When the soviets rolled into Latvia in 1940, it only took them a SINGLE year to make Latvians welcome back Germans in 1941 with open arms. Note that for 700 years Germans and Latvians were mortal enemies.
In that one year the Russians basically executed all of our government as well as military (officers and high ranks).

And cavalry against tanks sounds stupid, but it worked VERY well. The early german tanks were shit and our cavalry destroyed a lot of them (they obviously didn't charge at them, they took favorable positions and shredded them with anti tank guns).
