In the end of the day, these people are defending a company publicly outs homosexuals and leaks out sex tapes of celebrities despite being ordered by the law to remove them. While Gawker hypocritically tries to condemn the person who leaked out female graphic images of famous celebrities.
It's justice on par with the Newspaper company that publicized the names, addresses and home locations of all pistol owners within their area, only to have a blogger published the names and addresses of the staffers. It's them literally publishing private footage that they had no right to publish and ruining someone's professional career.
If this were allowed, any asshole electrician or gardener or something who decides to invade your privacy while in your home and record you could sell it to the media for a juicy payday and they could potentially ruin your life for nothing.

Well, in the end, the double standards of Gawker and their liberal audience ended up getting it severely fucked over in the end. It really should be a lesson that double standards can and will fuck your business over at one point. In Gawker's case, it was complaining about racism and sexism every so often and then defending their "right" to keep up the sex tape Hulk didn't want up with "freedom of the press". However, in the end, they learned the hard way that freedom of the press doesn't mean you can post shit on your "professional blog" that delves into some one's personal life without their permission, whether it's saying "You know that guy? He's gay" without asking him first or posting a sex tape.
