You know the best part about this referendum?

Merkel's butthurt is at an all time high.

Actually makes us burgers kind of jealous, we couldn't get germany to hate us that much if we tried, and oh did we try.
>>
>>79240535

It doesn't seem sustainable. If there is to be any law at all, the amount of prisons will have to quintuple. There will be no end of identity and race politics.

I think one of the EU goals is to lower the expectations of the governed. To migrants, you could halve the quality of life and they would still be impressed, while the natives who are used to twice the standards they suffer now simply perish to outbreeding.

It's going to be May

Boris is great but he looks far too much of a nutter to be taken seriously. Gove would be great but the public doesn't trust him enough after his education run

What we really need now is Thatcher 2.0

During it'a routine patrol our nuclear submarine, HMS Vanguard encountered the Russian northern fleet in the North sea, 300 miles off the coast of Yorkshire. During the altercation it was sunk by the Russian ship K-560 Severodvinsk, a nuclear powered attack submarine. Fourty seven minutes later a Russian Jet, the Tupolev Tu-22M struck at HMNB Clyde, destroying the three other Vanguard-class submarines capable of launching nuclear weapons. The UK now has zero ability to launch it's nuclear deterrent and effectively doesn't have one.

This didn't actually happen, but what if it did?

You can't really shittalk them when it comes to raw military power. I was in Portsmouth when one of their carriers visited and it couldn't even fit in the harbour so it had to anchor off the coast and ferry people in. They have like 20 of them.

You can all fuck right off. How dare you tell me how to feel! I am an adult you half witted morons. I work for a company that does a lot of trade in the EU and has it's headquarters there. There is a real chance you have screwed up my future. I would not blame my company one bit for moving all of our production to Poland or Germany. Yeah we've got great history and lots to be proud of how does leaving the EU change that! It's not going to let us go back in time a cherry pick the greatest moments of the last 50 years and let us all relive only the good bits. I am ashamed right now of the selfish decision we've made (due to "proud" people like you) I am going to have to live with it. Baby boomers by any chance, older? You've fucked my generation and the younger ones still to come over too many times. It's not a socialist power trip! We get/ got lots of benefits and we helped do a lot of good. Sure it could have been less wasteful and better. Any chance of us being part of making that better is gone you'd rather run away from the problems clearly you cowards. Do you even have any European friends? I do and they are almost as upset and frustrated as I am. Have faith? Fuck off mates. I'd rather have a plan and be part of something greater than the sum of it's parts. Thanks to people like you were out the EU and everything that's shit about England at the moment isn't going to get fixed the EU has been made a scapegoat or some really not that important problems and you've fucked us because of it. Don't you go on about forefathers you stupid backward looking asses. I'm a bad person? You know fuck all about me, piss off. I am ashamed to be British and especially ashamed to be English right now. I feel sick and I want some strong black man to hug me while I cry.

>re-watching this, I'm reminded of how glad I am that Scottish Labour was violently destroyed.

Labour deserves to be fucked for how fucking completely out of touch it is and how pretentiously they look down on the electorate.

The past few days are a great example of this, Corbyn has the massive super majority of support in his party, but because the MP's don't want to go the direction of the membership and finally accept blairism and the neoliberal ideal is dead, they white ant Corbyn from day one, paralyze the opposition from functioning, then blame Corbyn for their own refusing to ever work with him.

I go talk on Labour boards and talk to other anti-Corbyn Labour members and I shit you not, this is their plan:

>Purge Corbyn
>Put in place a "moderate" (Blairite)
>Work with the Conservatives
>The community will vote us back into power in a snap election.

That's it, that is their entire plan. They think Blairism is the solution to their problem. They say the electorate has been moving to the right, but they ignore this is because there has been no working class left for near 30 years in mainstream politics and when it reappeared at the Labour leadership election last year, they collectively shit themselves.

These idiots don't realize Neoliberalism is dead and the reason they are becoming irrelevant is because why in fuck would you vote for red tories when you can just vote tories?

