The law firm tried to protect itself and the confidentiality of its clients by denying that its Las Vegas operations, run by a company called M.F. Corporate Services (Nevada) Limited, were part of the Mossack Fonseca group.

The firm’s Panama-based co-founder, Jurgen Mossack, testified under oath that “MF Nevada and Mossack Fonseca do not have a parent-subsidiary relationship nor does Mossack Fonseca control the internal affairs or daily operations of MF Nevada's business.”

But secret records obtained by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, the German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung and other media partners, including McClatchy newspapers, raise new doubts over that sworn testimony.

Not only do they show that the Nevada subsidiary was wholly owned by Mossack Fonseca, but also that, behind the scenes, the firm took active steps to wipe potentially incriminating records from phones and computers to hide details of their clients from the U.S. justice system.

Panama Papers: Hundreds of Israeli Companies, Shareholders Listed in Leaked Documents Detailing Offshore Holdings

>A massive leak of confidential documents purports to show how allies of Russian President Vladimir Putin may be tied to a $2 billion offshore money trail.

>Close friends and family members of the Russian leader have benefited from their relationship with him with millions of dollars made in secret deals, according to The Guardian. The newspaper pored over millions of files leaked from Panamanian law firm, Mossack Fonseca.

>The documents were obtained from an anonymous source and shared by German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung and the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists with the Guardian, the BBC and other news outlets. The news outlets say the documents reveal that $2 billion has been secretly channeled through a network of banks and companies linked to Putin’s inner circle. The BBC says the files also show that the law firm allegedly helped many other clients launder money, dodge sanctions and evade tax.

>Mossack Fonseca did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Associated Press. A Putin spokesman said last week that it was bracing for an upcoming “information attack” and that an organization was trying to smear the Russian leader.

>Kremlin: 'Putinophobia' Reaching New Heights With #PanamaPapers Publication

>MOSCOW (Sputnik) – On Sunday, Germany’s Suddeutsche Zeitung published alleged documents from the Panamanian Mossack Fonseca company in which the newspaper confirms ties to a number of world leaders and their circles to off-shore schemes.

>The German publication specifically notes Chinese President Xi Jinping, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, Azeri President Ilham Aliev, Moroccan King Mohammed VI, Saudi King Alman ibn Abdul-Aziz al Saud, the late father of British Prime Minister David Cameron, and a number of individuals allegedly close to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

>“It’s obvious that [information hoaxes] have reached new heights in ‘Putinophobia’ that make it practically impossible to speak well of Russia or any type of actions Russia does, or any success Russia enjoys. You need to speak poorly, and you need to say lots of bad things, in an abundance, and if there’s nothing to say, then you need to whip something up. This is also obvious for us,” Peskov told journalists.

>"This information product was been created and is being promoted on our domestic political scene. This product targets our domestic audience. Despite Putin not appearing anywhere directly, and despite other countries and other leaders being mentioned, it is clear to us, of course, that the target of such information attacks is our president, especially in light of the upcoming parliamentary elections, and, in the long term, presidential elections in two years."

A Maltese connection surfaced with energy minister Konrad Mizzi, who was already outed as having used a Panamanian shell company, Hearnville, to hide his beneficial ownership; the company is owned by the trustees of his New Zealand trust. He is the only EU minister to feature in the list, so far.

In a statement released late on Sunday night, Mizzi said that the Panama leaks have confirmed that his "version of events, including disclosure, were truthful".

Over 8,000 protesting in Iceland Starting at 5PM UTC today

>Iceland's prime minister is under pressure to resign in the wake of the leaked Panama Papers, which showed he and his wife used an offshore firm to allegedly hide million-dollar investments.
Sigmundur David Gunnlaugsson should step down, former Social Democratic prime minister Johanna Sigurdardottir said on Monday.

>More than 16,000 Icelanders have also signed a petition demanding his resignation, while the opposition has said it will seek a vote of no confidence in parliament, likely to be held this week.

>According to the documents, Mr Gunnlaugsson and his wife Anna Sigurlaug Palsdottir bought the offshore company Wintris in the British Virgin Islands in December 2007.

>He transferred his shares to his wife in 2009 for a token $1. Mr Gunnlaugsson has denounced the release of the documents and called it a witch hunt against him and his wife.

Yes, but having a shell company is not necessary or sufficient for wrongdoing.

So you're going to need to give more evidence than just say "Someone is a shareholder of a Panama company" to prove guilt.

My gut feeling is that that won't happen though, and simply being in this leak will be enough for guilt. That has no basis in reason, but then, when did that stop people?

I understand the basic concept of a subsidiary, but how are they legally allowed to act as separate companies, even if they are considered "children" of the "parent" company? How is money transferred to a subsidiary for tax avoidance? Do they pretend to be buying a product from the subsidiary like in a money laundering scheme, or do they just straight up write a check to the subsidiary?

All economies did crappy except for China, Saudi Arabia and the USA. But it goes into details in various categories.

The 1% or .1% are doing well, but the middle class is hollowed out and the numbers don't help to show what is happening. But few nations are not in recession, even USA has Recession for 10 years as measured by GDP growth below 2.7 Percent (CNSNews.com).

