The only reasonable excuse to support it would be to protect eastern European states from Russia. And an argument can be made for that based on Russia's action in Ukraine. However one of the reasons Russia is so active in Ukraine is because the west is trying to get Ukraine in the EU which would obviously be disastrous for Russia. The funny part is none of this would be necessary if the UN actually did it's fucking job. Personally I think Russia having Crimea is a good thing, and instead of NATO all the eastern European countries should just form their own military alliance, unfortunately it seem none of them are even concerned about Ukraine.
