1.) “SKILLS CAN BE TAUGHT. CHARACTER YOU EITHER HAVE OR YOU DON'T HAVE.”

2.) “IF YOU’RE TWENTY-TWO, PHYSICALLY FIT, HUNGRY TO LEARN AND BE BETTER, I URGE YOU TO TRAVEL – AS FAR AND AS WIDELY AS POSSIBLE. SLEEP ON FLOORS IF YOU HAVE TO. FIND OUT HOW OTHER PEOPLE LIVE AND EAT AND COOK. LEARN FROM THEM – WHEREVER YOU GO.”

3.) “DON'T LIE ABOUT IT. YOU MADE A MISTAKE. ADMIT IT AND MOVE ON. JUST DON'T DO IT AGAIN. EVER”

4.) "WHAT NICER THING CAN YOU DO FOR SOMEBODY THAN MAKE THEM BREAKFAST?"

5.) “TRAVEL CHANGES YOU. AS YOU MOVE THROUGH THIS LIFE AND THIS WORLD YOU CHANGE THINGS SLIGHTLY, YOU LEAVE MARKS BEHIND, HOWEVER SMALL. AND IN RETURN, LIFE - AND TRAVEL - LEAVES MARKS ON YOU. MOST OF THE TIME, THOSE MARKS - ON YOUR BODY OR ON YOUR HEART - ARE BEAUTIFUL. OFTEN, THOUGH, THEY HURT.”

6.) "YOU LEARN A LOT ABOUT SOMEONE WHEN YOU SHARE A MEAL TOGETHER."

7.) “YOUR BODY IS NOT A TEMPLE, IT'S AN AMUSEMENT PARK. ENJOY THE RIDE.”

8.) “MAYBE THAT’S ENLIGHTENMENT ENOUGH: TO KNOW THAT THERE IS NO FINAL RESTING PLACE OF THE MIND; NO MOMENT OF SMUG CLARITY. PERHAPS WISDOM...IS REALIZING HOW SMALL I AM, AND UNWISE, AND HOW FAR I HAVE YET TO GO."

9.) “I DON'T HAVE TO AGREE WITH YOU TO LIKE YOU OR RESPECT YOU.”

10.) “GOOD FOOD IS VERY OFTEN, EVEN MOST OFTEN, SIMPLE FOOD.”

11.) “WE KNOW, FOR INSTANCE, THAT THERE IS A DIRECT, INVERSE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FREQUENCY OF FAMILY MEALS AND SOCIAL PROBLEMS. BLUNTLY STATED, MEMBERS OF FAMILIES WHO EAT TOGETHER REGULARLY ARE STATISTICALLY LESS LIKELY TO STICK UP LIQUOR STORES, BLOW UP METH LABS, GIVE BIRTH TO CRACK BABIES, COMMIT SUICIDE, OR MAKE DONKEY PORN. IF LITTLE TIMMY HAD JUST HAD MORE MEATLOAF, HE MIGHT NOT HAVE GROWN UP TO FILL CHEST FREEZERS WITH CUB SCOUT PARTS.”

12.) "OPEN YOUR MIND, GET UP OFF THE COUCH, MOVE.”

13.) “LUCK IS NOT A BUSINESS MODEL.”

1/2
>>
14.) “THERE’S SOMETHING WONDERFUL ABOUT DRINKING IN THE AFTERNOON. A NOT-TOO-COLD PINT, ABSOLUTELY ALONE AT THE BAR – EVEN IN THIS FAKE-ASS IRISH PUB.”

15.) “UNDER 'REASONS FOR LEAVING LAST JOB', NEVER GIVE THE REAL REASON, UNLESS IT'S MONEY OR AMBITION.”

16.) “IT’S VERY RARELY A GOOD CAREER MOVE TO HAVE A CONSCIENCE.”

17.) “THE WAY YOU MAKE AN OMELET REVEALS YOUR CHARACTER.”

18.) “CONTEXT AND MEMORY PLAY POWERFUL ROLES IN ALL THE TRULY GREAT MEALS IN ONE’S LIFE.”

19.) “GOOD FOOD AND GOOD EATING ARE ABOUT RISK.”

20.) "THEY'RE PROFESSIONALS AT THIS IN RUSSIA, SO NO MATTER HOW MANY JELL-O SHOTS OR JAGER SHOOTERS YOU MIGHT HAVE DOWNED AT COLLEGE MIXERS, NO MATTER HOW GOOD A DRINKER YOU MIGHT THINK YOU ARE, DON'T FORGET THAT THE RUSSIANS - ANY RUSSIAN - CAN DRINK YOU UNDER THE TABLE.”

21.) “IF YOU LOOK SOMEONE IN THE EYE AND CALL THEM A ‘FAT, WORTHLESS, SYPHILITIC PUDDLE OF BADGER CRAP’ IT DOESN’T MEAN YOU DON’T LIKE THEM. IT CAN BE – AND OFTEN IS – A TERM OF ENDEARMENT.”

22.) “WITHOUT NEW IDEAS SUCCESS CAN BECOME STALE.”

23.) “BUT I DO THINK THE IDEA THAT BASIC COOKING SKILLS ARE A VIRTUE, THAT THE ABILITY TO FEED YOURSELF AND A FEW OTHERS WITH PROFICIENCY SHOULD BE TAUGHT TO EVERY YOUNG MAN AND WOMAN AS A FUNDAMENTAL SKILL, SHOULD BECOME AS VITAL TO GROWING UP AS LEARNING TO WIPE ONE’S OWN ASS, CROSS THE STREET BY ONESELF, OR BE TRUSTED WITH MONEY.”