It's actually crazy how much the PLP and it's sychophants are with the political reality. For the past 3 days, I've had "IT WORKED IN 1997" thrown in my face.

Yeah, no major event or change in the political landscape since 1997, can't think of a single fucking one.

Labour is fucked. The hilarious thing is, these Blairites are complaining that "The left is hijacking the Labour party" while Thatcher called New Labour "her greatest achievement since it continued so many of her policies"

EU: "No."
Sturgeon: "But we want to be in the EU"
EU: "If only there were some kind of method of extracting Scotland from the UK and keeping it in the EU...A sort of 'Scottish Independence' if you will..."

>Following a summit of 27 EU leaders in Brussels, he told a news conference: "I want to be very clear Scotland does not have the competence to negotiate with the European Union.
i.e. it's basically the obvious "Sturgeon cannot stop Brexit" as opposed to "We will veto an independent Scotland joining the EU", if Scotland left the UK then it would have the competence to make such negotiations.

A large part of this is just people spouting platitudes.

It's not about being left/right. The Blairites had one thing right: the electorate are fucking idiots. All Labour needs is an attractive young man with a good speaking voice to lead them and explain their policies in a way that makes them seem like a steady pair of hands and they would be laughing regardless of policy.

I mean seriously. Look at all the "too left wing" Labour candidates and it's very easy to tell that regardless of policy, none of them was a PM in waiting. Foot? Kinnock? Milliband? Fuck policy, they were never going to win.

It's worth noting the electorate is to the left on many issues including rail and power nationalization.

>>
>>79248312
>ALL research shows that Labour's electoral losses are caused by being too far left.

I think this ignores certain things.

One of the biggest problems for the left in the UK isn't so much the electorate, but the media. The media never, ever accepts actual working class left wing arguments as legitimate. Corbyn, which 30 years ago was a bog standard Social Democrat, is now a radical communist maoist insurgent.

The Overton window has now shifted largely to a debate between nativist populism and neoliberalism, anything outside that debate is considered "extremist". The reason the media was so against Brexit, is not because of the racism or xenophobia, but because the mainstream media has sided with Neoliberals and is filled with neoliberals, in reaction, the right wing media has gone nativist/nationalist (alt-right) because they know the public is turning against the Neoliberal argument.

If you actually look at the VIEWS of the electorate. All parties are actually quite far to the right of where people want to be: People want protectionist policies, people want nationalization, people want strong unions, but nobody in any of the major parties really supports any of this. This is where Corbyn comes in. Look at rail nationalization, almost unanimous support among the public, who is the only MP who supports it? Corbyn.

Here is the sad truth about Politics, policy doesn't matter. The vast, vast majority of the electorate vote the way the media tells them to vote. If the media wanted, UKIP could win the next election, but you would have to see a massive ideological shift away from neoliberalism for that to happen.

>Merkel and Brussels have outright already refused an EEA+ agreement that gives UK migration control, passporting and single market access.

>What is passporting? All banks registered in UK have a "passport" that allows them to do business with whole EU. The City depends on it.

>Base case is Berlin and Brussels plan to insist on an EEA- (i.e. a worse deal than Norway) that excludes passporting, migration controls.

>This would however allow services to continue to have access to the singoe market. But not financial services. Mass migration continues.

>This is formal offer. But Paris is planning a turn of cynical brilliance - that could at a stroke smite London and restore Paris to glory.

>France cynicallly intends to offer Britain an EEA- that excludes passporting, but givs them a migration cap, and single market access.

>This is a brilliant move: "you get less Poles, but we want your banks." It would be in France's interests to encourage UK out to get banks.

>But the cynical French deal would be exactly the kind of cap migration, free movement for us and single market deal that the public want.

>The next Tory muchkin leader would then be a hideous position: have his tax base slasshed at by loss of banks as his voters rejoice.

>Paris and Frankfurt would emerge as enormous winners by ending passporting. Hugely boosting popularity of French and German leadership.

>British public will be left moronically clapping the huge triumph of a few less Poles and the punishment for "bankers" and tax base slashed.

