Gun Ban Panic Buying

Thread replies: 364
Thread images: 48

I just came back from 4 different gun shops in my area.

Every single AR15/10, AK, PTR, Mini14/30, SKS, Saiga, ScarH, and Tavor has been sold out.

Even stripped lowers are gone.

I couldn't find any 193 or m855 ammo either.

I had to settle with a 45-70 lever action.

I have never seen such a panic buy of guns in my life.

Is a gun ban finally coming???

I don't know why people are panic buying right at this moment. Nothing is going to happen unless and until Hillary wins and a new Congress is sworn in. We've got months before they try to grab our guns.

the thing is is that so many people have guns now, that no one will keep buying them like they have been.

in addition, since so many people have guns, it's going to be incredibly difficult to get people to relinquish those guns.

what you'll have is weakening demand with weakening gun ban rhetoric.

New people will start buying them, because of age or curiosity, and some people never seem to stop collecting, especially when new models come out.

TBQH I don't think I've ever known anyone who doesn't clean their gun.

I think most people would never shoot their gun enough to wear out the barrel or components.

If we're talking about generations down the line, AR-15's will be like the M1 - a dinosaur.

Canadian manufacturers are amazing when it comes to fudd guns (look up Alberta Tactical), unfortunately fudds utterly dominate the gun culture here; literally every piece of firearms legislation is debated through the lens of "well why would you NEED this rifle/shotgun to hunt deer/birds"? Now I have two AR-15's (one nicely accessorized one and one backup), 4 pistols, 2 shotguns, and a .22

Lot's of ammo and mags and even a new gun safe. All since December

The writing is on the wall my friends. Go buy what you need now while it is affordable
>>
>>77761854
The mag release is shit, the trigger is even more shit, and sometimes it vents hot gas into your face. The X95 supposedly solved all these problems, but supposedly it also has accuracy issues. For $3000, you may as well buy an XCR, or just suck it up, get an RPAL, and buy a decent AR.

An outright gun ban will never happen. We will just continue down this slippery slope with them taking a piece at a time because we allow it to happen. There will never come a time where they come and take your guns or require you to bring them to your local police station. It's just not logistically possible. There are far too many guns in this country.

I don't think it's been this bad since the Newtown massacre. On top of the massive body count, I also suspect that the reason American liberals are so pushing hard against gun rights is so that they won't have to acknowledge that this was the second major Islamic terror attack within a year, the increasing frequency of which is not something they want to accept.

If you want an entry level 1911, I'd recommend getting a Rock Island Armory. They've got a bunch of different versions with decent prices on all. A GLOCK wouldn't be a bad choice either though.

I can do way more fucking damage on a hill with a M14 or M1 than I could with an AR-15. That. Is. Fucking. Stupid.

If anything, Lanza should have been the final push. I can actually SEE the logic behind it. Fucking nutjob kiling a bunch of kindergarteners? I don't agree with it, but I see the logic behind it. But this? A fucking SELF-PROCLAIMED TERRORIST and they are trying to ban the right to self-defense? I just don't get it dude. We've been fighting these barbarians for fucking years. And everyone knows that these raghead groups like the boom boom more than actually shooting people. If they don't think that they should swing by the infirmy at my FOB and talk to some of the dudes missing limbs. You should SEE some of the IED's we find out here. Sytrofoam, gasoline, and fucking fertilizer wired together with copper and a watch. Enough of that shit will burn everyone alive in a fucking Humvee. What a crock of shit.

>>
>>77764899
Are you referring specifically to why concealed vs open? If so, it's so that people don't know you're armed, which gives you an advantage. Debatable.
>>
>>77764899
The government already knows I bought the gun since I got it from a shop and filled out the forms. In Ohio we can open carry without permit but you'll still get stopped and hassled. It's just better to get the permit and that way no one even knows you're strapped.

"The government" is the sheriff's office. They take fingerprints to do FBI criminal background check which is a step above your average gun shop background check. Even still, Uncle Sam will already know that I own funs if they bother to look very deep. Hell, I'm sure my ATF forms will come up when they process my passport application.

The point is CCW until rule of law goes to shit. The law abiding gun owner is the biggest victim but at the very least no one can say you did anything wrong. Once SHTF all bets are off and rules don't matter.

NRA is supporting the "no gun" list against terrorists. NRA offices are having morale problems as the tide has turned. Also, random question about Afghanistan. I've got three bucket list trips in parts of the world considered dangerous: I wanna see mesopotamia and the super ancient sites in Iraq and the area, I want to see Iran, and I'm going to ride pic related on a bike. The M41, aka Pamir Highway, is supposed to be like the karakoram highway on steroids, but fucking awesome. I'd start in Osh, but it'd spit me out in Mazar e Sharif. Just travelling through the country (and not at night) would I be relatively safe going from Mazar e Sharif > Kabul > Jalalabad > Peshawar? (From Pakistan I'd ride to Tibet, but I digress). I just want to know if I need to veer more in one direction or avoid one area to avoid. I don't wanna get abducted by the Taliban or Daesh Khorasan.

All the talk about gun control during the entirety of Obama's presidency and especially recently has caused a massive gun surge. It's actually probably a super good investment in case things do get banned because there are normally grandfather clauses which allow preban items to still be purchased and bought. And I really wouldn't recommend Jalalabad either. Those are the two places that are the worst. Every single time I've been to Peshawar, no matter what time in the war, no matter what time of day, who I'm with, I've gotten shot at. Like clockwork. Jalalabad and its suburbs are constantly wired with 120mm shells and other IEDs. You got a ballsy bucket list trip dude, but lol man if you wanna do that, you should just let me hook you up with a recruiter. Because Jalalabad and Peshawar, you may not be wearing a uniform, but you will be an enemy.

