The problem with Seehofer and the CSU in general is: We had our hopes high. But it turned out he was just talking and talking and talking, but actually did nothing. We should bring this back again. People ask why there are suburbs in Europe, but then they should realize that our city streets are filled with dirty cars. No wonder that suburbanization happened in the age of the car. In my city (Rotterdam) there are several forms of traffic, like boats, pedestrians, motorbikes, bicycles, scooters, trams, normal cars, and trucks. There are all driving around the same streets. The boats often use a canal. I don't know why we don't use canals for logisitcs so much, because that's for what they are built. This would reduce the amount of trucks in the city. Why don't we ban the cars in the center? Firstly, people could use metro's, bicycles and trams to visit the center. Secondly, when the cars are banned, the streets can be used for pedestrians for whom they are built. Imagine a city in which the people could look at monuments without the chance of being killed by a car. How nice would that be? Thirdly, when cars are banned from the center monuments wouldn't be damaged all the time by the cars and their emission. Fourthly, when the cars are gone all those noices will disappear. People wpuld be able to sit on a terrace again without being disturbed. Fifthly, a lot of the rich people from the suburbs, would come back to the city. This would increase the quality of the streets there and the income of the neighbourhood.