SPE, special purpose Entity is a vehicle for some of these things. But that is why we need a lawyers to explain the system.

We know one thing.

The more lawyers the more our laws, tax rules, banking, finance become ever more complicated. They make a career out of making complicated things like Trade Agreements, Tax Loopholes. And our court systems require you to be rich to be able to defend your self. Any of that sound like Freedom. 10 year court battles for Banks who break rules and use Billions to defend.

The larger your company and the wealthier you are, the more you have power and control over the courts and the laws.

Bankers, Lawyers, and Corporations can do anything it seems. Wealthy people form corporations and trusts for their investments.

Trend is Outsourcing everything to avoid all rules in Regulations, in Banking Reports, in Financial Disclosures, in Auditing, in Accounting Rules, and in Financial Structures or Instruments... in addition to outsourcing jobs overseas to avoid Labor Rules and Environmental Rules.

So home countries loss jobs, gain welfare rolls, and loss control over economic capital and Tax Base (Tax Revenues). But basically there is lots of room for shady business:

- Money Laundering
- Funding Terrorism
- Using Slave Labor or shady Labor & Environmental Practices
- Hiding Money from your Government, your Voters, and people you stole the money from or ripped the money off from
- You could steal from a bank or steal jewlery, then just put it off shore

But you now have Off Shore Finance Centers that will lend money at different Interest Rates and not tax your company or trust at all.

So... this is like Elite Communist Party Members living the high life and not paying taxes or like Moralizing Western People having special privileges and no one to watch them or catch them.

Yeah I can't think any more. Rich people have all the angles worked out and by the time we are on to the game, they have moved to new strategies.

They just have to be able to undercut the competition with their product or service or provide a better service. usually this means economies of scale or using low cost labor. Or they just need to collect Usury on Loans, Credit and Debt. They can extract wealth from your economy just by you doing business with them in a different economy where the cash flow doesn't come back to your economy.

Like the Balance of Trade, Trade Gap, Trade Deficit. Money is extracted to foreign banks. This reduces money stock velocity... reduces the money circulating in your local economy.

>In the course of his investigation, Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau in charge of prosecuting the BCCI case had looked into Harken Energy: In a December 1991 story the Wall Street Journal pointed out

>''numerous links among Harken, Bahrain and individuals close to the Bank of Credit and Commerce International.'' Stephens is one of them. Several years ago, the Journal said, Stephens arranged for a Swiss bank to provide Harken with $25 million at a time when the bank was a partner with BCCI in another project. When snags developed, Stephens lined up Abdullah Bakhsh, whose business partners include an alleged BCCI front man and whose banker had been a large BCCI shareholder. Bakhsh became Harken's third-largest stockholder -- and also owns 10 percent of Stephens's Worthen Banking." (quoted in Common Cause Magazine, Spring 1992) "Stephens was the investment banker for Harken Energy, which in early 1990 won rights to drill for oil off Bahrain -- surprising since the company had never drilled an offshore well. Further questions were raised because presidential son George W. Bush, a friend of Stephens, serves on Harken's board. (The San Diego Union Tribune, 17 January 1992)

>Making shell companies is legal.

Sort of. Depends on what country you are in, and how you stack those shells.

In any event, creating shell companies wit the per-meditated intent and the actual activity of tax evasion is not legal in just about the entire world.

I owned one company that operated another shell company ... perfectly legal because all my paperwork was in order, openly declared and all of my accounts were in proper order with all taxes paid up in all relevant jurisdictions.

Had I used one or more shell companies to hide income and not pay taxes on it, I would have been criminally liable for tax evasion in at least three different countries, one being the U.S. and two being in the EU.

Your comment amounts to "Well, he certainly was drunk when he ran over and killed that child, But, he had a driver's license and it's perfectly legal to drive a car. So, he din do nuffin'z wrong."

I screwed up with this statement.

It is not one bank. It is foreign banks in general that the US Policies are forcing them to clean up, stop money laudering, stop having secret accounts, and stop opening accounts for US Citziens... the point was that foreign bank accounts would close and open them under a Rothschild Bank.

>CIA Leaked Stroy?

The Media is a big part of the US Govt since like WWI when propaganda proved itself. They may call it public affairs, public relations, but they also admit they pay Media people to work for them.

The Breadth of Government & Empire Functions is staggering if you include banking and supporting corporations.

Hell yes. We pay Telecoms to support our Defense Department and Homeland Security. Hell yes it could be a move by NSA, CIA, or Military Intelligence, plus some private Intelligence Agency like Chertoff Group (Who I know nothing about) or Stratfor.

THIS IS WHAT A WEB OF SECRET COMPANIES LOOKS LIKE.

>This is a data map of the intersection between clients, shareholders, companies and incorporation agents who have used Mossack Fonseca’s services. It represents just over a third of all the data we have access to through the leak. We’ve chosen to show you 115, 373 of the most connected entities so you can see how, in many case, individuals are actually related in some way.