Peshawar is one of the places ISAF has to consistently use soldiers and raids because its a hotbed of terror and AQ and The Taliban know we can't have Reapers dropping Hellfires because it's very residential as well. But here the bad guys and regular people look exactly the same. And if you do get abducted, run away or try to get them to shoot you, because you will have a very slow, painful death.

americans in the past used to purchase ONE shotgun and ONE rifle for the family or for themselves. you maintain those 2 firearms real good and practice until you can literally hit anything at a 70 yard range. when you about to die, to pass those to your kids or to your close ones

these days its more about spray and pray, guns are now just tools, it breaks, you replace em. you die, the gov confiscate them

no more keepsakes.

I've never been to Iraq, and there aren't many people there right now. But man I've heard some fucking horror stories. The IED's they put out are horrifying. It's one of the reasons ISIS has been so hard to beat back, they wire entire fucking cities with daisy-chained shells and barrel bombs.

Thanks for the response. I've had friends visit parts of Lahore and Karachi that said it was very safe, so I've been looking for where to avoid. My biggest concern in planning has been the logistics of how to get from the end of the Pamir Hwy in Mazar e Sharif to India. Since going further north would be fucking stupid and put me right in the middle of the fighting in Afghanistan and then spit me out in Jammu and Kashmir in Pakistan (all horrible options), how much further south in Afghanistan should I go before crossing into Pakistan?

That attack was in Garland, TX, where a school property (meeting place, not specifically a chool) was used for a contest to draw bad cartoons of Mohammad. Basically, the female nut job promoting the contest knew the Mudslimes might retaliate and they did. (From Arizona I think..) Thank goodness a good guy was there. There was lots of press on it. Just like the press on the 3 dudes who stopped the terrorists on the French train.

4 good rifles you can buy without having to worry about the California legal bullshit are the SKS, the Mini-14(or Mini-30), M1 Garands, and M1A type rifles. None have pistol grips and they all can have wooden stocks.

The cheapest on that list is the SKS. A poor man's rifle chambered in 7.62x39 (same cartridge as Kalashnikov type rifles). I used one to hunt deer when I was younger, very reliable if you keep the firing pin clean. You will most likely find them coated in cosmoline. Very few practical aftermarket upgrades, but you don't need them (rifle is fine). Also, no detachable mags, it uses 10-round stripper clips. That could be a good thing though for you Califags. Don't spend more than $400-$500 on one. Yugo's don't have a chromelined barrel, but they're great rifles. Try to find a Russian or Chinese one if possible.

The Ruger Mini-14 is chambered in 5.56x45 (like an AR-15), and the Mini-30 in 7.62x39. You have a variety of different magazines, 10 rounders for you. You get more aftermarket options here, but not as much as an AR or AK. Scope mounts can be more easily obtained. Get a newer one though, without a pencil barrel (those heat up quicker). You should pay $600-$700.

Next is the M1 Garand. Chambered in 30-06, it uses 8-round en-bloc clips for its internal magazine. Will drop moose & bears, as well as penetrate level III plates. Aftermarket is virtually non-existent, so spend that money on your expensive ammo and more en-bloc clips. These are harder to find then the other rifles on this list, expect to pay over $1200 if you're lucky. A Califag on /k/ has a plate carrier dedicated to one, using grenade pouches to hold clips. Cool dude.

Lastly is the M1A, .308 / 7.62x51. Tons of different brands and options for this one. The US Military used a the M14 (M1A1) as a DMR. This is the most "tactical" rifle on the list, and what I recommend if you have the cash. Research further.

Pic related is not mine, but examples of a Mini14 and M14.

It depends on the AR in particular. My dad's Bushmaster won't do steel cased at all, but his friend's chews through it.
>>
>>77767504
Xm193 only works against steel and poly lvl plates. Which is better than not working against anything, but in reality everyone who matters will have ceramics. Just load up on JSPs for go time.
>>
>>77767373

Yeah, that's a huge part of it. With this and San Bernardino, .gov has proven to us without any shadow of a doubt that they will do nothing at all to stop attacks like these even though they have Intel and authorities to. I don't know if it's because the Obongo is politically correct and competent or in on the globalist conspiracy and allowing incidents to happen so they can fuck our rights in the ass in response. Probably both

Got plenty of different kinds of funs and a CC permit, now I just need to build up my ammo stocks so that I can feed my guns when shit inevitably goes sideways.

I'm thinking about CCing my .45 in addition to my little mouse gun now.

Lahore and Karachi are all under ISAF control. If you wanna "vacation" in Afghanistan, those are the places to do it. It won't really matter how much south you will go. Well, it will and it won't. The reason I say it won't is because the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan is the most dangerous part of the country, no matter whether your north or south. The Taliban just cross over whenever they feel like it.

Like yeah, the fighting is mostly up north, but in the southern part there are just as many Taliban as there are up North.

I know civvies that work from NGO's usually take the Khandahar to Chaman route but thats very out of the way, or Lashkar Gah and go straight down (I'd have to look at a map to see the names of the exact highways.) But again that'd put you out of your way.

I have other calibers for that. And M193 gets really weird out of 1:7 twist barrels. Maybe if I have the cash to get one of the Colt retros that's got the original 1:12 twist- hell, I carried a 16A1 very early in my career.

I mean M855 blows in soft tissue, seen it in Iraq on both tours, but I came into a lot of it cheap and I can't afford to put away six 900 round cans of Barnes TSX TripleShocks.

I've had good success with the steel mag that came with mine and milsurp 30 rounders. I have a Troy mag that works fine as well. The only problems I've had have been with Tapco mags that I got for free and that was because of the way they're molded. A plastic burr was interfering with the riser. I sanded it out and it's worked pretty well since.
