You produce goods, and you want to trade them.
There are many people available to buy them, and all have money: do you try to trade with the one taxed to hell and back because he's not in the fucking union?
Or, do you expect people to buy stuff from the UK when it's clearly not convenient for them?
I am not saying that trades will stop altogether because that would be hilariously stupid. I'm just saying that's something you should consider. I would consider that.

German industrial leaders have warned that it would be "very, very foolish" to impose trade barriers if Britain laves the European Union.
The message undermines repeated threats from the country's political leaders that Brexit would severe ties with the single market.
Markus Kerber, the head of the BDI, which represents German industry, said his organisation would make the case against such measures.
>>78140224
> do you try to trade with the one taxed to hell and back because he's not in the fucking union?
Funny, because even if the taxation increased 3-4x what it is (it won't) our net gain will still increase due to taxation lowering on the majority of our trade, which is outside the EU.
So yes, I think about it. I think that its a stupid thing to care about.

Also that said, I'm not actually saying that you should stay. Honestly I'm quite curious to see what will happen. It's a good experiment, UK is a strong nation and it's very cool to see if it is doable. Because it goes unsaid that if you leave that would be the first piece of the domino to fall, or how you say that. Maybe the EU is just a phase we had to do as a continent, and maybe we still can leave in peace without it.

Trade has changed. The Euro's 'trade bloc' is an outdated and redundant feature which has not kept up with the times.
How is it I can do 'trade' with Amazon who uses British prices when their home office is not even in the EU?
The advancement of tech like the internet and the spreading of globalisation is simply making such 'trade leagues' pointless to put up now.

Stop pretending anything good is going to happen if you leave.
We've agreed that you're leaving for sovereignty. The question is not whether that will hurt trade and finances, it's whether it will be by any noticeable degree and whether the returned sovereignty will be able to fix that in due time.

Its in the EU's interest not to tax the fuck out of trade to the UK, so they won't. Companies won't allow the EU to do it.
It will increase, but the amount to which tarriffs and taxes on non-EU trade will decrease will be more than that, easily. Considering its not in their interest to tax it too heavily, either.
The only reason the EU is taxing Non-EU exports right now is because its a totalitarian state that is capable of doing so, and there isn't any EU business pressure.

And I'm sure a lot of Dutch and French merchants would prefer free trade with Britain.
Unfortunately while they're still in a SINGLE MARKET that will not happen.
Some industry boss (by the way, representations of the industry rarely have much sway) cannot change that. Here's a few reasons why:
1. The decision on trade tariffs would be an EU-wide decision. It would also happen largely in the institutions
2. The chancellor of Germany is still Angela Merkel
3. The EU, as a whole, has more economic force than Britain - hence it makes 0 economic sense to accept a free trade agreement with Britain immediately
4. Free trade agreements can easily take years to implement, unless one side has no demands and it already will take several years to decouple Britain
5. A MAJOR part of your exports are cars. A MAJOR part of the German industry is cars. Trade tariffs on the UK benefit the German car industry a motherfuckload. This industry boss is basically talking for less than half their industry due to the car industry.

>>78141363
Is it?
Let's break this down.
1. The EU economy is weak. Its exports are not terribly competitive. Free trade with a country that is free of problematic regulation and close geographically would break the German, French and Dutch economies
2. Several of the massive industrial giants, such as the German car industry and Dutch petrol are in direct competition with the vast majority of your trade. Tariffs on your oil and cars trade means a huge fuckload of profit for them
3. The EU represents about 10 times your GDP and trade. They have bigger clout on a negotiating table.
4. The EU is ineffective and ruled by incompetent leaders who would gladly fuck over prosperity for some idealistic crap

Effecting additional tariffs on countries that leave, and especially countries that comprise the largest markets of goods from the rest of the EU, would lead to tariffs of their own on the same trade that the German, French and Dutch economies rely on, breaking them just as you say.
>2
Many industrial giants and leaders, such as the BDI, also note that tariffs would be very bad. This would be especially bad considering how much the free space afforded to us would allow us to compete, regardless of tariffs.
Also, this conflicts with your first argument, because one of the biggest markets for those very industries IS Britain. Tariffs won't make them profit but create tax revenues to be wasted while the companies lose revenues.
>3
The EU isn't a single block, and for that exact reason, their is NO bigger clout. If it existed, why haven't we seen it during the entirety of the history of the EU?