>City analysts I met look with unbrindled distain on a Tory leadership class they think are simply muppets. No clue what's about to hit them.

>Conclusion: No matter the outcome UK financial sector is FUCKED and bye bye to banks. London collapses. Banks abandon England. Meanwhile the British people are cheering this on as a win.

Not really. 30 years ago he was still on the left of the labour party.
His policies now as articulated, perhaps. [For all he's perceived as a right-on nationalizer, as far as I can work out he even has the meme commitment to cutting the deficit down.] but his preferences as they were 30 years ago would've been to the left.

For all he's maligned, Kinnock sort of hit social democracy on policy a bit better. One has to wonder how John Smith would've handled being granted power without a fight in 1997.

Think as we've seen, there's still a lot of working class voters. It's only very recently Tories have taken favour and honestly thats probably mostly due to Labour being such a fuck up for 13 years (and now this Blaire-ite revolt may well make them unelectable).
People trust Conservatives with an economy but there's still a lot of distrust of them, they're often perceived as the rich and elite trying to line the pockets of their friends (which of course, in reality, most politicians, from any party, are).

>sound like a man of the people
There's misconception here. He doesn't have to "be" (better put: fit into) any echelon of the population to serve in their interests. This brings in another misconception - short term/long term economic vision. Nige recognises that trade deals, the exchange rate (lower GBP:USD/EUR) and emphasis on domestic transactions guarantees a better socioeconomic climate for the UK. It's overly simplistic, but you can think of importation as leaking money out of the country, exportation stealing from others. The economic model that presents itself from us leaving puts a far greater incentive on the protectionist model where domestic business feeds off of each other, minimising that leakage. It's a vision of the future, and what China has been very very quietly doing for the last 40 years (hardcore the last 15), and it's brought them from a starving nation to the second economy of the world. Soon enuogh they will hold the crown.

This is, however, inaccesible insight to the majority of the population and they won't be able to take it on board until they see the effects themselves. Which is a big shame, but as long as Nige can keep up the level of zeal and public inclusion into this "Leave" pack mentality, we should get there without any hiccups.

This is the most exciting time to be alive in a long long time.

It's possible as events develop this won't be the case. We're into uncharted territory, after all. Even moreso than 2014.
>Spain would be likely to veto an independent Scotland joining the EU amid fears it could encourage Catalonia to seek its own independence.
This is a meme though.

The position of Spain is that Catalonia cannot leave because it would be unconstitutional in Spain, as opposed to "we hate self determination", Similarly Kosovo independence isn't constitutional in Serbia so they don't recognize it.
Scotland leaving with recognition from the UK would be within the UK's "constitution" so to speak, and so Spain would on the contrary have to allow Scottish entry or make it laughably obvious that their true position is hatred for self-determination.

While Spain would obviously prefer not to be put in that position at all [Save for Spanish fishermen hoping to get at Scottish waters.], once put in it their behaviour towards Scotland is far from naturally hostile.

When I said veto, I really should've said opt-out for clarification.

There's a lot you're failing to understand about why London is the financial capital of the world, and why it's going to take a lot to usurp that.

First, Britain secured an exception from the EU's banking union project which was directly responsible for the eurozone crisis in 2009. Had they been subject to it, London would have crashed along with you. It basically subjects financial institutions to a single authority called the European Central Bank. London's banks have the Bank of England with sole responsibility for maintaining financial stability, an institution they have enormous trust in.

The BoE decides how much capital the banks need to hold against their assets, decides banker bonus caps and limits the maximum amount of capital people can take out in loans. This is finely tuned in an almost symbiotic relationship with the needs of the City.

The EU's central bank also favours much more regulation of the banking sector, which is partly why only London and Zurich are the only cities in Europe with truly flourishing financial centers, they're both outside the remit of this heavy regulation.

Currently Brussels also has caps on banker bonuses which Britain relaxes. There's a whole list of shit the EU does which simply stifles the industry but I don't have the space for it here.

