When loving mutti brought the “refugees” brute
They imperiled our homes and enriched us to boot
Now we are left poor, angry, and destitute
Oh the cruel Angela Merkel
Angela the cruel
When bold Frauke Petry did lead AfD
The globalists mocked her and her great country
But she endeavored to keep the Germans free
Oh the cruel Angela Merkel
Angela the cruel
The EU they gnashed and they growled in dismay
“What vote can we hope to smash, steal, or sway?”
Brave Norbert betrayed in the last days of May
Oh the cruel Angela Merkel
Angela the cruel
Our old commissars found this milquetoast and weak
They wished we’d lose hope and no more would speak
The tech firms rose gladly to silence the meek
Oh the cruel Angela Merkel

More than fifty years have passed since Dean Acheson – Secretary of State under the Truman presidency – created a storm of huge proportions by claiming that ‘Great Britain had lost an Empire but not yet found a role’ (Lowrance-Floyd, 2012; Ash, 2010). To many, the British over-reaction appeared to be nothing more than a storm in a teacup; Acheson himself, delivering a message to Arthur Schlesinger Jr., expressed his astonishment and surprise regarding an uproar of such magnitude, wondering, in a tone of bitter sarcasm, who was ‘the unsung genius who read through the whole speech and found that paragraph to cable back to London’ (Acheson cited in Lowrance-Floyd, 2012, p.155). Yet, the tumult around Acheson’s statement had deep roots that originated in a seed of truth. The controversial claim had indeed hit the nail precisely on the head, as, by mentioning an unmentionable truth – perhaps indelicately -, Acheson simply got it right (ibid.). More than fifty years have passed and the role-hunting season is yet to reach its closure (Hannay, 2013). Quite the opposite; It still remains, within the political and academic circles, as an exclusive but nevertheless in vogue sport, ‘the polo of British politics’ (Ash, 2010).

His argument is "it sets a floor not a ceiling."
Nobody contests that. Our floor is higher than the EU's floor. The idea that we rely on the EU for any rights is ridiculous. We had these rights before joining the EU, we'd have these rights if the EU ever existed, and these rights will not go away if we leave. Because MP's are directly accountable to the people. If the Tories threw out worker's rights, they'd become unelectable. Look at what happened to them after Thatcher, and she never did anything half as obscene to the working class.
The entire concept is "democracy is bad because I may not like who gets elected."

I just don't believe that your government is any different from any other corrupt government in the world.
Honestly, I think that it would be hilarious if you left. Good for you and all of that. But after the Greek shenanigans of last year, I simply don't believe that any kind of vote is going to matter. Well, aside from votes that actually do not matter at all, like the American presidential election. It's the same if Trump or Hilary wins. If they aren't already (well, Hilary is, I don't know about Trump), they're going to fall into someone's pocket eventually, and play the role that every other past president has played.
Regardless, I hope that the vote in favor of leaving the EU prevails, so that I can see if I'm right to think this way or not. Hopefully there won't be any voting manipulation bullshit going on. That would be the easiest way out for those that benefit from staying in the EU. It would also prevent a potential confrontation if they tried to stop it from passing.
Why's the UK so divided on this anyway? I'm really not that informed about it. I just don't believe in democracy anymore.

We need to keep this going until at least 4 lads, will be mental
>>76237242
This guy is a fucking retard. Not only is it untrue, not only do we not have 'one currency' and not only do we not have 17 countries, but this kind of logic can be applied to fucking anything. It can be used to say the world should be under one government just because the US works.
>>76237252
So it is.
Good night then, lads.
>>76237252
Yeah it's a nice little county. Some real beauty spots here. Pretty sleepy though. Not a lot happens

>go on normiebook

I went to watch Coldplay on Saturday. These 'Global Citizen' cucks were campaigning for us to stay in the EU. Handing out 'I am a Global Citizen' stick-on tattoos.
>One girl asked me and my gf to sign a gender equality petition.
>we said no
>Global Citizen girl was disgusted

I'm just providing you some insight into how you can be patriotic and profit. You would be following in the footsteps of Sir Isaac Newton for instance, who made a fortune by speculating. I think you need to get in on the euro or daollar action at least a week before, thats when the banks will begin to move their interests. Then after, maybe a week or so after its setlled down, you com in while the pound is still low. You can play with 10 euro for fun, or that grand you were put down at the bookies on a shady 11/4 or whatever it as the moment.
>>76237853
>I went to watch Coldplay on Saturday
>>76237716
A remain vote will see a UKIP surge like the SNP in Scotland. We could get a UKIP government who takes us out anyway in 2020 as the EU bullshit continues. Watch them announce TTIP and the next treaty siphoning away more power shortly after the referendum. It'll be 4 years of "I told you so, cucks."
>>76237784
Only 17 days left of college now.
When I get my qualifications for Uni, friend, I shall shitpost vehemently.

