does /pol/ understand basic calculus? If you can't solve this without a program you shouldn't be allowed to reproduce

nice indefinite integral brohime
>>71698174
yeah maybe I would be able to if the white man wasn't keeping me down, I'm sure my spacefaring Egyptian ancestors could have, they invented calculus after all
math is gay lmao
>tfw failed grade 11 pre-calculus
>tfw got 90% in grade 11 and 12 applied math
I took calculus, multi variable calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, abstract algebra, real analysis, all that shit in college. Haven't used it even a day since then, so I forgot all of it. I'm sure it'd come back if I took a refresher course.
No way I could do that by hand now. Calculus was several years ago.
Then again, if you think being able to solve integrals by hand is the main take-away of calculus then you should probably retake it yourself.
>>71698469
>Applied math
>Not academic
Fucking casual
Sorry, this isn't the homework board. Thats >>>/sci/
besides, no one is gonna write the gross answer to the indefinite integral on a website that uses basic text
>>71698174
i understand basic calculus. and i know that the answer to that is infinity.
but knowing trigonemetric functions should not even be basic calculus. it is the bane of calculus. trig calc should be tought in engineering disciplines and science disciplines by itself. that way normal people can into calculus.
memorizing the second derivative of sin(cos)(x^2)^4 is fucking retarded. now that i understand higher math i can figure it all out, but how cal 2 is taught is pretty much just a memorization course in trig function derivatives and intergrals
>>71698750
I finished my exam earlier this week. Not asking for any homework help here
>>71698715
I am a fucking casual.
Just scraped by in grade 11 chemistry and physics, failed grade 12 chemistry and physics.
90% in grade 12 biology, was easy as fuck.
>>71698174
What's the point of math when social science problems such as pic related are so much more useful?
>>71698973
>indefinite integral
>answer is infinity
Bro do you even calculus
>>71698542
This...
I have taken calc1-3 and differential equations and forgot how to do that shit.
The point of taking those classes is to increase your problem solving and critical thinking skills. This is absolutely no application.
>>71698994
so the requirement to reproduce is something you learned a week ago
>>71699094
the answer that the math you are talking about is infinity. you know it as an indefinite because you are retarded and are probably still in high school. and yes it is inefinite. but the actual function that it is doing is taking a sum of everything under a tangent line, and the answer to that is infinity.
you are the person who doesn't understand math. but please regurgitate what your high school AP teacher is teaching you.
>the answer to an indefinite integral is infinity
OP was right. None of nerds even deserve to live
I'm god awful at math OP, but can you program RNA sequencing in viruses? I can.
Bet you don't even understand gene sequencing, maybe you shouldn't reproduce.
>>71698174
If I'd been better at maths I wouldn't have gone into writing and politics. I'd be busy dicking around in lab trying not to say, do, or discover anything that would make the SJW's ruin me.
>>71699272
There is a specific closed form expression for thiis integral though. Therefore the actual indefinite intregral itself is not infinity. Not knowing that is literally not understanding the fundamentals of calculus
>Gone through three years of calculus and applied math for my dev degree
>Never really liked math, but could get around it
>fastforward six years, post and master degree
>the only thing I use is discrete math.
I think I feel for the computer is for smart people only meme.
What a waste of time. The reality is so different from what is taught on colleges.
>>71698174
I like calculus. Fuck trig though
Just as bad as memorizing history dates baka
No idea. High school dropout.
Coincidentally I support my family with my genetic offspring no problem. Nice house, nice cars, new technological devices like phones and video game consoles.
Get a fucking trade you losers. I pass by houses where families benefit from the contribution I made to their lives every day. How many of you can say the same?
>>71699272
>the actual function that it is doing is taking a sum of everything under a tangent line, and the answer to that is infinity
Fucking what bub? An indefinite integral isn't infinity, it returns a function that describes the area underneath the curve between two points on the axis of integration
>all these post secondary cucks
Why aren't you a part of the blue collar master race making 90k/year like I am right out of highschool?

this so fucking much

integral of tan(x)^(1/2) being basic calculus. lmao no. You learn this shit in calc 2. Basic calculus would be the power rule.

>>71699804
Thats it, mexican bro. Welcome to the real world.
For the niche I ended up finding my passion in, which is web, the closer to math I get is adding up and subtracting.
Knowledge is good, of course it is, what enrages me is the shit I had to hear during the course. Since I didn't like it very much, and I wasnt a kid anymore, I've had some rough times and I had times my brain just blocked it out completely. I had calc teachers and colleagues coming up to me and saying that I should quit because I would never be a good programmer.
Now I make apps for iOS and Android besides my personal projects and startups and get a paycheck that some people could only dream.
Sometimes I wish I could go back in time in sucker punch everyone in my old class.
>>71698174
I'm going to reproduce anyways leaf

Indefinite integral with a simple trig identity. Welcome to high school calculus/freshman calculus. Keep the ball rolling and separate yourself from the normies.
Here's an example problem from my homework and I'm not claiming superior intellect, only that numbers get more interesting the deeper you go:
Stokes Theorem:
> a) Prove that F=[(2xy+3)i + (x^2-4z)j - 4yk] is a conservative force field
> b) Find phi such that F=(gradient)phi
> c) Evaluate the indefinite integral_C*F*dr, where C is any path from (3, -1, 2) to (2, 1, -1)
Knock yourself out, mang.
>>71698174
I was going to do a 2nd degree taylor expansion and integrate, but people broke the rules for the rest of us : (
>>71700488
fucks point of knowing stokes theorem, just understand stoke shift in spectroscopy and you're good to go
>>71700488

>>71698174
Why should I understand this?
How would it help me achieve happiness in life?
>>71698174
I know the answer. I have a masters in EE.
>>71698174
your ability to solve this equation is inversely proportionate to the quality of woman you could attract to reproduce with
>>71700143
Not even, calc 2 wouldn't even touch that integral unless the professor is an asshole.
>>71701230
No it's like a magnetic field. You create a chart of vectors where the length of the vectors describe the strength of the field at that point in space.
I'm an engineering student and have yet to use anything I learned in calc 3 outside some theoretical stuff in an early physics course.
Diff eqs is a different story and a much more useful course.
>>71700178
Go home Norm, you're drunk.
>>71698174
so Im most of the way through calc 2 and I just spent like 20 minutes trying to do this by substitution, parts, trig identities, weird multiplyong by 1/1 shit until I plugged it into mathematica and saw this eliptical bullshit

a) Curl (F) = i(4-4) + j(0-0) + k(2x - 2x) = Zero vector.
b) f(x,y,z) = x^2 * y + 3x - 4yz + constant
c) Since f is continuous use fundamental theorem?
f(2,1,-1) - f(3,-1,2) = 14 - 8 = 6?
>>71703099
Also Green's theorem and the other two 3d dudes, the definition of differential (both types), integrals, LaPlace transformations, random geometric series stuff, and a bunch of C set stuff (beyond the e^i(pi)-1=0 meme).
Maybe some entry-level eidetic memory, dunno.
Thing is, I must have been really smart a couple of years ago, 'cause now math looks like an English textbook to a nigger.
