I would love for Greece to be friends with Balkan countries. Relationship with Albania is improving, but Slav countries still have the stigma of being seen as invaders of sorts. I know FYROM considers themselves "Macedonian" in an effort to find a distinct national identity, but that effort comes of as half-assed, arrogant and uncivilised.
You can't revise history as you please, and you can't attack peoples that have lived in your claimed historical territories for Millenia like that. Personally, I think it's honorable and beautiful that FYROM has decided to adopt some Ancient Greek history as their own, but I think that there should be a conscious understanding of their real roots, and an inherent respect for Greece as it is today. If you adopted Greek as a second language in schools, it would be an amazingly nice gesture that could bring us closer, for example.
Once again: I'd love for our countries to be friends. But you have to remove the stigma (τη "ρετσινιά") of the "invader" and show more respect to your senpais before you are acknowledged.
