If they were actually trying to hide the evidence of their crimes, as is claimed, and knew at least a month in advance that they were going to lose the war, would they not start burning the shoes - the record of their victims by your own claim? Would they not at least make sure that a few thousand shoes were burned with each load of corpses, etc?
