Turkey is an interesting wild card as they have always been.

They seem to be able to stir shit up when there is calm, stir shit up when it seems that things can't get worse, and then stir shit up when it seems like calm is around the corner.

They have executed step one and two, how long before they jump in again?

The world is just bizarre man. The "East" has become ruthlessly Machiavellian, the "West" still has a hangover in its politics from the good times and runs on "muh feels" and "What's right".

Thrown into this chaos are ideologically drunk mad men whose sole purpose is to unleash chaos, and personal enrichment by being maximum "evil", and hangovers from earlier times regarding motivations for such noble causes such as religious faith, "liberty", and other sociological phenomenon.

Well you got the basics

The Syrian revolution is basically a front for a Gulf-incited sectarian struggle where the hardliner Sunnis in Syria basically demand to be ruled by Sharia/Sunni leadership. The Salafists play a large part in this.

Many say the revolution started in Daraa.. but there, civilians that had been hit by economic problems & drought were incited by a local radical sectarian Sunni imam, who had weapons in his mosque. At the very start of the protests, a security forces member already died there.

The only legit democratic secular movement was a certain part of the so-called Damascus Spring. although even this movement was at a later point infiltrated by Muslim Brotherhood sentiments/statements.

And dont think for one second that the legit demonstrators/discussions of the Damascus Spring wanted the whole country to be fucked up in a brutal civil war where all the Sunni revolutionaries fight alongside al-Qaeda.
>>
>>76325665
US was doing their usual "Destroy the country i dont like" practice. It didnt went as intended with Syria.
Russia and Iran gaved Syria the international support.
Than Isis appeared.
And everyone started to "Fight Isis"
Russia bombs Isis and accidently target rebels
US bombs Isis and accidently target Syrian army
Turkey bombs Isis and accidently target kurds.

However air raids and Syrian army and kurds stopped with our arrival.

And Turkey care about kurds in Syria because they are having little civil war in Turkey itself.

I don't know in the Netherlands, but in Italy mass media NEVER speak about the war from Syrian point of view, it's only and always about the coalition.
The only time I heard was when Palmyra was recaptured and a few days ago when Hawks entered into Raqqah province borders.
It's astounding how little respect people generally have for Syrian soldiers.
People always bitch about civilians, yet out of 500,000 killed people (highest numbers), up to 200,000 are Assad soldiers (militias, regular army, hezbollah, Iranian units, foreign volunteers), that means almost half of all losses which is HUGE considering it is a modern warfare.
Consider how in WW2 civilians were a bigger share of casualties and you'll see how irritating is seeing the disrespect towards those Syrians who chose to stay and defend their motherland.
Assad may be a dictator and tyrant (it's always fun when you ask people to name one democratic leader in the whole area and their only plausible name is...Erdogan lol) but he is infinitely better than any Islamist scum.

I still don't understand the migration shit. Is there a legit, secondary reason? Or is it just the moronic shit liberals spew? I find it hard to believe all leaders and countries are just going along with SJW nonsense -- that's gotta be the surface explanation. What's the real explanation?

Like the South African firefighters in Canada. The press reason was "OMG SA loves Canada so much awww". The real reason is "Canada donates money and trains firefighters because the fire's mostly contained now so they can't fuck it up and it's good practise."

Muslim Brotherhood is fairly moderate. Willing to go democratic and willing to not oppose non Muslims in positions of power.

Problem is they are Sunni and were hit harder by IS than they were by Assad so survival instincts kicked in and some mutated.

All of this compounded by a tight immigration policy by most Middle Eastern countries, if you or your father weren't born there, than you are not welcome.

IS has announced that all that fight with them will gain citizenship. So disenfranchised Sunnis or displaced Sunnis have a place to go to strive for citizenship.

Iraq and Syria are majority Sunni but currently run by Shias or affiliates of Shia Alawites.

Iran throws arms and money at the Shias and the Saudis throw arms and money at the Sunnis.

Turks are pro Sunni

Kurds are pro who ever helps them survive

US siding with Kurds and pro moderate Sunnis (basically anti Assad and anti IS)

Russia is pro Assad and anti anyone who isn't Assad

In 2014 a RAI female reporter was held prisoner for some time in Syria, in a FSA-controlled town iirc with other Syrian women, she made a video on the official RAI youtube channel too where she literally cried talking about how bad the Syrian women have it there, it didn't even get more than 5k views obviously, on TV probably nobody talked about it either.

Keep in mind about the "dead civilians" number you can see in such articles, that most western sources quote the SOHR on that. And the SOHR has admitted to adding killed rebels to the killed civilians number.

..which makes sense, cause else the number killed Syrian soldiers doesnt make sense compared with the number of killed rebels
>>

The fact itself that I never heard of it, and I am a multilingual person quite interested in the event, shows how literally mind-blogging is media manipulation in the Western world (let alone the rest) which we consider "free and top 1".

I've recently gotten back into studying this war through South Front since the rise of IS and its been really interesting to see how IS's existence in Syria and Iraq has transformed this from a simple civil war to something much more complicated.

What I don't see discussed at all is the current state of the rebel forces. Can someone give me a recap of their situation in all of this mess is? Are they still based in Aleppo? What is the likely endgame for them at this point?

Two Italia girls who went to "help" the "population" and whom Al-Nusra (or one of those Islamist rebel groups) kidnapped back in January 2015.
They were freed and "officially" nothing was paid, in all probability Italy paid 12 million euros for those two idiots.
The funny thing is that those two were photographed in Milan holding signs in support of an Islamic rebel brigade (one of those involved in slitting the throat of Syrian prisoners of war, ah no Syrian pows don't count) and that they returned literally OBESE from their jail time.

