But if that's true, let me theorize. Blonde men are less masculine on average than dark-haired men. So white women default to dark-haired men.
However blonde men are still very much more masculine than Asian men, so Asian women default to blonde men. Now there has to be an element to this relationship that would explain why the Asian woman ends up with the blonde instead of the dark-haired, since masculinity alone would suggest Asian women would prefer dark-haired. It could be that blondes are more likely to "downgrade" to asian women and so asian women are settling. I'm not confident that's the reason, but it's the best I could come up with.
