I really can't help but see NAFTA as benefiting mexico and bringing jobs like auto plants to the country. "Making deals was bad because our economy went down after we started making deals" seems to be reading way too much into just one correlation, there was a bunch of other bad shit that happened in mexico around the same time like Mexico Cartels filling the power vaccuum caused by the demise of the columbian cartels.
