I personally believe that but Norbert Hofer will save a slender advantage over time, since I do not think that Van der Bellen is dominated by absentee ballot so clear. Behind van der Bellen the complete Etablishment had placed and the media coverage was mostly clear against Hofer. What were there painted for doomsday scenarios on the wall when Hofer was elected.
I once attended a guest lecture of Dr. van der Bellen at my university. He has at least left no lasting impression on me. The course itself was very boring although. I would ask the technical qualifications of Dr. van der Bellen never in question. In the field of economics, it is one of the best German-speaking professors even if I can not win much from his convictions.
Did any of you hear it talk Norbert Hofer? This man has charisma, argues stringently and has already gained experience in real life. And Austria is currently in many areas not well there. The crime has increased significantly, and unemployment is very high and many Austrians do not know how to make ends meet. Therefore, it is but logical to choose the candidate with experience in everyday life (Hofer woman, for example, geriatric nurse). Also Hofer directly democratic approach and its Euroscepticism I like and share them as well. Alone as van der Bellen has boasted about the entire upper crust (the EU politicians, the media, ÖVP and SPÖ politicians and the majority left art scene) would make him unelectable for me. Hofer was elected by the true performers who work really add value and not by state coal receivers. A politician who has remained more on the ground than Norbert Hofer will hardly find. Something that is possible is being in the opposition and harshly criticizing the government parties on a constant basis. The end result will be that the polls show government parties losing support while nationalist party's gaining it. This can pressure the mainstream parties into pushing for nationalist policies.
Another alternative is joining the government with bigger parties and extorting them. A smaller party can state that they won't back up some other government policies unless if the government accepts in exchange the immigration policies they want.
