>While their numbers remain uncertain, Syria received around 60 Panzers that were refurbished in France during 1950-1952, followed by 50 others purchased from Czechoslovakia in 1954.[100] A Soviet DShK machine gun on an anti-aircraft mount was retrofitted on the cupola. These were used to shell Israeli settlements below the Golan Heights, and were fired upon in 1965 during the Water War by Israeli Centurion tanks.[97] Syria received 17 Panzer IVs from Spain; these saw combat during the Six-Day War in 1967.[101]

remind me again how they aren't based. the worst thing you could say about them is that they suck USAF dick, which wouldn't be entirely false.

YPG is just as bad as ISIS as far as ethnic cleansing goes.
http://www.al-monitor.com/pulse/ru/contents/articles/originals/2015/10/syria-turkey-right-groups-accused-kurds-rojava-of-war-crimes.html

In a 38-page report, "'We Had Nowhere Else to Go': Forced Displacement and Demolition in Northern Syria,” Amnesty International catalogues allegations of forced evictions of Arabs and Turkmens and the destruction of their homes and property. “In some cases, entire villages have been demolished, apparently in retaliation for the perceived support of their Arab or Turkmen residents for the group that calls itself the Islamic State,” Amnesty International noted. Villagers said they were ordered to leave at gunpoint, their livestock shot at. The watchdog used satellite imagery and video footage to verify the claims.

In the Arab village of Husseiniya near Tell Hamees, for instance, only a single house was left standing. Residents said the YPG had razed their homes in February. In Raneen, near Tell Abyad, locals said YPG forces had threatened to shoot them if they failed to leave. One person said, “They told us we had to leave or they would tell the US coalition that we were terrorists and their planes would hit us and our families. In Raneen, where some people were with IS, there were lots of problems but we had nothing to do with anything.” Alleged YPG threats of calling in US airstrikes against villagers if they didn’t leave are repeated throughout the report.

Kurdish officials consistently reject all such claims, saying that villagers had been evicted for their own safety because they were in militarized zones and could get caught in the fighting or hurt by improvised explosive devices planted by IS.

Let me also add, Kurdrats also blocked the election and prevented people from voting. Truly Kurds are wonderful people! It's truly sad too in knowing that the majority of the Syrian people oppose federalism but Kurds for some magical snowflake reason deserve to have pure ethnic and political control over at least a third of the nation and at least half of said nation's oil resources. If Kurdrats were truly based, they would accede to the Syrian government, but they won't... they will continue to act as a Western proxy.

It is too early to speak about the future syrian state system. Even tho iam not a fan of kurds (since thieir muslim tribal system reminds me of the kavkazian hillmen too much and i cant stand them)
I realise that without a peace with the kurds this war will never end.
Cold calculation and the word of the supreme commander persuades me that they are fine.
They are helping Syria by holding/fighting their enemies. And if they will do something like that Qamishly attack again, it is never late to turn on them.

They probably do and we don't hear anything about it. The Kurds have the most sophisticated propaganda system and they are careful with what they put out into the public. It isn't by accident that the Kurds are regarded quite positively by everyone worldwide (except for the lands which the Kurds infest).

I believe Amnesty International (yeah I know not the best but oh well) made reports about YPG abuses.

But the piece of evidence that is most damning against the YPG and the Syrian Kurds for me is that there are mass exoduses of Arab people from Kurd controlled territories.

The YPG might be fighting for the right reasons, but they are far from the angels you make them out to be. It is very possible that the SAA will have to fight the Kurds next.

i lived my whole life in Syria before i came here, education was free, no one was hungry, health care was free (apart from surgery) every single house had a fridge and a washing machine, bread, sugar and rice were handed out to everyone for free (bread wasnt free, but it was supplied for 9 S.P per kilo by government bakeries)

the country had 0 debut, under a million sanctions but the economy was growing.

we were in deep shit from a political stand point, but i come from a middle class family and all my brothers and sisters had a university degree, hell when i came here to france a couple of years ago the education was so low i had perfect notes without studying through my first year of university.