Britain will be asking for the passport in exchange for no tariffs on European goods being sold into Britain. The multinational banks and the multinational corporations will all want this deal to happen - so I think it will.

>We're into uncharted territory, after all.
True enough, but it's probably better to go by what we know such as membership requirements, what other member states are actually saying, the historical evidence of other countries with even more to offer trying to join and so forth.

I think it's quite fair to say Scotland's only chance is the EU allowing them a special pass simply to spite the UK.

Britain has also been fighting against a "robin hood" tax Brussels wants to impose on the financial sector, but now Britain is out of that fight since it left the EU. The Banks themselves don't want to be in Europe under the ECB. They want to be in London with the BoE and the lax regulation the British impose on them.

No it doesn't.
It means we'd have to commit to the vague ideal of joining the Euro. Scotland could not currently join the Euro even if it wanted to do so.

Sweden is "on track" to joining the Euro, but because they refuse to enter ERM2 and ERM2 membership for 2 years is required to join the Euro, Sweden will almost certainly never join the Euro.

May's appointment as Minister for Women and Equality was initially criticised by some members of the LGBT/gay rights movement,[108] since she had voted against lowering the age of consent (in 1998) and against greater adoption rights for homosexuals (in 2002), though she had voted in favour of civil partnerships.[109][110] May later stated, during an appearance on the BBC's Question Time, that she had "changed her mind" on gay adoption.[111] Writing for Pink News in June 2010, May clarified her proposals for improving LGBT rights including measures to tackle homophobia in sport, advocating British society's need for "cultural change".[112]

On 2 July 2010, May stated she would be supporting the previous Labour Government's Anti-Discrimination Laws enshrined in the Equality Act 2010 despite having previously opposed it.[113] The Equality Act came into effect in England, Wales and Scotland on 1 October 2010.[114] She did however announce that a clause she dubbed "Harman's Law"[115] which would have required public bodies to consider how they can reduce socio-economic inequalities when making decisions about spending and services[116] would be scrapped on the grounds that it was "unworkable".[117]

In May 2012, May expressed support for the introduction of Same-Sex Marriage by recording a video for the Out4Marriage campaign.[118]

May was succeeded as Minister for Women and Equalities by Maria Miller in September 2012, but retained her role as Home Secretary

Yes, it does. Sweden hasn't qualified for it yet. only Denmark and the UK have secured exceptions. No new members will be able to secure these exemptions, and Scotland won't have anything close to the political negotiating power the UK had to secure one anyway.

> under the Treaty, all EU Member States have to join the euro area once the necessary conditions are fulfilled, except Denmark and the United Kingdom which have negotiated an 'opt-out' clause that allows them to remain outside the euro area.

http://ec.europa.eu/economy_finance/euro/adoption/index_en.htm

This process is not just words. They will be actively gearing your finances to adopt the euro and filly integrate into the United States of Europe. Seems like a rather pointless push for independence.

Let's truncate that:

I'm still not convinced Scotland would leave the union given a second chance. This is all false association being created by Nicola Merkel and Alex "Nicola Sturgeon gives me fried pig knuckles to snack on in Commons if I shill for her" Salmond.

38% wanted out of the EU which means they would need to be certain the 62% that voted out would have enough overlap with the people that voted to leave the UK to guarantee it. Something that, without a guarantee that they would still be in the EU, I can't see the Scottish "Parliament" going along with.

In short, first Scotland outside of Nicola Sturgeon has to actually push for a second referendum which they will only do if they can guarantee a place in the EU, then they have to actually convince parliament to give them a second referendum, then they have to be certain that enough people will actually vote out which they can't be certain of because their only evidence is false equivalence.

Not necessarily.

Let's assume you believe in full independence for Scotland. No UK, no EU.
You might've voted for Brexit, but are you seriously going to turn down the chance to get Scotland out of the UK even if it means remaining in the EU for a while? especially with the knowledge a second failure will result in the death of Scottish independence as a serious cause, while "Scotland voted out of the UK to stay in the EU" is perhaps only a 10 year setback?

>I can't see the Scottish "Parliament" going along with.
