Well the only times I got arrested really was when I was fighting at 14. That really wasn't a big deal because I was younger and they wipe your record after 2 years with no problems. I didn't get in trouble with the law for some time after that.
Then during summer of 2014 I got busted in Virginia with my buddy for having a half ounce. We didn't go to jail or anything just a promise to appear. I was able to get a lawyer and he pushed the date back a bit. My friend payed more for his lawyer and went on the actual day. The lawyer knew the judge pretty well it seemed so the judge was able to bring down the charges to intoxicated in public or some lesser charge. This really pissed off the prosecuting officer. So much that when it became my turn the officer didn't even show up, which meant my case got dropped. I found out from my lawyer that he did that all because he hated my friend and my friends lawyer.
So overall it worked out well for the both of us.

There used to be (still might exist idk) extra money from the government for hiring aboriginal kids out of school / dole, basically the govt covers half their wages. So i was paying these kids below average wages, and collecting cheques from the government to help me cover their employment costs (Pay them 12 bucks, got 10 from the govt, meant to pay them around 18-19).
Eventually i hired some kid with a bit too much white in him and he asked me why i had all abbo workers, gave him all the usual platitudes about giving them a chance, but he put two and two together and turned me in. Last i heard he overdosed in a commune in the middle of the fucking desert so i win.
As for how much, it only lasted 12 months but i was getting paid about 10 bucks an hour for 6 kids, they were on about 25-27 grand a year and i got 90% of that from the govt. So probably around 100 thousand bucks. The kids got about 6 months of their wages covered out of my fines, and really it was a drop in the bucket given i run other businesses, but whatever, been about 9 years at this point.

Well, since I'm a Canadian male, I was charged with domestic assault (seems to be a right of passage for us). Also, our bail system here is fucking retarded and complicated, also, I got charged just before Christmas, and wouldn't you know it, courts take time off. So I ended up spending 2 weeks in jail, spent Xmas and NYE there.
Let me tell you, jail is actually worse than it's portrayed on TV. Not that you'll get raped and murdered in there, that's actually unlikely. It's so much worse in other very important ways.
First off, forget having good access to your lawyer. You need to use the phone to call your lawyer/family, and 6foot5 Tyrone and his entire tribe won't let you use the phone, and the guards won't do shit about it, so you can't actually talk to your lawyer unless you bribe the nogs to let you use it. Even if you're a big guy, it won't matter, because you'll be outnumbered 5 to 1.
Also, there's no soap, there's no toilet paper, you have to wear thin clothing and it's fucking cold, like super fucking cold, so you're freezing your fucking balls off all day every day.
Oh well, I learned a lesson. Now I know, just simply being arrested and charged with a crime, even if you beat it in court, is a horrible, horrible experience, at least in Canada. I almost lost my job over it.
