To the people who are against torrenting, why should I buy something in which I could acquire for free?
>>
butthole!
>>
There's literally no reason.

>It takes up disk space!
Have you fucking seen how cheap external hard drives are nowadays?

>muh data usage
get an infinite plan or get out

Other than that I really think it all boils down to ethics. Now it's up to you to decide if you want to financially support the thing you enjoy.

But see that's the interesting part. People who make quality media NEVER have to worry about not making money on it, even if they offer it for free because people give money to people who make decent shit just because. It's the millions of scam artists, grindhouses and shit peddlers who need DMCA bullshit and hate torrenting because they know what they make is a cynical cashgrab and isn't worth paying money for.

Ah yeah there are a lotta sorta low key con artists out there for nothing other than a cashgrab. With me arguement I was mainly going towards video games because I pirate some and when I tell my friends they get all super defensive, calling me a scumbag and then proceed to watch their favourite anime or show on those shitty bundy-ass streaming websites. Hypocrites desu
>>
I support people who do good things. If I enjoy a game Ill buy it if im able because I enjoyed it. Other then that..
>>
>>70888532
Because if you don't, there will soon be nothing to watch but jewtube.
>>
>>70888532
cause you want them to keep making it. if they can go work ad McDonalds and make more money they will probably stop doing that
>>
>>70890286

You can buy an internal 3tb hard drive for 100$

Let's say that you earned a living by writing books. And eaxh one took you 6months of researxh and work to produce. But every time you wrote a book, somebody turned into into a .pdf and put it online for free.

How motivated would you be to write your next book?
>>
>>70893660
People will still buy the book to support the author. If someone was never planning to pay for it they shouldn't be obligated to purchase. The author should be glad that he is getting free exposure. There is nothing wrong with me downloading entertainment and then not paying if I am not happy with the product.

Filesharing is not theft because theft involves a removal of the original good. Because of the intangible nature of computer media, my having a copy of a film doesn't impact the source I copied it from.

An argument against filesharing that holds more weight is the impact on the profit of the producer. If I would have spent $20 on the film, but instead found out online, wherever that money would have gone is now safely with me. Multiplied, this could affect the producer's ability to make more of the product.
Even if I know I wouldn't have bought the film, if I'm seeding on a public client I'm now enabling the potential loss of revenue for the company.

I see it as my own judgement call whether I want to support a company. In a free market I don't have any obligation to the accruement of wealth for other people, and the law rightly doesn't interfere with what I do on my own computer.
>>
>>70893905
>people will buy the thing because they a generally nice

No they won't, only a small percentage would

So you work hard and all the faggots enjoy it for free

Torrenting literally destroys creativity and forces creators to make and market to minorotoes like sjws and numales because they pay for the thing
>>
>>70888532
>why should I buy something in which I could acquire for free?
Because you enjoyede this and want to thanks authors and also make another his creation possible.
In all other cases just pirate em.
>>
>>70890938
What if it's overvalued?

I enjoy watching anime to get to sleep, but with blu-rays at ~$80 per 12 episodes, watching 13 or so shows each season totals $4.2k pa. wasted on entertainment.

I'd tip a good busker if I saw one, but not if he enforced a $100 minimum donation threshold
>>
Which VPN should i be using that doesn't slow down my download speeds so i don't get sued by mr goldstein?
>>
>>70890502
> even if they offer it for free because people give money to people who make decent shit just because
Come on now, they never make anything remotely close to what they would have made if they required the product to be paid for
>>
>>70888532
Sometimes out of convenience I'll just buy a game rather than having to deal with repacks and glitches or the other shady shit that comes with pirated games.
But movies, books, applications or TV shows
Besides the fact there has not been a good movie to come out in months, TV shows are completely outdated. I see kids watching the latest episode of what every while underground in the subway with no connection.
Who has time to fit their schedule around a TV show? And cable television. Why pay for a few hundred channels you never watch(While once again I only watch 5-7 shows). I don't even have cable anymore.

The Netflix model of releasing entire seasons on one day is the way to go

The large 3TB Hard drives are better for archiving things and more prone to failure if you use it as your main HDD

>mfw the first computer I ever owned had 34GB on it and lasted for years without deleting much of anything
>Now my my 1TB HDD is packed to the brim with movies I only watched once and TV shows I'll never watch again
And I use to wonder how people could possibly fill 5 TB of porn across multiple hard drives

So you guys are against GIBSMEDAT but torrenting shit for free is fine?
>>
>>70890859
>video games
so the cash grab argument is completely in effect. If we were talking about music however, I'd much rather have scrobbles under my belt than dollars, and most decent artists believe the same. In fact the only artist I know of that particularly care about copyright infringement is Metallica.

Israel needs money, OP.

Hey, do you like sodas? The Jews make a soda maker that makes soda so you can pay Jews for soda instead of Coca-Cola.

>not understanding that intangible goods (such as trademarks, designs, trade secrets, other intangible intellectual property, etc) is something that legal systems all over the world can consider stolen, as one might consider a stolen car or a stolen loaf of bread.

nice armchair-lawyering though

Because jail.

>anime
>blu-rays
Why?
Anime is like 12 fps with straight lines, there are no need to do high-def to show details.

Feels good to be so young that I've never had to pay for anything.
