It's a cheap commuter school for people living in the city already. Go somewhere else if you want a college experience, want to network, or if you care about where your degree is from.
The average age at PSU is 27 -- lots of people are on their second shot at college, having dropped out the first time, or are military vets on the GI bill (the school was founded expressly for that purpose), and most students live far off campus and work at least part time. This recipe leads to a largely disinterested and disconnected student body.
Those who are there on a traditional "college track" (ie are attending right after having graduated high school) are usually either pretty stupid and mediocre, or are the kind of people who want to move to Portland from god knows where for college because the city is known for being a hyper-liberal special snowflake slacker's paradise. In other words, these are the typical BLM and Occupy fags we all know and love.
tl;dr - there's no real campus "vibe", the students who aren't leftists/retards are all 23+ and generally don't care about "activism" and just want to get their degrees and get out.