The BDI comprises German industry. German industry is largely those cars I mentioned who are against that.
And you're missing a crucial point here - tax on car exports from Britain to ALL of Europe means about 50 billion a year at risk. Tax on car exports from Germany to Britain might risk 5-10 billion, if that. German car industry will take a 50 billion hit on their competition in exchange for 5 billion on them. It's pure economics.
>3
Yes it is, Germany says what the EU does and the EU does it. It is a single bloc. If Britain leaves even more so.

Less than 5% of British industry actually trades with the EU, which is one of the reasons why it's absurd that the whole country needs to be stifled by EU regulations for the benefit of those few. The VAST majority of the trade we're talking about is in the form of services, especially financial services. So we're talking about the City of London.

Electoral fraud or vote rigging is illegal interference with the process of an election. Acts of fraud affect vote counts to bring about an election result, whether by increasing the vote share of the favored candidate, depressing the vote share of the rival candidates, or both.

And as regards China, India and South America - what exactly makes you think Britain will negotiate a better and faster trade deal than the EU is doing right now?
Plus, based on pure facts, trade to those 3 equate to below 10% of your trade.
Do you honestly think, after brexit, you can intensify that trade enough to compensate the 40ish% or so of the EU?
And what, exactly, would you offer them? Oil? To the countries that are geographically positioned to be close to massive sources of oil? Heavy industry? To South America that takes everything up the ass from the US or to India and China who produce so much heavy industry we can never compete with them?
Medicine? To China, South America and India?

It's not a lie, I'm talking about the number.
The reason the value is so disproportionate is because of the services from the City, services which aren't affected by tariffs.

>>78142988
Yes you can.
The point was that tariffs on 40% of trade will be worse than freeing up tariffs on 10% of trade.
>>78142754
That sounds troubling, you see at this point everything that could go right can go right and everything that could go wrong can go wrong, if there's no plan the odds are in favor of the latter
Also you're basically saying 'yeah we don't have a plan but we really couldn't have one' that doesn't sound comforting in the slightest, it's still as big of an issue

The EU trade is not going anywhere. We buy from the EU, the eurozone would collapse after a strong wind. They cannot get into a fight with us, the whole bloc would collapse.
The EU is not doing anything on trade. It is a barrier to exterior trade, overly focused on trade inside the bloc.

If you remove the services from the city we're talking removing oil and gold, that'd lower it by what, about 10%?
It's still about 30% that you have no way of compensating. Again, as said before, how exactly would you go for a trade agreement with China or India? For that matter, how would that not completely fuck you over?
Free trade with China would DESTROY your industry. The EU is negotiating one right now and most of EU industry is in an uproar, because the Commission is incompetent and wants to open us up to Chinese industry, which will cause 1 fucking billion cheap labour (Poland, that has overwhelmed you, has about 60 million, that's 0.6% of that) and an industry about 20 times our size.
>>78142906
> faster trade deal than the EU is doing right now?
It usually takes 2 years to arrange a bilateral trade agreement. The EU takes 10+ years because getting 28 member states to agree is no easy task. A deal with China isn't even on the table at the moment for the EU. The Canadian deal is still being held up by Italian Tomato farmers.
Further, deals we make will be tailored to the needs of Britain and the trade partner only. We won't have to compromise on the needs of third parties.
> Plus, based on pure facts, trade to those 3 equate to below 10% of your trade.
That's because we're chained to the EU who dictate our trade policy.
STICKY WHEN REEEEEEEE

Like I said, it's a risk. The leave campaign has it hard enough as it is as they do not have access to 'critical' information which the remain camp does.
It's why I won't be assblasted should the result be remain because as far as I am concerned, the leave campaign has done a good job in a very unfavourable environment.
Would be different if, say, Boris Johnson and Nige fucked it up, but they didn't.
>>78141363
Not only won't the EU allow it you can bet the USA/CAN/AUS/NZ will be using all of their soft power for the UK's benefit once a brexit happens.
We have the largest committee in twenty years (almost all departments) working on a post-brexit strategy right now. They should have been on recess almost two weeks ago.

Only 6% of UK businesses exports to eu
Eu is an ever decreasing share of our exports
Deals with China India America would offset that in the 2 year leaving period
Trading with Eu unders WTO rules would cost us 3-4billion a year in tarrifs chump change compared to our economy

To be fair it's a risk staying in too. The running gag is it will simply continue as a 'status quo'. Yet I am pretty sure the EU will see us voting remain as an excuse to go 'further' in diminishing what sovereignty we have left, if any.
As it is a risk leaving, it is also a risk staying because I do feel that the EU will leap at us like ravenous wolves should we opt to remain.
