Well I think I've always considered Southern parts and cities of Brazil more welcoming/comfy, but I heard some bad things about Sao Paolo's certain (most) city parts in which you shouldn't go into if you are a foreigner or even worse a female one at that (one fem friend went there + Brazilia for a month or so), but the local villages and rural places around there were top notch and so were the residents from there.
