If I remember correctly, the partisan shift caused by minorities is actually faster than the partisan shift caused by "being young".
You can really see that in this election. Just about every data-nerd analysis I read of Trump's chances in the general election are saying that the Latino vote is going to be the biggest factor. I haven't read nearly as much about the effect of the millennial-democratic shift -- possibly because millennials don't vote as much.
So I suspect that this millennial shift is going to be a time-bomb that will really explode in a few years, once millennials start voting more.
In the past, the conventional wisdom was that people get more conservative as they get older -- but as you can see from the chart I posted, the exact opposite is happening with both the Xers or the millennials. So this could be quite a huge problem for the Republicans in the next decade.