>What does that say? It tells us that the people who create shell companies through Mossack Fonseca move in similar circles.

>You will notice the option to select, “Leticia Montoya”, who is a Mossack Fonseca employee. Through the documents we have connected her with at least 10,000 companies as a stand-in director or shareholder. Ms Montoya earns around $900 a month in the HR department of the company.

Many of you wonder about the presence or absence of American figures in the case. The data to which we had access indeed contain US citizens related to offshore companies established in Panama. But the data contain very few American public figures, most of them unknown citizens.

It doesn't as long as the dirt isn't unidirectional. I'll rejoice every time one of those thieves get exposed, but if it's just a way to make people support another self-righteous, more skilled thief...

Why are the Panama Papers getting everyone so worked up and upset?

He fucking sold his half of shares to his wife of the company he formed (and conveniently forgot to declare before taking a seat in parliament) TOGETHER WITH HER FOR ONE FUCKING DOLLAR. That is incriminating on so many levels.

So far there's no evidence that she did anything illegal other than keep money in a foreign bank account.
This isn't illegal.

HAHAHAHAHA holy fuck pol is so retarded sometimes. You've got autistic Germans claiming this is all a false flag for Soros and retarded Brits claiming this is all a false flag for the EU.

You're all a bunch of schizophrenic conspiracy theorists.

Because everyone knew, but not to what extent. Panama papers also reveal the extent of deceit, underhanded practices and lack of integrity of many high figure individuals in many governments abd high profile corporations.

So is Panama a tax haven? Any other athletes and celebs other than Messi and Jackie Chan? Maybe Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Sidney Crosby, the Kardashians, And other celebs?

>Soros is willing to throw a good chunk of Billionaires under the bus to stop Trump and other Nationalists
I've said it before, there is a civil war under the surface and a schism between the elites. This is going to have dire consequences as the ousted elites will fight back with everything they have and the elites still loyal to the Globalist side now are uneasy and have their trust wavering due to how Soros threw the others under without a second thought

We'll know soon. The leaks are so big. One guy at Süddeutsche said there's so much it'll take probably until the end of year.
>>
>>69893079
In the interest of keeping up with the ridiculously short attention spans of people these days they've decided to leak bits at a time. So only a matter of hundreds out of the 2 million documents have been leaked. In the coming days more and more will come out.

Yes. Though one can only fight against the flow of water for so long until one runs out of energy.

This has happened, this is currently still happening and will happen for as long as humanity and civilisation exists. The rich becoming richer and the powerful becoming more powerful is as natural as the world itself. The strong survive, the weak do not.

I suggest, since this information is now available to Joe Public, that we discover what other companies offer these services in tax evasion/avoidance (the legal one) and we use them to our advantage.

At the end of the day, we are just another species trying to get by. Why not use this to your advantage? Provide for your family, your loved ones? Let's all stop being so shocked at how wicked and evil mankind can be, get off our high horses and profit in the process.

Because of the raw numbers involved.

We're not talking about a few Mitt Romney's hiding $10 million offshore from the Mormon Church so he can cheat them out of his obligatory 10% tithe.

We're talking about tens of billions of dollars, probably hundreds of billions. All of it hidden from the economies of the world. All of it going untaxed. Much of it illegal and being laundered.

And it's not a couple dozen people. It's several hundred, if not a few thousand. With some of the names being very prominent in business and politics. People who are ministers, people who donate tens of millions to political campaigns to install pet politicians to pass pet legislation.

So, yeah. It's a pretty huge behind-the-curtain event and through the looking glass. Some very big names are going to take very big falls.

Consider it this way. A few years back the Swiss banking system had some sunshine spotlighted into it. There were some serious reforms, some few dozen people had to pay hundreds of millions in fines and back taxes. It was a pretty big event if you are old enough to remember all the way back to ten years ago.

That event is maybe 2% or 3% as large as this one. The sheer scale of it, the number of countries, companies and people involved, the fact that you can state the money involved as a large fraction of a trillion dollars (so far .. it may be more) ...

That's what's making it a staggering, big deal. Right now, people who "get it" are in shock at the scale that's been revealed so far. And the story has barely hit the news cycle. It's so fucking big that it's going to take dozens of news cycles just to get a grip on how big this is.

Can't wait until this is spun somehow into an attack on capitalism/ the Right

No need to wait. It already is. Just CTRL+F for "soros" in any and all of these threads and you'll see the entire thing is a "George Soros liberal hit job" to take down right-wing political figures. In fact, th exact phrase "liberal hit job" turns up regularly, as if it's a constructed meme. As if. Retards started in with that meme in the first thread posted on /pol yesterday.

Almost as if there are paid shills who watch political forums to make sure they can insert their paid-for memes into the discussion early and pollute it thoroughly before it gets out-of-hand and dangerous.

Almost. As. If.

It's close enough to tax havens like Virgin Islands that it's quick and easy to set up shell companies there that then do dodgy stuff without revealing owners
Basically it's paying 100k to get 3 million
And your only allowed in if you're a lawyer or already have millions - because tax inspectors only go after poor people who suddenly get cash
