The world recognises that Taiwan/ROC is a separate political entity to PRC, but due to pressure from PRC and the one-China policy, ROC is left out of a lot of international organisations. When they are admitted, they need to come under the name of Chinese Taipei. Also, ROC doesn't have embassies in most countries as they are not recognised as a country (though they do have non-officially-recognised trade offices).
Also, ROC/PRC relations were frosty because of a civil war outcome that is still unresolved. The US civil war was resolved: the CSA and all its possessions, personnel, and people were subsumed back into the USA.

It's not an issue for me if Texas had a flag. I've grown fond of Texas and Texans, and I begrudgingly show my respect to it for what it is. Is it the greatest fucking place in the universe? I can't go quite that far. But I do have a book in my stack to read called something along the lines of "As goes Texas, so goes the US" that discusses the influence Texas has on national politics. I'm looking forward to reading it.

Well enjoy the book you plan on reading. From the looks of it, most Texans are fine with it. The majority that are opposing this change, are either not even living in the US, so their flag will not be affected, or an american that just doesn't want it to happen, despite the fact the majority rules. Texas is a very significant state, and Texans take great pride in their state. Many would rather be represented by their state flag, rather than the United States.
We all should. Europeans don't have to have the EU flag. How could we legitimately get this to happen?

Texas was an independent country for 10 years after a bunch of volunteers (not even formally trained soldiers) took Texas from Mexico (outnumbered about 3 to 1, too) in a surprisingly quick (<7 months) revolution
Then Texas joined the US by treaty via popular support of the Texans. There was no war bloodshed involved in the acquiring of Texas, it made a deal with the US.

Georgia has a lot of state pride. Have you ever been to south Georgia? People are proud as fuck to live in our great state. We've cucked the other states in the region with strategic dam placement, and then they had to go cry like little babies to the SC to make it stop. Georgia is one of the best and most cultured Southern states, with great scenery and great culture. One of the most thriving urban centers of the South is our great capital Atlanta, and we are proud of it. We have a quickly growing film industry as well; Georgia will be the Hollywood of the South by 2020. Is Georgia as big as Texas? Is its GSP as high? No, but Texas being a great state (which I acknowledge) doesn't take away from Georgia's greatness.

As a Northerner I am well aware of southern pride. I would consider Georgia and South Carolina among some of the proudest Americans. It's quaint, and I admire it, although SC can be quite stubborn.
I was allowed to watch Deliverance at a very young age and southerners used to scare me. I also saw that movie where the national guardsmen got chased through the bayous in LA by the locals.

Everyone is proud of their state. No where near does georigian pride match that of Texas's. If georgia left the US right now, it would do little to their economy. I don't see Georgia threatening to secede. If Texas were a country, it would have the 11th largest GDP in the world. It is larger than all european countries, excluding russia. And the land isn't desolate either. People are spread across the region, and not condensed into one city. Georgia isn't significant enough to where people agree that the georgian flag shoulf represent them instead of the United States. I understand Texas is bigger; I even acknowledged that in my post. What I'm saying though is that one doesn't have to be bigger than Texas to qualify for having 4chan display their state flag. Georgia would have the 26th highest GDP in the world if it were its own country, and a it has a strong culture and history. Georgia is a state worth being proud of. Georgia is in the top 10 states by GDP also, so it's not as though it wouldn't impact the economy.

Well there are two things I request and am fine with. Give the ability for /pol/acks in the United States to switch to country, or state. That, or change the United States flag, to the Texas flag for people residing in Texas. I feel that someone that resides in Wyoming would want the former, just so they may appear as a special snow flake. This is not what I want, I want Texans to be able to be represented by their state flag, in lieu of their country's, because we Texans feel as if we earned it. Remember.
