But to answer your question: my power level is always exposed, since I live in a large white town with lots and lots of guns. About 45 minutes from St. Louis, and every person here is generally racist and anti-government. We've nearly doubled in size since Ferguson, and it's all white-flight gun-owners. /pol/ is the only place I discuss politics online, so my power level is always exposed.

The American military was never meant to "defeat" the Taliban, just like we had no real intention of defeating the NVA in Vietnam. It's all a money pit to throw MIC dollars into. American politicians make war for money and only money. We could have carpet-bombed Iraqi cities using dirt cheap dumb bombs and saved trillions, it worked on the Germans, and our media outlets could have easily swayed the public into believing it was necessary. But we didn't. We instead used all of our most expensive toys for over a decade. Think about it.

And even if you go with the idea that a lot of ice is just a sheet over water and not a glacier. There's still no way a massive % of the ocean cannot handle that increase from a small portion. I do believe we need to adjust our carbon emissions and what not. But not for fear of drowning the earth. But because fossil fuels won't last forever. Nuclear power is the way to save the human race.

Ancient ice-age shorelines are miles out to sea today, meaning enough water was locked up to drop the sea-level on a global level. Of course, this was when whole continents were covered in a sheet of ice more than a mile thick, but I'd be at least a little concerned that a total melt (if it occurred) of the polar caps could fuck over coastal cities. Then again I fucking hate New York and California and live far inland, so my concern is pretty minimal.
