should we raise the minimum wage
>>
>>70558786
No
>>
We should lower it
>>
I don't know
>>
yes

however, no matter what we do, business are going to get rid of people any way they can. they'll use the "government raising min wage" as an excuse like they always do. they are replacing people with machines no matter what.
>>
No. I'd rather keep the automation revolution on hold for a few more years.

Let's do what Bernie wants. 15/hr minimum wage job. You're still working a shitty job that you hate, but at least you'll be making decent money until inflation kicks in.

Forget about real jobs that can support an entire family on one salary, don't you want to make a living flipping burgers???
>>
Yes, either that or we institute price controls.

The minimum wage should keep up with inflation or we need to control inflation. Simple as that
>>
>>70558914
Good, you dumb shits can't even get a fucking good order right one time. How fucking hard is it to make a cheese burger and put the fucking fries in with it?
>>
>>70558786
No, let the market decide labor rates and leave the Government out of it.
>>
>>70558914
>>70559004

If it gets to the point where more than 25% of people are unemployable the govt will just step in and say no you can't replace all basic jobs with machines, or better yet just put them all on permanent welfare at a comfortable living rate

this is not a good thing
>>
>the government has to force private businesses to determine their workers' wages

Yeah, fuck that.

Slightly. Prices of everything keep going up and 7.25 isn't enough to live on. I know it isn't meant to live on, but sometimes there are no other options.

Minimum wage is a solution that works for some time, but in the long term your economy will suffer and unemployment will rise. It has happened in the entire world. And if you manage somehow to stop the unemployment from rising, your economy will suffer. Unless, of course, you have natural resources to keep your undead economy going, like Norway, Sweden or Russia.

There should be no minimum. Return to the days of slavery. This isn't a joke. If people aren't willing to better themselves through education they should be treated and controlled like the cattle they are. Instead of beef, they're donating their idiocy to pressing buttons. Automation can't come soon enough. I'm once robo McDonald's is in place, we can butcher the slaves and sell their meat for profit.

Raise it with inflation, but not to the absurd $15/hr people are demanding.

The minimum wage is barely higher today than when I started working nearly 18 years ago.

People too lazy to get a promotion or a decent education, can't even raise a stable family deserve more money in exchange for voting a politician who will write laws their bosses must follow.

You mean the educated, professional working class?

There would be a lot more of those if credit for student loans wasn't as plentiful so the cost of education would be much lower, but in a climate where getting a well-paying job for your degree would be priority number one. How do you cap runaway credit? We could start by not printing so much goddamn currency, which a $15/h wage would almost certainly accomplish the opposite.

No. Less then 1% of Americans are on minimum wage. When it is raised, good people lose jobs and hours are cut, like was seen in Australia, where since the min. wage was established there are 96,000 jobs lost for every 1% increase in the minimum wage

We should not sacrifice employment oppertunities and increases financial burdens on private businesses because useless niggers and single moms can't climb up the career ladder, tax payers shouldn't have to hold their hands. Only Millennial BernieCucks with no understanding of economics would say otherwise.

You're saying that as if I don't agree with you, but I do. We should be very strict on immigration and enforce the law. But we should also not raise the minimum wage. It's not black and white.

Also economics is nearly everything, the longevity of a nation is comprised of the health and vitality of it's economy. It has to be flexible and capital has to flow freely. In that vein, we shouldn't be using tax payer money to give Jamal more money while prices rise and the purchasing power of the dollar is reduced almost yearly.

Wrong, you clearly didn't read anything I wrote. I want to help people, so I don't want to reduce the amount of jobs available nationally so less then 1% of the American population, mostly minorities and single mothers, can be propped up by taxpayers by artificially raising their wage. It's a childish concept. When I was a teenager and didn't understand economics sure I thought the government could just raise away without any repercussions, why shouldn't they right? But then I wizened up and read a fucking book or two.

Why would they need an excuse? Businesses have been automating everything possible at an enormous rate. They have no obligation to employ people.

You're assuming, though, that automation implies less jobs, when in an economy without business licensing and payroll/business income taxes, there'd be an abundance of people attempting to start new companies.

