In a shocking move likely to crush the US economy overnight, China is refusing to make its new gold-backed Yuan, convertible from or to US Dollars.

When the International Monetary Fund (IMF) agreed to add the Yuan to the basket of world currencies used for Global Reserves and International Trade, they wanted China to make the Yuan more reliable as a currency. Since then, China has almost un-pegged its Yuan from the Dollar, allowing its value to fluctuate on world markets.

But for years, China has been amassing huge amounts of gold bullion; some have said their appetite for bullion has been “staggering.” And with a new gold-backed Yuan to be issued next Tuesday, the entire world will have a choice of a new currency to use for international trade: The old US Dollar which is backed by nothing, or the new Chinese Yuan, which is backed by gold. Which currency would YOU use?

When this new currency is issued, countries that have been forced to use US Dollars for decades, and have had to keep billions of dollars in their foreign currency reserves, will be free to dump those dollars. But they won’t be able to dump them to China for the new gold-backed, Yuan!

China has reportedly decided ”there can be no conversion of gold-backed Yuan to or from US dollars.” What China fears is that many countries around the world will want to trade their reserve US dollars for the new Yuan, leaving China with mountains of worthless US dollars. China already has several trillion in US dollar reserves and does not want or need more.

If news of this decision by China is correct, then countries around the world may just have to decide whether or not they wish to continue trading with the USA at all?

The upheaval this could cause as early as next week, would be staggering.

This is a fast-developing story; check back.

China is already no 1 economy. Problem with people in USA is that they don't really understand how fragile their economy is. Your only power right now is the ability to create more and more money that have absolutely no backing. China have found out about it when you dropped the value of your money couple of years before and they have lost billions. This is why they moved to gold standard and started to buy as much gold as they could. Right now USA will be strong for as long as dollars will be used as international currency. The moment this will change USA is done.

US far outspends every other nation for its military, at over $500 billion, with China coming second at over $200 billion

Do you not understand how military and economics are intertwined

Google something first if you have no knowledge on the subject matter
>>
>>71506905
The value of gold itself is still just as arbitrary as "trust in a nation", in fact backing a currency by something legitimately useful like oil makes much, much more sense.

Champ the whole idea of taking currencies off of a physically-backed standard is because there's too many people and not enough of any certain thing for the amount of the thing to be reasonable in comparison.

Gold is used in a lot of electronics, research, space applications, it's used for a hell of a lot more than just shitty jewelry and a source of backing value for some paper. If all the gold we had processed and on hand was equated to all the money that needs to be represented in just the USA's GDP gold would cost 3,300 per ounce right now.
If we try to use gold to represent the entire world's economy gold would cost 13,000 per ounce

Outside of gold-backed still being a total FIAT (a concept many of you fail to understand) what this would do to the medical, industrial, and electronics industry is fucking awful.

Money has and will never have any value outside of what the collective group determines it is worth, and choosing gold, silver, plutonium, oil, bullets or just thin air to represent that value will never change a thing fundamentally.

I wonder what would happen to China if there economy did so well it was no a serious economical advantage to operate in their country.

One of the reasons China is in the state that it is finacially is because they artifically devalue its currency.

People dont realise that the moment China has a valuble currency thats the moment everyone leaves China.

Its a terrible place for a country to find itself. Forcing itself to be poor so that the people who came there to take advantage of their impoverished people for the purposes of manual labor will stay and remain taking advantage of their poor people.

The second china has a currency that can get its people ahead will be the moment china crashes into the ground.. never to get up again.

If China's economy becomes totally independent of the dollar, the rest of the world will run it into the ground on purpose because China is just a giant factory disguised as a country. >It's not like US factories would be incapable of producing them if China decided they no longer wished to trade.
Production on something like a complicated and highly integrated part can't just start instantly.

You can't just make a part in a new factory either, you'd have to re-engineer the part essentially from scratch if you're bringing it up in a new facility.

It would take at least two years on WAR FOOTING to get our electronics component industry back into the shape it was in in the 1980s production-numbers wise, let alone fulfill today's demands.

I've read all about it, the RAND corporation publishes reports about these kinds of issues.

>Gold is used in a lot of electronics, research, space applications
True enough, but this is not 1975 anymore. The amount of gold used on electrical connections is in the range of angstroms thick, and also has been largely replaced by aluminum. Also new semiconductors based on graphene and other new materials are at worst only 10-15 years out. Platinum's main use is for catalysts which if the enviro nuts have there way with be largely rendered obsolete by electric cars. As for all the rare earth elements, the only reason China has a monopoly on the market is they don't give two fucks about the environment, between the USA, Australia, and Canada (also in the future asteroid mining) there is an ample non-chink supply
>>
>>71509607
>Production on something like a complicated and highly integrated part can't just start instantly.

That's true, and the lack of parts would cause massive issues while the various factories were being built/overhauled but eventually it'd be fine.

The other option would be sourcing parts from other countries, presumably some parts are made in Taiwan and India as well.

>How do Americans have nothing to back their currency on?

