>REMINDER FOR THE 24TH
Counts will get under way when polls close at 22:00 GMT Thursday, 23 June at 382 local centres around the UK. These local results will be declared as the counts are completed before being collated at 12 regional centres, which will also declare the totals for each side. There will be a rolling total so the time at which one side reaches the point of being mathematically unbeatable depends on how quickly the vote are counted and how close the results are running. It is a safe bet that from 4am onwards there should be pretty clear picture of which way the vote is going. A chief counting officer will announce the overall result at Manchester Town Hall.

>The value of sovereignty cannot be measured by any economist’s formula. Adam Smith, the father of economics, first observed that the prosperity of a country is decided by whether it keeps its ‘laws and institutions’ healthy. This basic insight explains why nations thrive or fail, and has been the great secret of British success: intellectual, artistic, scientific and industrial. The principles of the Magna Carta and achievements of the Glorious Revolution led to our emergence as a world power. To pass up the chance to stop our laws being overridden by Luxembourg and our democracy eroded by Brussels would be a derogation of duty to this generation and the next.

More then the spectator?
We need to compile a battle report of the flotilla. My piece on Channel 4 entering the fray, feel free to add:
A supposedly impartial Channel 4 craft strode into the conflict in an attempt to undermine the Leave squadrons, firing their xenophobia cannons filled with accusations that the Corona beer the jolly fishermen were drinking was imported from the EU. However, the alleged comedians were rendered powerless when it was pointed out to them that it actually manufactured and imported from Mexico. Utterly ruined, the funnymen promptly escaped before exposing their arguments to further scrutiny. You can expect a fully balanced report of the battle from them on The Last Leg, where they will drink their own tears and stutter out beyond the blubbering that “N…Nigel Farage is a r-racist…” to the hysterical cheers of a balanced and impartial audience.

This is what politics is though.
Politics is always emotional because it's about people, people don't always listen to facts and figures.
Farage had the fishermen themselves on the boats, I'd imagine they knew what made them unemployed/decreased their quality of life better than Geldof does.
Also each side is not one person, recommend them Hannan as a counter to Farage.

im most disappointed that the economist would back In. the economist has some brilliant pieces from time to time but often they simply back either what is good for the markets and big business, or back naive liberal internationalism. it's most annoying because they always have some stuffy, slimy caveat in there like "while the EU is oft a shambles, with the Euro being a bad idea, with high unemployment, with a bureaucratic and undemocratic form of government, with it being both highly inefficient and wont to gobble up the sovereignty of its member states, with much needed reform it could be the bedrock of western interests bla bla bla".
It's like they know the right answer but are too upper middle class and naive to really take the plunge.

Well, Nigel himself has answered that question many times on QT etc.
Basically, the committee has absolutely no power to change or suggest legislation of any kind, so his reasoning was that it was more beneficial for him to be spreading awareness in the UK, or attending other duties. Also, I'm fairly sure that a bunch of those meetings were shortly after he survived that plane crash.

I feel like I should elaborate a little bit.
I know a lot of people personally who attempted to work for the EU, who had top marks at again the best (or, let's be safe, top 3) international relations department in the country.
It never works because the only people in demand at the EU are translators who know 4 languages, or people who are already "in the loop" and have friends / connections / gobs of experience working in government and the Brussels bueraucratic machine in particular.
If your sister actually wants a job with that degree, it's awesome that she has math / stats experience as you indicated here >>77360317 . That's a HUGE asset.
What she should do is apply for consultancy companies that offer public sector work. If she's really bright McKinsey, BCG (where I will be working), Bain, or also Deloitte, PWC, and many others are also really great alternatives.
The reality of public sector work (I have cousins who work for the State Department in the USA), is that its either a total grind doing unimportant piss for no money, or you have gobs of connections and you get something cushy. If she's still figuring it out she's obviously the latter.
I know this is 4chan but I am not making any of this up and I would be happy to elaborate on anything if you have any questions.

Telegraph, MoS, and the Times are the ones to watch. If they go Leave, that would be a critical blow.
Blocks to Reform: Changing any aspect of the Common Fisheries Policy – even ones which are clearly broken such as subsidies or destructive and wasteful such as discards – is very difficult indeed. This is because the EU moves at an extremely slow pace with endless committees, reports, investigations and so on having to be carried out before any action can take place, but also because agreements need to be reached between all member nations before change can take place. This is a particular problem because nations such as Spain and France almost always try to derail any regulation or rule changes which will disadvantage their fishermen, even if the rule change will help restore fish stocks and benefit everyone in the long term. This can be seen in the discard ban where France and Spain issued a ‘joint declaration’ which aimed to allow discards to continue indefinitely (in the end they only gained small exemptions for themselves). Similarly, an attempt to ban deep-sea trawling was narrowly defeated, even through this practice causes untold damage to ancient and delicate ecosystems and the entire deep-sea trawling fleet is almost entirely French (and runs at a massive loss and is only propped up by EU subsidies). The reasons for the French and Spanish blocking reform are perfectly logical: they have the largest fishing fleets and receive the most in subsidies – Spain in fact has the largest fishing fleet in Europe but does most of its fishing outside of its own territorial waters. Furthermore, CFP Reform Watch state that Spain receives around half of the total subsidies handed out by the EU – a good situation for them but it is a terrible one for Europe’s fish stocks.
[1/2]
>>77360628
*are not Britains ally
>>77360644
[2/2]
Even when change does take place it is painfully slow. The discards ban took three years to agree and came close to being completely derailed or watered down to the point of being useless a number of times. Even when it was agreed in late 2013 it will be phased in between 2015 and 2019, meaning it will have taken almost a decade to fully implement a system which basically amounts to stopping fishermen throwing away perfectly good and edible fish.

