then they went into full backpedal mode and said that "even if the chemical attack was done by rebels, Assad is still evil".
rebel shills are dumb as fuck. maybe some day, they'll learn.

personally Im intrigued by this conflict because it finally seems to be one where the western narrative is on the losing side.

I told people when Libya had the civil war that it would only get worse if Gaddafi were to be deposed, and blabla evil dictator etc.. now these same people admit that Libya wouldve been more stable with Gaddafi still around. Hindsight is a bitch but people fall for mainstream media like dumbasses. That same media who now never reports on Libya anymore.

Gaddafi mightve been more weird and outlandish than Assad. But by remembering the shithole Libya become after Gaddafi's death, people realise that in Syria the same could happen and that these countries need slow changes in political system, not a removal of central power when 100s of different groups rival to be the new leadership.

Gaddafi's death may not have been in vain but has and may still open the eyes of people, and I hope Syria's destiny will be better than Libya's.

It's not like this war doesn't affect us as well, especially us Europeans. It has caused changes that may finally break the leftist dominance in European politics for the first time since the end of the second world war.

Besides, us Europeans have always looked beyond our own borders. It's in our blood.

Tbh most of refugees arent syrian,,they claim to be but some are even Jordanian or Lebanees. Still the war caused a shit ton of people fleeig the war to neighbouring countries.

The rapefugees are just welfare leeches. They do not go to safe nations, no they go to nations with the highest welfare. For examole Sweden, germany and England. They wait by calais to get some needbucks.

Still an interressting war non the less.

They go push for Sukhnah. Without Sukhnah the pocket east of Salamiyah is cuf off, since the SAA took the crossroads near Tabqah earlier this year. Qarytayn is already cut off with the capture of Palmyra.

With this, ISIS logistical capabilities will be severely diminished in central Syria.

SAA has begun operations to liberate territory East of Homs; They will clear that region of ISIS and they will liberate Qaryatayn. Once that is complete, we'll begin witnessing operations to liberate open a route to Deir ez-Zor, Fully liberate DeZ, then they will secure the DeZ provincial border along with operations to move westward into Raqqa Province.

Since Peace negotiations are ongoing, The South, along with Idlib will continue to remain as they are.

Usual Lurker here, why does everyone believe the SAA will push to Dier Ez-Zor straight away? Would it not be more prudent and sensible to close the Homs and Hama pocket which ISIS holds to control more of central Syria. This would relieve garrisoned defensive forces holding the line and protect their flanks (think about Aleppo road that got cut a while ago.) Just my 2 cents. It would also allow them to advance to the Euphrates in a multiple pronged attack instead of a straight salient. Hopefully the Russians are ontop of this.

Also reports of Manbij offensive starting.. maybe Turkey will kick up more shit if the SDF/YPG do take the city, who knows...

Point 1. I don't know. Everyone here is an armchair general, so we don't know what the SAA presently is planning. However, there is evidence to suggest the SAA will liberate that territory east of homs.

The issue at hand is - How long will it be before the SAA liberates Qaryatayn and begins it's next set of offensives?

The manbij offensive may fail; I was recently told that the offensive to capture Manbij failed twice. If this is true, then It shouldn't come as a surprise should the YPG fail to capture it a third time.

He's right, though. Rand was the only committed non-interventionist. We have no way to determine how Trump would actually behave if he became President. I kinda feel like a lot of people on /pol/ are setting themselves up for disappointment in that regard. >Much like its intervention in Ukraine, Russia has been slow to announce the deaths of any of troops in Syria — usually acknowledging them months after the deaths occurred. To date, Russia has acknowledged the deaths of seven Russian service members in Syria. According to Kofman, Russia has been more open to announcing deaths in the fight for Palmyra. The deaths, he said, reinforce the image that Russia is primarily operating in Syria to defeat the Islamic State. Still, there is a limit to the openness. The Russian government has not disclosed the total number of casualties in the fight to retake Palmyra.

Qaratayn while not important to take the fight to ISIS, is important to deny them a good staging ground. Much more importantly is the crossroads that lay to the east. Remember the war in Syria is more a war over highways than it is a war over land.
It is difficult to move supplies and armies over the desert landscape, even if it is just open land. And so highways are of vital importance to move troops and supplies around quickly and safely. You saw this with the Aleppo highway.

As for what the next goal is. Likely As Sukhnah, which lies between Palmyra and Deir ez-Zor. It's capture will be needed to lift the siege of Deir, but it will also effectively diminish the power of ISIS in the oil rich area of eastern Syria.
I strongly suspect that after that the major aim will be to link up with Deir er-Zor via Palmyra in order to lift the siege and allow the troops that have been fighting in Deir a well needed respite. And start bringing more humanitarian aid into Deir for the people.

After that it is hard to predict what the next move will be as far as major offensives go. The move towards Al Tabqah has stalled, but may be restarted. That would put a dagger right at the throat of the capital of ISIS of ar Raqqah, and likely draw in a lot of ISIS' fighting men to retake or stall it. Kind of like how the British held Caen and used it to draw in all the German forces so the US could break out for massive territorial gains as part of Operation Overlord.

Also do not worry about the various small pockets. they are being slowly taken out if they are Islamists. And if they are rebels that are part of the cease fire, they aren't going on the offensive. What's more, many of them are even switching their allegiance back to Assad or simply laying down arms in amnesty deals.

The important strategic goals for the SAA are:
1) Lift siege of Deir ez-Zor
2) Secure borders so as to deny rebels safe supply routes
3) ???
4) Profit!
