects you to have a PhD and 10 years experience for £25k/year.
