A high intelligence individual is very well-suited to a complex, civilized, modern life. A much harsher environment is significantly less conducive and tends to bring out depression, anxiety, and various neuroses that are already latent in high-intelligence individuals at the best of times. You see, there is a genetic cost to every benefit.
Look at all the smartest people throughout History and you can see many of them struggled to fit in to society, many of them struggled to survive on their own, many of them were dependent upon others, family and loved ones, sometimes large networks of stupider people who had to basically pool their resources to take care of these genius individuals. It's fine to have a few geniuses in a society but too many geniuses and the society crumbles much faster and implodes much more catastrophically than it does from a lack of intelligence.
For things like wilderness survival, combat survival, etc. pure intelligence by itself does more harm than good, if anything. The stupid people that you guys who fancy yourself to be geniuses love to dismiss could make the difference between life and death for you if you were lost in the woods.
