>>76518670
Your fault is in assuming that the future will always look like the past.
None of the previous referenda concerned an explicit loss of UK sovereignty, and in fact most of them were to maintain the traditional constitutional status of the UK.
The EU is going against our traditional constitutional status, and the majority of people say IMMIGRATION is the biggest issue for them in this referendum.
IMMIGRATION had nothing to do with any of the previous referenda in your chart, but it has a LOT to do with the European Union.
Count in the EU refugee crisis, migrant boats coming across the channel, etc, and it should be easy to understand why past referenda should not be any indication of the outcome of this referendum.

This alone shows you know nothing about politics.
The reason why younger people tend to vote to the left is that they haven't accumulated enough to know what it feels like to have it threatened. That and they feel entitled to everything, until they are the ones who are having demands made of them by the next generation. Half of them will be do gooders as well, thinking they can solve the earth's problems with socialism. In truth there will always be something to envy, and socialism is the politics of envy.

All they care about is that everyone knows that they get irony and have such great taste "Watch me vote the Correct Opinion in a secret ballot. Hark at thee!"

They're one of the few papers that will publish politically incorrect material, it's a market niche, but they're not on our side generally.
British friends: if you know anyone who is considering voting for Brexit (and I sincerely hope you don't), please point out to them that, thanks to the law of unintended consequences, a vote for Brexit has a 99% certainty of also being a vote for the following:
1. Boris Johnson as Prime Minister - our very own, better-educated, answer to Donald Trump!
2. Scotland leaving the United Kingdom in order to remain in the EU.
3. A three-year recession in the UK.
4. Uncontained delight for Donald Trump, Rupert Murdoch, Kim Jong-un, ISIS, the Taliban, and all other enemies of democracy.
5. A huge setback for the West as whole, and for its slow progress towards peace and stability since 1945.
6. A collapse in the pound: which will mean no more European holidays for most British people, and high inflation at home.
7. All those retired British people in Spain being sent home (or being forced home by the weak pound and lack of access to healthcare), where they will be a drain on the UK health care system instead of the Spanish one.
8. London's Polish builders all going to Germany (see point 6), and leaving us to contend with British builders.
9. No change in net immigration figures: since, in order to gain access to the EU single market, neighbouring nations also have to accept free movement of labour. There's no chance of the UK being granted an exception.
10. The final collapse of British farming, as EU subsidies are withdrawn, and promises to replace them from Westminster are not honoured.
And then ask them to consider, whether it is worth enduring this outcome, in order to express their disgruntlement over immigration policy and EU bureaucracy?
Guys I'm nervous. I registered to vote before the GE last year but didn't manage to get out and vote in it; am I still registered to vote leave in this referendum?

You should be proud to be corrected, you should be thankful you learned something new, that your English can now be better, and that God himself is now better able to distinguish his target.

so you have about the same grasp on British politics as you do upon grammar? Poor elderly voters are pretty much always Tory voters especially since labour completely collapsed in on itself. All of labours seats in the GE weren't from an elderly demographic. The reason is that labour has been very negative for pensioners especially big government and council workers withdrawing state and public pensions.
>>76522555
Hmm, I'm not sure what grasp you have on the English language which would cause you to call into question the grammar and structure of my shitpost. This is the internet, not a place for such things, I find. Would someone else care to point out what was wrong with what I said earlier? I still stand by it. There's that Ukip party member that comes here, he reckons after the referensdm there's a large portion of the party (mostly the ex-Tories) that want to reform it into right wing libetarianism rather than populism
I think I've mustered a positive from the past 24 hours.
All the Leave voters witnessed Farage through the eyes of him being on their side for the first time last night. Ahead of the GE, even Tory supporters who wanted a referendum might have blocked out Farage as someone they could possibly get behind. Now that these same people have seen him in a different light, and hopefully they enjoyed his arguments, they might from now on see him in a whole new way.
Even if we vote to remain the effect this could have on UKIP's next GE results could be huge. Failing that I'm taking the blue pill and I'm off this fucking ride.

>Responsibility lies with the voters
>For foreign policy decisions nobody told them about and about issues that didn't necessarily exist at the time the vote was held
Not everything happens in an election year m8 and foreign policy is an unpredictable beast, I don't agree with Labour voters but I'd never blame them for Iraq - very few people would have seen that coming.
Equally I wouldn't say the responsibility for the Falklands lies with Tory voters - they had no idea any of that was on the horizon.
Foreign policy by it's nature often has to be decided without consulting the voters 90+% of the time. Governments can then live or die based on these decisions, see Thatcher's re-election and Blair's resignation for good examples

It is also claimed that much of the green belt is not all that green, but includes such things as scrap yards and gravel pits. Cheshire questions the environmental quality of the intensive agriculture that is the largest single use of green belt land, and cites the National Ecosystem Assessment of 2011 as saying that such land “has no environmental benefits at all”. Suburban gardens contribute much more biodiversity. It is argued, finally, that other designations, such as areas of outstanding natural beauty, national parks and sites of special scientific interest do some of the job of protecting what is really important about the countryside, which makes green belts less vital.

Why are all the /Britpol/ threads so down today and giving up hope? Stay strong- This referendum will either see us leave the EU or pave the way for UKIP. If the vote comes back split down the middle (which it most probably will) I can't see Mr Farage throwing in the towel. If anything it will make the party stronger. Just look at what happened with the SNP following the Scottish referendum.
A vote to remain is basically the starting pistol for full on EU integration, and as that slowly happens more and more people will feel alienated as the sovereignty of this great nation is slowly transferred over to Brussels. Any one who doesn't is frankly a traitor and should be rounded up and shot in the face with cannons.
Stay strong /Britpol/ Vote leave on the 23rd of June and Britain WILL Prevail.

Most immigration is occurring in already built up areas, there is very little room for useful expansion in most UK cities. Poorer people tend to live in inner cities where there is no room for new hospitals, schools etc. Inner cities also tend to be places where poorer immigrants move to, it's not good saying >Durr Hurr just build more

The last whites of the East End was interesting and made a bold statement about how white people can feel alienated in a community in which they have grown up in, but has been overrun by different ethnicities. But God forbid you ever actually say anything because in the minds of young people and the media you are a racist. It's ridiculous and quite frankly a stupid way of thinking.

Our system doesn't work that way.
To be an MP for a party you need to be approved by the party to stand in that constituency for them - that means you need to appeal to at least some powerful part of the Tory establishment i.e. the Cuckservative part or the Traditionalist part. Equally you'd need to be standing in a part of the country where you have a chance of being elected,.
If say a Farage like guy got elected as a Tory he'd be just one of hundreds of Tory MPs and have no meaningful power on his own against the rest.
In order to be a government minister you have to appeal to the party leadership as you'd be working with them all the time.
For a good example of this look at Tory "backbenchers" - the Tory MP's who have no role beyond that of MP, they have no significant say in government policy. If you didn't know better you'd think they were in a different party.
Look up Jacob Rees-Mogg if you have the time, and compare it to Cameron and you'll see a world of difference yet they're both Tories.
The only way to meaningfully change the party is for the members to elect a new leader who will then drive the party in a new direction. Corbyn got elected as leader of the Labour party and is trying to drag his party further left.
The way the Conservative party system works is more like how the Democrat primary system works, the party insiders have a lot of influence in the system and would likely rule out any candidate who treads on too many toes
>>76527876
>If we vote to stay
Join UKIP. I have a feeling the party will go from strength to strength if a Stay vote comes back. Work your way through the party in the four years until the next general election and you could stand a good chance of being put forward as MP candidate. Take the system on!