The reason is because Remain had a sizable average lead in the polls for many months. Not that Leave didn't occasionally come out ahead, but generally speaking Remain held a consistent advantage. So that is priced into the betting odds, which are of course determined by the number and size of bets on each side.
Moreover, there is some money that is still betting on Remain because they believe that there will be a last minute swing to the status quo.
Come on Leaf, use your head here.
I'm Nigel Farage and I'm in touch with people on the Remain and Leave camps. They're research shows the polls are wrong, it's looking as high as 91% leave, so just stay at the pub like me while we leave, okay? No need to vote, just get comfy. Buy some pints and have a laugh. Cheers mate.
International Relations is surprisingly versatile, depending on what she looked at specifically. I myself focused on military and diplomatic strategy and the economics of the military-industrial complex (because it was interesting and cool and it fit nicely with my business modules) and then talked about what I learned in my job interviews. I even recommended to the interviewer random Cold War strategy texts like Defeating Communist Insurgency by Sir Robert Thompson and Arms and Influence by Thomas Schelling. A degree is a lot of what you make of it. If she spec'ed in Intl Law she can always do le law school route.
Consulting is really great if you can get it, it's extremely difficult to get through the process but if you do your homework and apply to everything you can get your hands on in the industry sometimes magic can happen.
Godspeed my friend.

The EU prevents action and stagnates, it riles up Russians and then runs away behind NATO. It forms commissions and committees and other nonsense without doing anything. Almost all of its members don't spend the NATO required GDP and not all its members are in NATO. It has an awful security policy, a disastrous foreign policy and no sense of defence thinking at all.

Aim-9l
>Its first use in a large-scale conflict was by the United Kingdom during the 1982 Falklands War. In this campaign the "Lima" reportedly achieved a kill ratio of around 80%, a dramatic improvement over the 10–15% levels of earlier versions, scoring 17 kills and 2 shared kills against Argentine aircraft.

>21 May 1982 an SAS soldier engaged and shot down an Argentine Pucará ground attack aircraft with a Stinger

Ascension
>The nearest forward base to the Falklands was on the British island of Ascension. The facilities there were run by the United States but they released their strategic stockpiles on the island. Chief among these was the provision by the United States Air Force of aviation fuel. The US forces provided a total of 12.5 million US gallons (47,000 m3) or about 40,000 tons for British aircraft

HMS Hermes
>Ronald Reagan made secret plans to loan Britain a U.S. warship if she lost an aircraft carrier during the Falklands War, it has emerged.
The then-president was prepared to support Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher despite the U.S. being officially neutral during the 1982 conflict.
The stunning revelation was made by John Lehman, the former U.S. Secretary of the Navy, to the U.S. Naval Institute on Tuesday.
Mr Reagan would have loaned Britain the use of the amphibious warship USS Iwo Jima should harm have come to either HMS Invincible or HMS Hermes, which the Royal Navy had deployed to defend the islands from Argentinian forces.

>Learn in Europe
Many people learn in European countries; Americans are going in larger numbers to Germany for example for cheap University. You can still learn and travel in Europe after leaving.
>Cleaner Air
Nope! Actually the EU obsession with carbon in the 2000s led to the increased use in diesel engines for commercial and private transport while other countries didn't go down that route and focused on air quality. The result? European cities are swamped in cancer causing diesel particulates and life expectancy is suffering AS A DIRECT RESULT OF EU POLICY. And the EU's answer to their colossal fuck up? Raise taxes on diesel cars and lorries many people bought because they were tax-friendly!
>Gives us money
Nope, EU is a net loss by everyone's figures.
I know you was baiting, but I just wanted to give people more ammo to use in the Fight.

we did far more than the French and French exocets still killed many of your lads.

The left is obsessed about Humanity and Man, not so much about human beings, or Britons/Frenchmen/etc.
Shit lads, new thread?

Well, one, that book is a suggestion for a collective response, not a sinister secret plan hatched by Mormons or the Garden Society.
Two, If something is a good Idea, lots of people are going to come up with it. I pretty sure if a European Union wasn't discussed before WW1 because there was no need.
Look. You are not an economic power in the world anymore, and you have a long history of conflict among yourselves that may or may not be relevant.
My point is that you are throwing the baby out with the bath water. The problem is not in the structure, but in the decisions you have made.
Austerity doesn't work.
And you can survive better if you trade among yourselves more, which is the biggest benefit of the EU.
Stop trying to take over the world and compete and focus on world markets so vigorously that you stab each other in the back, and you can make a nice living within the EU and its simplified trading rules.
Throw that out and instead of having your own pond that is protected, that every once and a while can produce something for the big pond, you will now just be a lot of small fish in a large and dangerous ocean.
There is always a third way. Fire the austerity leaches, and stick with the EU.

So did the American Skyhawks and free-fall bombs you sold them.
Is lordship for farage a poisoned chalice?

This lad is right, but has more to do with Reagan-Thatcher than an overarching "special relationship".
Also I'm fairly sure we purchased weapons systems such as the Stingers and AIM, they weren't "given" to Britain.
