I´m currently working on my master´s degree in biochemistry and I´m seriously thinking about going to the US for my PhD and never coming back.
I´m from bavaria and I love the culture, the landscape and the cities here, but I´ve come to hate german mentality. The people here are subservient serfs and proud of it. Whenever I discuss freedom of speech they tell me that it needs to be restricted by the government and we need higher taxes (we already pay almost 50 fucking percent). Guns are considered evil and everybody that has them (like me, I´m a sports shooter) has a small dick to compensate for (literally what a lot of them said).
On the other hand I love the idea behind the US. A constitution which grants inalienable rights, unrestricted freedom of speech and the empowerment of the people to stand up to tyranny.
My question to you would be: How well will an educated european be received in the US? Are there reservations against all immigration, including from europe/germany?
Maybe some of you have moved to the US as well and can share their experience. Thanks in advance.