I would never consider a political party based on a religion as moderate, specially if said religion is Islam. I don't care if they are democratic or not. Their end goal is to implement sharia, which I don't think I need to explain you why its a bad thing.

Hezbollah is obviously radical, but they are playing the "good" side in this conflict, so we support them, at least for now.

>>
>>76330268

I agree that the term moderate is sketchy when talking about Muslims but I'm not sure if there is another term. Maybe it is just IS and Sunnis who are not IS.

Then there are Shias and extremist Shias.

The line between the two can easily blur with time as history has shown.

IS is the true bad guy on the scene and maybe Russia and the US for getting into another proxy scrum just to fuck with each other. Iran and Saudi Arabia for supporting a proxy battle on foreign soil. Extremists from both sides jumping in to the fray.

The list of bad guys is longer on each side then the list of good guys.

If the Shias win then it is one step closer to a Shia Caliphate in the Middle East, which is not good.

If the Sunnis win then there us a chance of an even larger spread of IS and jihad popping up in even more areas.

The Middle East seems to be a place where a stalemate is a win and a victory is a defeat.

Assad will give them some sort autonomy, I guess. PKK and the Syrian Regime got along pretty good in earlier times. Russia probably won't care and doesn't want to drag on the war further, so they will mediate a deal. I will even annoy Turkey, a small bonus. Also, no one wants to fight a group that has full US support. It's different than bombing some FSA groups that got some CIA weapon shipments.
>>
>>76331448
Or they can just wait for Kurdistan to collapse on its own. I mean, Turkey to the North, 2 countries they stole land from to the South, run by Communists internally. How does a country like that even survive?
>>
>>76331997
>Assad will give them some sort autonomy
Why should he? As soon as ISIS is gone, he will focus on the kurds. Turkey is an defacto ally on this matter and will ease the removal of the kurds in the north.
>US support
Their "support" may vanish overnight.

>Or they can just wait for Kurdistan to collapse on its own. I mean, Turkey to the North, 2 countries they stole land from to the South, run by Communists internally. How does a country like that even survive?
"Kurdistan" is being kept alive by heavy foreign support. They will collapse and fall into internal struggle as soon as they've served their purpose.

with a strong nationalist ideology and discipline that holds things together, even when the situation is shit. That's why the Kurds in Syria have working institutions and a government, while the "FSA" and the other anti-Assad groups have nothing. (not getting bombed by Assad helps too, though)

Turkey was air bombing kurds several times before out arrival.
And there were atleast 2 times US "accidently" attacked loyalists, and Assad himself were saying that "Coalition is destroying syrian infrastructure instead of terrorists"
But as i said before after we established military presence, those "accidents" stopped to happen.
>Is Russia bombing IS or bombing everyone who isn't Assad?
Everyone who isnt Assad. However we never touched kurds yet and even cooperated with them against syrian opposition at the Afrin area.
Also we made peace with some opposition but those groups are so small and weak i cant even point them on the map.

Ivan, you are making stuff up. There were no Turkish air strikes in Syria until 2015 and those were approved by all parties as they were against IS.

You are defending your ally. The US is trying to overthrow your ally. Russia is in Syria, the US has assets in Syria.

I'm not sure anyone is scared of anyone else, pretty much just business as usual. The only thing everyone can agree on is that IS is the bad guy, but even they are being used to maintain instability.

Kurds have not been fighting against the Assad opposition, they were even allied with the opposition in the beginning before IS arrived and weakened many of the rebel forces. The Kurds have been fighting against IS.

That was between the YPG and Turkey in 2016. There were rumors of Al Nusra in the area but there was never any proof.

Jaish al-Uswar was in the area that Turkey shelled but Turkey said it was shelling the YPG.

The whole thing was more about Turkey shelling YPG than anything else. Everything else likely fog of war.

Also this was way after Russia became involved in Syria.

In 2012 is was between the FSA and SAA.

Not really, I was always aware they're not much better than FSA, in terms of ethics at least, just look at the name they use to idenfity themselves (Party of Allah). They side with Assad and that's the most logical choice in this war, because FSA is a clusterfuck of jihadi brigades who don't know shit about anything related to politics and they're for the most part a bunch of retards who like to shoot their saudi-funded guns in the air. If for a reason or another FSA manages to get Syria, it will inevitably become Afghanistan 2.0 and there's no doubt about it, at that point ISIS will literally pulverize whatever is left of this unfortunate country, many brigades of FSA joined ISIS in the past and they will do it again in the future.

>The Reform Party of Syria (Arabic: حزب الاصلاح السوري Ḥizb Al-Iṣlāḥ Al-Sūrīy), or RPS is a Syrian political party and lobby group based in the United States that was active in the mid to late 2000s. Its leader Farid Ghadry is a United States citizen and has been described as "controversial" by Al Jazeera.[1] The RPS claims to have been formed in response to 9/11.[2] It is a member of fellow lobbing organization the Coalition Against Terrorist Media.

>WikiLeaks cables released revealed that Ghadry and his organization were viewed as "unwelcome" by Riad Seif,[3] and a Syrian member of parliament described Ghadry as not being a "major figure", and was perplexed by U.S. backing of him.[4] Similarly Haitham al-Maleh, who was later be become a senior figure in the Syrian National Council, viewed Ghadry as an "opportunist".[5]

It doesn't really matter, there're too many different brigades, they probably don't even talk to each other, just like FSA.

so guys you just hit the news, great work. i always ignored the generals and really didn't care about them but im surprised you guys are actually stopping terrorism and not just talking about isis videos or whatever. so now i ask you all, are you afraid of the normies or shills now entering your generals or you just don't care and just want them to bump the threads?
