The scary part about leftists isn't their ideas. Its their inability and unwillingness to accept, on a fundamental level, that differing opinions, ideas, values, and ideologies exist.
Its not enough that they have enemies. Their enemies must be "mad" or "ignorant" or "satire". Its why they go to such great lengths trying to "explain" the Trump phenomena.
Because the real answer, that millions of Americans actually agree with him, is incomprehensible to their mindset. Its the most insulting concept imaginable. "You don't actually disagree with me, you just think that you do" says the Leftist, and means it.
