No. There is such a thing as a convention of the states, which is in the constitution and can offer amendments which would go to the states for ratification, like any other amendment. This could become no more a runnaway convention anymore than every session of congress is.
A constitutional convention implies they will produce a brand new constitution which would entirely replace all previous law. There is no constitutional provision for this.
