Any filters attached to it will be completely spent, and any unopened ones will be expired. There's also a good chance that the filter will be made with toxic materials, namely asbestos. But none of that matters, as just a gasmask won't do shit against a modern gas attack.
While it is possible that IS would use a primitive chemical agent due to the ease of creation, it is far more likely they would use babys first nerve gas, Sarin. As a nerve agent, Sarin is absorbed through the skin as well as lungs and eyes. Without a full NBC suit you still risk lethal exposure.

Sayyid Qutb, is by far the most important for people to study and unfortunately, most people have even heard of the man.
Military wise, in the modern era, they're useless for a number of reasons. They can't rely on the overwhelming force tactics they used in the past centuries anymore.
Their psychological mindsets mean nothing in the modern world, because eventually, it would come to an all out war and they'd be defeated. This cycle would continue. They rise up only to be defeated, just like in the past.