Syria was on the rise, that's why they wanted it destroyed, and bashar didnt see that coming, that's what he did wrong.

dont get me wrong, i dont give a shit if he stays or leaves, but blaming everything on him is an ignorant opinion.

http://www.tradingeconomics.com/syria/government-debt-to-gdp

Government Debt to GDP in Syria averaged 120.65 percent from 1990 until 2010, reaching an all time high of 189.76 percent in 1990 and a record low of 30.01 percent in 2010.
>>
>>77091587
>had zero debt
Syria has made progress in easing its heavy foreign debt burden through bilateral rescheduling deals with virtually all of its key creditors in Europe. In December 2004, Syria and Poland reached an agreement by which Syria would pay $27 million out of the total $261.7 million debt. In January 2005, Russia and Syria signed a deal that wrote off nearly 80% of Syria's debt to Russia, approximately €10.5 billion ($13 billion). The agreement left Syria with less than €3 billion (just over $3.6 billion) owed to Moscow. Half of it would be repaid over the next 10 years, while the rest would be paid into Russian accounts in Syrian banks and could be used for Russian investment projects in Syria and for buying Syrian products. This agreement was part of a weapons deal between Russia and Syria. And later that year Syria reached an agreement with Slovakia, and the Czech Republic to settle debt estimated at $1.6 billion. Again Syria was forgiven the bulk of its debt, in exchange for a one time payment of $150 million.

assad was just a putin shill

Yes, I'm an internet though guy. But more than that, I'm a guy who can put 2 and 2 together and realize sunni scum in the area welcomed ISIS with open arms and NOT one of them tried to fight back. Not one. Just as happened in Northern Iraq, the "poor" civilians didn't do crap besides cheering as ISIS technicals rolld in their towns and villages and claiming them as part of the Caliphate.
They're scum.
I don't give a shit what a T*rk in Germany thinks about this. They deserve to die as much as the Islamists themselves.

Point is, the Kurds want the city and the inhabitants for their future state/federal zone/whatever. You can call them cowards, alright. But killing the inhabitants and destroying their city doesn't help the PYD in any way, especially since many of the inhabitants are kurds and sunni tribes, who (cowardly as you would say) adapted to the new ISIS-occupation situation, but don't really care who rules. It's only logical.

And right as ISIS counterattacks,

Kurds suspend their Manbij offensive in order to "save civilians lives"

Hahaahaha kurds in maximum damage controlm mode. Always trying to play WE ARE THE GOOD GUYS WE WANT TO HELP :)))

http://aranews.net/2016/06/sdf-troops-delay-liberation-manbij-city-avoid-civilian-casualties/

While in reality they delay the operation because they don't have the troops to do it.

The kurds literally give zero fucks about any kind of civilian casaulties.

Most of /pol/ identifies as far-right.

They are opposed to globalism, they are sure that a nation can suceed only if the people are unified and live in a monolithic society (meaning Syria for syrians, Russia for russians, etc etc), most of /pol/ is also opposed to neo liberalism (basically the western liberal model of society where personal freedom is held higher than everything else) .
(Hence they despide the western backed "moderate rebels" (they dont even really exist btw)

However /pol/ is not a bunch of religious nutjobs, they want a (mostly) secular state , hence they despise jihadi movements.

Alot of people on /pol/ also don't believe in democracy, or that democracy is a good idea, and opposite it, and especially oppose the notion of economic and even social equality (hence they don't like kurds), they generally think that power is better off when it is concentrated in the hands of a few individuals and ordinary citizens don't partake in it.
Assad is clearly the number one pick for pol here.

>>
>>77113283

I daresay that despite most of /pol/ identifying as "far"-right, the reality is closer to centre-right, pro-natsoc tendencies in some people aside.

As far as the concentration of power, the only thing I am opposed to is people under 25 or so voting, because they inevitably vote for leftist parties.

Arab Spring of course having two sides:

One being some legitimate protests and discussions about government like (the early stages of) the Damascus Spring

Others being a Islamist insurgency fueled by sectarian Sunni Imam abusing unrest in population due to drought/economic troubles like the Daraa 'Spring'

Both in the Western Media end up under the same monniker and are sold as the same thing, but they are of course fundamentally different.
As in, the more-secular elements of the Damascus Spring do not in any shape or form support some poor backwards dumbasses from Daraa starting an armed uprising
