College isn't just about "education" it's about positioning yourself in a way to be able to achieve more later in life.

You generally make friends from a different geo-graphical location

Meet new and diff types womYn

Meet professors who either challenge your perspective or advance your desired path

If you literally see college as HS v2.0 it's not for you - do online classes or trade school - but college in itself is a very beneficial experience for someone who can actually grasp the concept.

If you plan on living in the town you grew up in don't go
>>
the first college was never about getting a job

it was about keeping the knowledge of our ancestors alive to further our future generations
>>
in college now
desu not that bad senpai

>If you literally see college as HS v2.0 it's not for you - do online classes or trade school - but college in itself is a very beneficial experience for someone who can actually grasp the concept.

this.

it's not colleges fault that effeminate children like OP cant make most of it.

skipping college and working retail like a bitch is not better than going to college for gender studies and ending up working a bitch job anyway. they are both on equal levels of faggotry.

woah woah, i didn't type desu or senpai. Guess I'm new and just found out about typing changes?

The value of college depends on how well oriented you are to take advantage of it.
>>
>>69107131
Yea fuck off back to reddot nigger faghot
>>
>>69107077

not really. at least working retail nets you real experience, unlike college. collegefags who have never had a job are the worst entry hires ever.
>>
>calling higher education a meme

What is the average age of this board, 17, 16?

My career aspirations since I was a teenager required me to get a higher education and there's nothing wrong with that. Now I have a degree in psychology and I work in the field. You all really need some perspective and maturity.
>>
>>69107332

anyone who works a bitch job will learn basic work skills within a year. the jobs are plentiful enough and the positions replaceable enough where it literally doesnt matter who you hire.

anyways the point was less about retail jobs and more about how college is what you make of it. YOU are paying to go to college, therefore YOU are responsible for making the most of the opportunities there, of which there are plenty no matter what school you choose. the problem with college students (this included me back when I was there ~6-10 years ago even though i turned out OK) is like the other anon said, they treat it like HS 2.0 where you just "go through the motions" and expect things to fall into your lap.
>>
>>69105143
good luck working on a site for the rest of your life paddy.
>>
it's a meme depending on what you do and what you're there for

gender studies is a meme
most social sciences are a meme
stem is not a meme
if you have the brains to do research it's not a meme

That's fine, but don't go crying about your debt if you have any. Do what you want but don't blame someone else for the consequences.

I would have loved to go to a real college but I couldn't justify 40k+ a semester, so I didn't go.

it's easier to cheat the state when you're into manual work. All those activities where you never get a receipt (ever got a reciept at the hairdresser?) are very profitable especially if you're in good terms with your family and do business with them.

I'm used to be called a commie here.

I would love to know this board before republican cuckservatives migrated here and made this board their eco-chamber

>>69108528
And the thing that really bother me is that there is a large segment of your population that actively defends your tuition. There is tuition in my country uni (1000 euros per year) and the only people that defend those are gov officials and uni staff (The same that made their PhD without paying a dime in tuition).
>>
>>69108825
It was mostly libertarians before. I don't think you should expect 4chan to be full of educated, well spoken and thoughtful people who think of the big picture.

Question

How am I supposed to pay for college/housing if I'm going to become a full time student? I'm going to needs to quit my (good) job to become a full time student in my nursing program......

.....but where would I live? How could I accord gas money, food, car insurance, payments, apartment money, and college??
>>
>>69106969

...or you can travel and have a social life.

For fuck sake I don't even get out much and I meet people from all over the planet.

College is for people to incompetent to into life by themselves(sic).
>>
>>69108961
Well Ted Cruz's dad paid for college all on his own so you should be fine.
>>
>>69107542
Stem is a meme now

Getting the degree isn't enough anymore. If you don't know anyone in the industry, good luck getting a job in engineering or IT. There's no shortage of graduates looking for graduate level work, so companies also expect you to have experience on the side. You pretty much have to spend a year working on personal projects to have something to show so they'll even consider hiring you over one of the other hundreds of applicants they got.

>>69106325

>>69108921
But it's not only a libertarian thing anymore. If it was it wouldn't concern me. Libertarians will grow up eventually. But your only candidate that adresses this problem gets called a commie

>>69109006

>College is for people to incompetent to into life by themselves(sic).

>>
>>69109006
>people is for people to incompetent to into life by themselves

Or it's for people who want a career that requires an education, which is most of the good ones. Why are so many of you completely out of touch with reality?
>>
>>69109312
I know man, I'm just saying you shouldn't expect much insight and brainpower from this website that is notorious for being filled with angry children and failure 20 somethings who come here to yell at people on the internet for being normal.
>>
>>69108825
as opposed to before when everyone was just a straight up weeb
>>
>>69109355

How many people are really intelligent enough to be in those professional fields that require such high level study? Not many.

I'm talking about the push for every random idiot to waste 50-100k plus $100,000+ in opportunity cost on college.

Intelligent, hard working people are going to accumulate resources at a high rate with or without college.
>>
>>69108528
Its literally feeling like
>They paid THIS price?
>Raise the price.
>They seriously paid THIS price?
>Umm, try raising the price.
>OK you did not just tell me they paid THIS price?
>lol dude this is fun, raise the price, I can't believe my luck

Debt has made things too easy in the US.

Healthcare is the same. When anyone can pay for something every human needs because of insurance and debts, the prices have literally no reason to ever go down.
>>
>>69108961

>Bachelors degree
>such high level of study

You really are completely out of touch with reality. There are many fields where they really do require a whole new set of classroom education for a knowledge base. Just accept that you don't know what you're talking about. Know your place.
>>
>>69110190

>needing a bachelors degree

Quit trying to justify your waste you fucking idiot.
>>
>>69110369
Kid it's not my fault that you are literally a child who doesn't yet understand how many common careers require a bachelor's degree. You are a child having a tantrum right now, know your place.
>>
>>69110369
>>69110558
Don'treply to him. He has all the answers because he is a kid. He is never wrong. I to was once like this. But i grew up. But being in this place at such a young age is not very good. You should be with your friends making mistakes and learning. This place should come at a laater stage. You need some mental practice and knowledge to effectively browse this place. Else very bad things may happen.
>>
>>69110558

I bet I make more money than you dude and I definitely work less for it.

It's not my fault you're incapable of thinking outside the box and was taken by the college meme.

Intelligent people who are driven will accumulate resources at a high rate regardless of college. Its the tards that can't think beyond a job.
>>
>>69109974
Yes, the nursing "shortage" is just another entry in a long list of excuses to import foreigners; in this case, Filipino nurses.
>>
>>69111219

>>

>>69110558
High paying desk jobs require degrees. Blue collar work doesn't. They are both reaching pay parity because of offshoring and labor importation. It's just not yet worthwhile to import blue collar labor, but importation of white collar workers has been cost effective for a while now.
>>
>>69111461
If they got a tradeskill rather than a law degree, then the meme served them well.

This guy gets it.

I went oilfield on production side out of high school highest pay for level of cush.

I fucked off more than I should have the first few years, but now I'm really focusing on learning investing and exploring self employment opportunities.

Right now I'm catching up on education.
