I have a friend that did a tour of the Trump campaign headquarters, and he found this. A poster of an artists rendering hanging above a conference table. Trump is 100% serious about this wall, so much so, it will double as a HIGH SPEED RAILROAD allowing someone to travel from south Texas to South Cali in a matter of 8-9 hours.

I have not seen this before, and am probably one of the only people who has a picture of this.

So...naturally....i'm giving it to you, /pol/. Sorry the words aren't all legible. Just know that THE WALL is indeed a real thing that Trump is 100% serious about getting done. They have mapped out how to link it to the existing power grid, and how to coordinate with state governments to have it run uniform. It is so far in the design stage, most would assume it's already been approved and money delegated for it.

It is called the BEST system. Border. Energy. Security. Transport.

TRUMP IS BEST!
>>
Update: BEST is being floated as the name for the wall.

Trump: We have the BEST WALL! Border! HIGH ENERGY! SECURITY! TRANSPORT!

You get a wall, and mexico pays for it

because even mexico would love to have a fast rail transport from one coast to the other

The wall can keep illegals out, the train stations can function like airport security and border stations do already.

Everyone - mexicans and americans - benefits from the wall. On top of the fact that it brings in economic benefits be increasing the efficiency of travel across the states.

So, it's an elevated high speed rail system? What is it going to connect? There's not a whole lot of people that live along the US-Mexico border. I can see El Paso and San Diego benefiting from it, maybe Tucson if there's a spur to the north, but aside from those three cities along the western half of the border wall, what else is there? East of El Paso, you've got a whole lot of desert until you get to the far eastern end, where there are the relatively small towns of Laredo, Brownsville, etc. Would people ride this thing purely for the purpose of tourism? Because that will get old quick, and it won't be profitable.

You'd need repeated, continuous, high traffic use in order for an expensive public works project like a high speed rail to make any money. Trains cost money on a daily basis just to cover their operation, so if it's not making money, it would be losing money, actively. Just look at popular bullet train routes in Japan or Europe. Those trains transport large numbers of people on a regular basis in order to be profitable, and they cover routes that are 1/20th of the total length of the proposed US-Mexico border wall.

I seriously doubt that this is a Trump-originated idea. On the surface, it has the veneer of profitability, as if the border wall could pay for itself, but you don't have to think about it too hard to realize how unprofitable such a train would be in practice. It's much more likely that we're looking at a poster presentation for a high school or college class project.
>>
>>69931495
good point, but the idea of a train is just another part of the bravado that I think we need, I mean we spent a trillion plus dollars on some military plane or some shit thats mediocre.

A pointless, unprofitable train route that no one will ride and which will eventually be shut down and left to rust out of its tracks is NOT bravado. That's retarded. We literally already have rail lines in that exact area for freight. You don't build a high speed rail line for freight, anyway. That wouldn't reduce transportation costs, but would increase them. If you've never ridden a bullet train, the tickets cost more than a regular train, and there's a reason for that.

high speed rail facilitates trade by linking cities to ports(I'd imagine this would provide even more incentive for companies to move manufacturing back, especially if this transportation is subsidized in someway). the wall is connected to the power grid, allowing US companies to sell power to Mexico. It's also connected to desalination plants, so that's a plus.

What's naive is thinking the US will continue to pay 110 billion a year federally, and 88 billion from states in aid to your illegals Eduviges and Carlos.

is there even demand or a need for such a rail system? Because people tend to justify first why something should be built. I assume you're well informed about the matter?

also what makes you think we need to buy power, or that we'll buy it from you?

The US exports 2.35 trillion worth of goods every year, and if we bring back manufacturing jobs, that number will increase. A high speed rail system linking major industrial hubs in the US and Mexico to ports would cut down on transportation costs and time.

You'll buy power if it's cheap enough, nuff said. You can puff up your chest all you want, but if this wall will prove to be a net gain overtime for the US and Mexico, it's going to be built.

The welfare situation is a lot more complicated than just cutting off benefits. Many illegals are able to get counterfeit documents, or steal someone else's identity to acquire benefits. Their children also attend school, which costs the US govt around 13k per student. Illegal immigration also devalues wages and drives up the price of housing for many lower income and working class Americans. Also, giving these aliens amnesty and giving them a pathway to citizen ship would increase their tax burden by 2-3 times.

We're not filling in the blanks with out delusions, we're simply theory crafting the details we don't know yet. Trump is a man who took a multimillion dollar company and turned it into a multibillion dollar empire. Do you think he did that by making half-assed plans? Cut down on the tacos man, it's fogging up your brain. Or maybe you have an argument you'd liked to present, because all I see is doubt, questions, and machismo in the place where your argument should be.

In short, BUILD THE WALL

Hate to break up the party but the wall is not covering the entire border, there are natural boundaries along it

If the Wall becomes a success many countries will be interesed on it, it is a very good deal actually.

If you build it, they will come.

Once the border is secure, the region will be safe and ripe for development.

Prayers my mexican friend. I hope the wall gives you a chance to save your country.

That's just encouraging problems. Instead of three or four hot spots for border crossings - i.e., major population centers - as there are now, you'd be inviting the potential for hundreds to thousands of border hot spots.

This is awesome!

There has to be a better image of the poster or the poster itself in high definition. I would like a copy for my wallpaper.

Did you even read those sources before posting them/ Your first source claims that maglev trains can carry up to 19 tons of freight per section. Compare that to traditional train cars, which can handle 120-150 tons of cargo per car.
It's not even a comparison. Maglev trains are NOT viable replacements to traditional freight trains.

Your second article is referencing a very specific situation in which air freight - UPS and FedEx packages that would normally be carried by air plane - is being transitioned to trains for a relatively short route. That's not the kind of freight that people mean when they talk about "freight trains."

Your third and fourth articles specifically reference Chinese train routes that are some 8,000 miles long, from China to Europe, even extending to Spain. If high speed trains are the only thing that can make such shipments viable, due to goods spoiling, or competition from local sources, then obviously there's a case to be made for high speed freight trains. Obviously, that is a totally different situation than typical travel distances of trains in the US. So, no. It's not logical to say that high speed trains are a "viable option" in the US just because of some extremely long route across Eurasia which is only viable because of high speed trains. The routes in the US are already viable with normal freight trains. There is no incentive to upgrade them to bullet trains.

>where are your sources, tho??????
Fuck off, faggot. Just because you took an industrial engineering 101 class in college does not make you an expert on high speed trains.

Something is scary about the thought of being entrapped while in a car.

I hope these road ways has enough space for walkways, utility rooms and hatches to the outside for emergencies like the subways do.

I do not understand how the road ways will allow traffic to cross over to their designation. How will the subway system work for that matter. How will the people on the Mexican side of the wall cross over to the United Sates side of the wall? It seems this travel, at least for automobiles, will be a one way tripe from one side of end of the wall to the other.