>We'd still be a big presence in Europe and "the world"
>We ran our country successfully for centuries
>We have a parliament that's so robust and in good working order that several countries around the world have copied it
>The EU actually holds back our influence in Europe and "the world"
I'm too tired to make a coherent point so just have these greentext diatribes

Sorry lads this one was shite
>>76238140
GET IN YER
Can a lad tell me what the best outcome of the EU vote being leave is?
So Cameron resigns but then who replaces him? I just don't feel like a new PM will be a good thing given how cunt filled the list of successors is.
Don't let Austria happen to you, Dad. Vote.
>>76237018
>>76237165
So you're saying that your government is actually legit and doesn't bullshit (most of the time)? That's hard for me to believe. It would be a welcome sight to see if it does happen. Well, as little as it may matter I'll keep my fingers crossed for you guys. Good luck leaving the EU.
>>76238021
Yes, at the Etihad.
The girls face was priceless. Everyone else near us signed it. She explained it to us three times to try and convince us.
We just kept saying nah.
>>76238167
Nice try shill. There are not that many remainians on /pol/, if any.
We're all counting on you to start the fire. Vote Brexit.
>>76235864
You forgot to add:
Liberty is a well armed rabbit contesting the vote
>>76237716
>population is already far too cucked/scared to vote leave
But there's fear on both sides.
People vote Leave out of fear of losing control of immigration and being inundated by migrants.
People vote Remain out of fear of the economic consequences of going it alone on trade.
So the main thing that will decide the referendum is this: Which type of fear has gripped the most number of people?
>>76238342
>So you're saying that your government is actually legit and doesn't bullshit (most of the time)?
Nah the cabinet does. the backbenchers who make up the bulk of their representation in parliament don't
Vote Remain, don't be a cuck
>>76238613
Still mad about the falklands eh lad?
>>76238278
>canada
>>76238240
Camaron is under no obligation to resign but if he does, a large portion of the vote Leave camp has grown to accept the idea of a PM Farage.
I don't know the likelihood that this will happen but one can dream.
Best case scenario: we get to sit back and watch whilst Europe burns itself the the ground under the flood of migrants that it opens its anus to. The Pound can grow, unemployment will drop to negligible levels. Britain cultivates a redefined special relationship with America under a Trump presidency.
>>76238613
If you think you are gonna get the Falklands back with an attitude like that, you have another thing coming.
>>76238549
We don't fear immigration. It's literally happening about as bad as it can get. We hate it and want it to stop.
>>76238613
I don't think cuck means what you think it means.
Bloomberg and The Economist show Remain ahead. Are they viable sources? My Jewish friend is showing me them over and over. No sarcasm.
>>76238549
People will always want to export to Britain and they will always want their tourist dollars. They have an incredible bargaining position and legitimate military capabilities to back up their massive espionage operations. Anybody who is afraid of short term economic Brexit consequences needs to be reminded that their country is immensely powerful.
>>76239121
The Economist conveniently stopped updating their poll tracker last week just as Leave pulled ahead
>>76239121
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opinion_polling_for_the_United_Kingdom_European_Union_membership_referendum
It leaves a couple off but 10x better than The Economist shills, they're as bad as The Guardian but at least that rag don't pretend they are non-partisan.
>tfw born in Scotland to American parents
>tfw could have been a dual citizen but Dad was "too proud" of America to let me have two nationalities
i regret it every day desu

What will her majesty vote?
>>76237830
the funny thing is the context for that image is burns offering the box as an option instead of a washer+dryer for a bribe to nuclear inspectors
the symbolism being that we're merely being offered staying in the EU as a bribe
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZiYvxT_y-c4
>>76239202
>Anybody who is afraid of short term economic Brexit consequences needs to be reminded that their country is immensely powerful.
And also reminded of the ability of non-EU countries like Switzerland, Iceland, and Norway to enjoy successful trade.
>>76240959
had the most retarded 'discussion' with two of my mum's friends who're voting remain
their question was literally "if we leave, where will we get our food from?"
fucking retarded
i told them the balance of trade with europe favours ourselves in a tariff war, as we buy nearly double what we export to the EU
they had no counterpoints
>>76240548
>What will her majesty vote?
I believe she has said some things that suggest she supports Leave.
>>76231343
If Brexit is a go I'll cry my eyes out tb h lads. Godspeed
>>76241116
>we buy nearly double what we export to the EU
Thanks, I didn't know that. So it looks like EU needs UK more than UK needs EU.
I'm betting that the EU will collapse like a house of cards if Leave wins.