USA print their money every time they need, but money in concept represent only the overall value of everything you have. The thing is that at one point USA decided to print more than they have which would lead to inflation, but because dollar is international then it worked like a tax for everyone except USA (because you ignore your public debt). You stopped using gold standard for a reason.

>If we sold half of our gold shares right now everyone and their grandma would be debt free

Not really. You should better check your reserves and read about your government scams with your gold (like wolfram coated with thin gold layer). There is also a matter of proportion. You might still have a lot of gold, but is it as much as you claim you economy stands for in dollars? Nope. If you would be forced to pay in gold instead of dollars your economy would collapse in days, maybe weeks. This is why you wanted to attack Iran - because they wanted to drop pertodollars and change the currency.

>But we don't need to do that since America is the greatest military machine in the world, no one can collect on the debt

They will not be able to collect that debt but you would become unsafe for business and that would've kill you faster than any war.

I'm not hater or an enemy to USA. I actually like it, but facts are facts, you are in deep shit and everyone using dollars are as well in this.
>>
>>71509860
>eventually it'd be fine
What is worrisome is the possibility of shipping being interrupted, and the inability to get parts production moving fast enough.

This is why I think a good economic war with China will be for the best - we can get some of the industries we need for the national defense back up to speed.

The question has never been about inherent value, of course it does not have an inherent value, kek.

The value of gold in relation to the unbacked paper dollar is that gold is scarce and it takes a lot of time and effort to boost the money supply by mining it, while fiat only requires a printing press.

The other question is, value to whom? To those who own the printing press, the gold is of course worse than their paper currency since they cannot print more, inflate the money supply and trigger business cycles with malinvestments. Gold is good for those who want their money to not lose - or in fact increase through deflation - purchasing power.

So remember, when you shill for fiat, you are shilling for the kikes who run the central banks.

>>71505002

Inflation and deflation is how we keep our market stable since we don't have tariffs like China which can use that to influx or de flux the price of the yun on how they see fit for the quarter, it's bad Keynesian economics but it's all we have unless we start doing our own tariffs

And as for the gold thing, they did a study on how much gold was left compared to the national debt, you can find it with a quick Google search

And 3rd point is that more people would rather do business with America then China due to cultural popularity that paints Americans in a positive image while communistic policies makes China men look bad

A gold backed economy is just as susceptible to manipulation as anything else.
The problem starts when the major powers decides on a centralized nation or institute to house the majority of it.
The problem furthers when modern computing and internet connectivity make controlling the supply and demand a child's game.

Aside from modern technology, there has never been a time in the history of humanity where gold did not end up being consolidated and manipulated for the "elite of the elite"s game.

That's not true, you can't just print gold.

What that means is if you lend it at interest it has to be productive in the form of (ultimately) more gold which is difficult and expensive to obtain. It means usury will go way down and property will become much more affordable, as the buyers market will crater.

Oh yea like anyone is gonna trust a currency backed by the biggest liars on the planet. China will just lie about its gold reserves and set the price at whatever the hell it wants now.

No but they do have iAMT and vPro onboard, which include such features as

>full VNC for remote control or monitoring of the computer
>ability to remotely mount drives
>ability to kill processes remotely
>ability to activate the camera or mic
>etc

I will post this so everybody can read about it. I mean didn't you hear? Snowden blew the lid on shit 100x as fancy as mere backdoored computer hardware.

You should look up Richard Stallman's view of a thing called "proprietary blobs" to understand the depth and breadth of just how small your control over your devices are.

You aren't telling me anything I don't already know.

>How can we keep track of this? You know, watch the changes? Will this new Yuan replace China's currency?

I use Mathematica myself, which thanks to the WA integration gets me all the data I need.

But you can watch the prices of the various currencies involved, gold, etc. Read this:

Also recall that two years ago, the Chinese "opened" up their stock markets to foreign investors.

However, you didn't buy real stock. You would get a 'investment share' which would pay a dividend (and they have, so far) but the whole thing is a shell operation.

Just a way to sell tickets to a ride.

Take advantage of the fact that I am unusually well-informed on these matters anons, I'm likely one of the only ones in the whole thread who even has a clue as to what this all means.

ASK AWAY!

I like you too, you're the only other one around here with a clue about what this all means.

Let's be friends, but just in this thread.

Oh look they won't give me data about the exchange rate, my guess is because there's a bank switchover interfering with the FOREX.

Holy fuck it actually might be happening.

I have my guns, gold, and land right here, and I live in a very rural area with a beautiful high test wife. If they want to come kill me, so be it, but I'm not running.

WWIII chance in 2016? I say about 18%. I still think we have a couple years, but it'll be a bloodbath economically all around the world sooner than that.

Remember wars are simply the continuation of politics, but with force, as Clausewitz says.

Yep, i know.
But i live in a place with lots of woods, fresh water and game and with a population density lower then 30 per square km so i think i am in the best position i can be. I can't afford a doomsday bunker in New Zeeland.

Look at the red on that map.

They are China's protectorates and economic vassals as of today.

Just wait and see, this whole fiasco has been an interest of mine for years.