Realistically, what will happen on a societal level as more and more jobs become automated? Will we get rid of the need for money? Will we create a basic income safety net? This is the opposite of reality in the US. If anti-monopoly measures disappeared there would be a single digit number of enterprises within 20 years.

Of course this will never happen as economic populism, not good economics are at the forefront of every party.

>>70571522
I read a science fiction short story where humans had advanced so much that no one had to work, and they prohibited having children because otherwise the population would go out of control. Some women couldn't resist their instinct to have kids so they would run away from the ez life high tech society, to live outside the city in abandoned houses like savages, where they raised kids. The protagonist's job was to go looking for illegal babies and shoot them.

Anyway, I agree, taking away breeding rights might work well. I hope it happens.

The problem is that not a single fucking system will work as long as the Human factor is considered.
The human will always look for a way to benefit himself even if it is at the expense of others.

TodayĀ“s competition is pretty much jackshit because of global corporations keeping everything under their dick.

Only "Real" Competition would be a war.
If you lose you get bombed the fuck out.
Just look at what happened between ww1 and ww2.

From wood and cloth airplanes where they fucked each others with handguns from some meters off the ground to jet-powered monsters that went as high as the human body itself could and then the Nuclear weaponry.

Then the Aerospacial race kicks in and we are sending each other to space in a dick-measuring contest.

TodayĀ“s corporate world is just driving us to the ground for the 1% wealth.
We need to straighten the business. Socialism will just Fuck shit up faster.

My solution
get rid of the niggers
Bring back Super-nationalism
cut relationships with the big banks, israel and the reserve.
Maybe another conventional war, but it could go to worse.

Why have ethical cocoa farms when we can just buy bargain cocoa from the Chocolate islands?

Why Have ethical and well-paid factories in our own ground when we can just hire some chink-slaves who will do it for pennies, lol just put nets so they dont kill themselves so easily training them is a hassle you know.

>he doesn't realize that inflation is a good thing

You do realize that deflation was a staple of the great depression right?

It's very simple economically, if money goes up in value by a huge margin then people hoard it more tightly which means less investment, less spending, less economic growth in general. The economy isn't money, it's the goods and services that money is used to buy and the quality of life that comes with that.

Sure, over inflation is a terrible thing, but there is a threshold where it becomes a problem, otherwise inflation is a natural and important part of an economy. Deflation at any rate is harmful to the economy.

>But because they use slave labor that means we get the product for cheap. That's called competition.
That's not how outsourcing works.
Outsourcing products doesn't just count for the labor and materials, it counts for the shipping and any other fees they have to pay for using operations in that country.
The main reason companies pay this money is mainly because producing the product domestically is too costly to obtain a net gain in profit.
This includes minimum wage, taxes, regulations, legal fees, and I may be forgetting some, but it's really fucking costly to make shit here and it's not only the wages that are doing it.

The real problem is that we did away with manufacturing so there goes more opportunities people could have had and there would be more competition for lower end labor. But now grown adults are competing with young high school kids for basic fast food/walmart jobs.

Why did manufacturing leave? Over regulation and high min wages that add to the cost of hiring each employee. So they close down their American factory and open up one in Asia or Latin America. Now jobs are more scarce than ever for the unskilled. Which lead to more crime and welfare recipients.

I don't think you really get the power dynamics of the situation. There are alot more people than there are jobs nowadays. Sure, some company may give better wages, but it's not like mcdonalds has to compete with them on wages because there will always be more and more people who need to earn money. Mcdonalds employees don't have a union either, so they can't threaten to strike or apply pressure in any way.

First of all, people who actually produce things in America make WAY more than minimum wage.

I'm really into fashion for instance. A leather jacket made in America will have high quality and high cost. A leather jacket made in China will have low quality and medium cost.

The people putting these leather jackets together in America don't make minimum wage. They don't make $10/hr, they probably make between 12 and $20 an hour.

Compare that to 4 cents an hour or whatever in China.

That's a huge cost difference. 99.9% of the cost is from labor, not shipping, retail or anything else.

>>How do minimum wage workers have "expensive" iphones then?

>>70582183

Not who you're responding to and I agree with most of the things you said. But the problem is that American leather jacket company won't exist or it will be super super small because they can't compete. Most people would rather get low quality/medium cost jacket over a high quality/high cost jacket.
