If one engine failed the plane can still fly fine. If both engines fail (both failing at the same time is extremely unlikely) they can still glide in a controlled way for a long time.

Except it doesn't at all. The plane was far too far from land and far too high for missiles from the usual suspects to have hit it and commercial airliners can't even attempt to maneuver out of the path of a missile (even if they could, the specific movements made make no sense).