I think the last place I'll visit that I haven't been to already is Japan as it still has some of its own culture left. After that anywhere that has sunshine and isn't a tourist trap will do

Next you won't even go swimming in a pool because you can just watch a video of a guy swimming in a pool its the same thing right?

Nothing grinds my gears quite like some pompous fuckface with a list of life lessons.

Maybe it's because I've been on the internet too long but I've seen a million of these and they've become a cliche.

There's always lesson that says to not be afraid of taking chances, that you will most likely fail but you have to get up and try again.

Usually after this one, there is the lesson that tries to bring the reader back down to earth, it's usually pessimistic of even nihilistic in nature. Something like "never trust anyone, not even yourself".

Then there's always the lesson that says to get out and travel. It's not like people have pressing matters in their life they need to attend to right? Nah, they can just take a year off of work to travel to some bumfuck city in India and catch a disease.

And the one that grinds my gear the most, the """""quirky"""" lesson. This one for example
>THE WAY YOU MAKE AN OMELET REVEALS YOUR CHARACTER :^)
It's just begging to for attention and to be questioned further, but of course its just about as shallow as every other """"lesson""""
>>
>>70369602
>nothing like going there
You're right

>watch documentary, see cool landmarks
>go there, smelly brown people try to steal from you and sell their cheap tourist tat, everything is crowded and you can't get anywhere near the sights themselves

i mix the eggs in a bowl, add just a bit of salt and milk/cream, and pour a third or quarter of the mix in a cast iron pan which i preheated to a really high temperature, set the fire to low and fry it on a bit of lard until it gets done 1/4in (5mm) around the edges. i then fold it in half, pour another third/quarter of the mix in and let it cover entire pan (and let it flow under the folded piece), rinse and repeat. then you end up with a moist, fluffy, leafy texture.
it has changed my life

My first thought was that it was an oblique reference to the phrase "you have to break a few eggs to make an omelette".
If I were inclined to stretch the idea, it would be that the sacrifices you choose to make in pursuit of a goal tell a lot about you (ex: sacrificing sleep rather than time with your kids when working a lot of overtime).

All in all, this doesn't sound like anything earth shattering. Just another list by someone who can't comprehend the idea that not everyone has the luxury of being able to travel at the drop of a hat like him.

Drugs make best friends. Tested and exported from the heart of Europe. Morocco could be interesting thou...
>>
I am not sure who this fuck is, but I am probably almost as old as him, so lets see how we line up

1) Definitely agree. I have my own business and I HAVE to hire based on just skill, but I promote based on loyalty, and how much I just generally trust people, since they'll be the one interacting with the public and have access to our accounts for materials ect. You can induce loyalty if a person is predisposed, but you can't teach it.

2) Absolutely. You learn a lot when you travel, about people, and about where you come from too.

3) Agree. A mistake that you try to hide becomes more then a mistake, it becomes a lie and an attack upon everybody it affects, even if you mean well.

4) Breakfast is up there for being a good host. But there's all kinds of shit you can do. I still remember a host taking my glasses off when I was passing out after a kegger in my late teens, so that I would not crush them in my sleep.

5) We already covered travel, yeah it can create or shatter personal paradigms, and genuine experience does stick with you and mold you. I hope he doesn't continue to repeat himself.

6) Maybe. That's more of a late 80's style corporate exercise to take somebody out and judge their behavior and choices. But sometimes eating is just eating.

7) Agree, but there is a price to everything and it might not seem real until it becomes real, that's part of the problem of youth, and honestly people shouldn't go too far overboard, not dying is not high enough of a baseline, surviving can hurt like fuck if done carelessly.

8) Maybe. Maybe not. I don't have the room or the inclination to babble at length about this, and it ultimately wouldn't go anywhere anyways.

9) I completely agree. Especially with politics, which in this era relies upon marketers creating deliberate division through abject partisan ship. I do not participate in hating my fellow man.

10) Agree. My absolute favourite food is tourtiere from fresh game and herbs ect.

>>70362319

I think he is referring to the way you flip it. Are you a pansy who awkwardly slides it onto a spatula and kinda tolls it over?

Or are you an alpha chad who picks the pan up and flips the motherfucker in the air and catches it back in the same pan behind his back?

I like the analogy. Made me realize I'm a pussy sometimes and life could be better if I was more willing to take risks.

11) I do agree to an extent. I've always enforced family meals. A lot of my contemporaries just let everybody load up their plate and retreat to their respective rooms ect, fuck that, not in my house. Except on Saturdays.

12) Agree. I say, while basically doing the same thing on my patio as somebody whose watching tv. Oh well.

13) Whatever works is a business model, the only qualifier is the result.

14) Yeah, it means that you don't have anything pressing to do, that's always nice.

15) Bullshit. Tell the truth if you actually respect who you are leaving, you may be helping them a lot.

16) Bullshit. My entire niche revolves in no small part around us being completely honest.

17) That's retarded.

18) more food stuff, I am really starting to not care about this guy.

19) jesus christ he just keeps going

20) I'm a Canadian from the fucking mountains, this is an absurd statement to me.

21) Well yeah, the essence of shit talking is "I can make these jokes because we're friends"

22) Disagree. If what you do works, then that's that.

23) well yeah, nobody should be so retarded that they can't even eat without help.

All in all, I think he's kind of a rambling ass, but so am I so whatever. He is definitely not a peer of mine, but might be an alright guy when not stuck on one subject.
