I went to Harvard college and it was fine. Certain elements were becoming more SJW'd by the time I graduated, but it's a very compartmentalized school in a lot of ways. For the most part, you don't have to deal with people that you don't particularly like.
My impression was that a lot of students were mercenary strivers who were mainly concerned with money and power. SJW stuff didn't seem to have all that many "true believers," as opposed to cynical opportunists who used their "activism" as a resume line for grad school applications or job applications to certain left-wing foundations/government agencies.

The agriculture school is genuinely really good and attracts top students from around the US and beyond. ILR is also a very strong program with amazing resources. Cornell is not as selective as Harvard, Yale, or Princeton, and virtually everyone who studies there as an undergraduate has been rejected by those three. Many of the grad programs are quite amazing.
It's very simply one of the best universities in the world and has a large number of seriously important faculty members as well as phenomenal facilities and a beautiful campus. It's a really good place and also happens to be a place with a lot of progressively minded people, though there's nothing like an official university political policy. There are plenty of conservatives on campus too and people like Ann Coulter even went there.

Not really. I was a good student in high school but I went overboard Senior year and stopped showing up to school. I had a lot of built up anger that came pouring out since I had a few issues growing up. The war in Syria got me pretty depressed and a few other things fucked me over. I actually went to community college for a year then I managed to get in here. Applied to other elite schools but of course I didn't get in since I basically went from third in my class to 67th. Yeah I know. Growing up I thought I was going to become a doctor because my mom wanted be to be one. But as I got older I realized I didn't care for the medical field. And now the situation in Syria has me seriously questioning what I want to do with my life. I feel directionless. Also coming here made me realize I shit a shit work ethic since I was never really challenged in school. Also I feel like I never accomplished anything significant with my life. I'm surrounded by so many talented folks and I've always been the kid to never stick with anything long enough on my own to get good at it. Like I always wanted to learn more about programming when I was younger but I lacked the discipline to teach it to myself. It was only when I got here that I was able to learn it for real. Makes it feel like my entire life is a waste even though its probably not. I blame the internet and its many distractions. Sorry for the rant, its cathartic.

are you studying CS now? it's really a lot of fun, and i like it as a career. new puzzles a lot and interesting people for the most part who are into beer and nerdy stuff. you still have a shit ton of time left in life, and it's easy to not stick with things if you are good at everything. just pick something that you dont mind doing and can make money at (like CS), so you can do all of those other little things that catch your interest at nights and on the weekends. plus you will have the money to do fun stuff with a good job.
