If you are morbidly obese walking is one of the worst things you can do to yourself. The body can only handle so much before it breaks down. A low impact form of cardio is much better for a beginner. i.e. exercise bikes and ellipticals.

This depends variety of factors. I would recommend walking with caution. Starting from small distances and gradually increasing while progressing while paying attention to any signs of failing joints. Walking is IMO a good way to start as it is more motivating than lifting. One actually gets to see places and to breath fresh air.

People believe eating fat makes you fat. The truth is that fat reduces calories overall in studies.
Of course if you down too much food it won't matter. However in my experience and based on the studies I read its mostly sugar thats adding the pounds on for most people.
