I think it really depends. If an economic crisis happened while a socialist or a globalist was in charge, it definitely would lead to conflict. Even larger and more powerful governments would emerge who would try to fix things by force and conflict. Everyone wanting to take control in the strife that follows. A globalist led America is always willing to cause chaos to preserve itself, as we saw when the CIA started the arab spring to counter Russian geopolitics.
On the other hand if someone like Trump was in charge, tensions with Russia would loosen and international policy would see a major shift.

Russia is flexing its dick big time and a resurgent militarized russia is the biggest nightmare of this world. Man forget the fucking muslims.
But maybe its only Putin, he's literally the last cold warrior active in the world and the last one who knows how to REALLY play the game, which is why he's so successful at dicking the limp-wristed west. His aides are generations apart though so once he dies maybe we'll see a complacent russia again.

This period marks the beginning of an age of reform. Governments in the middle-east are reforming and a reaction in radical islam is born from it. Putin's regime is doomed for failure, and could not successfully fight the USA in a war. It would be a slaughter, their entire military is designed for repression, not conventional war with a superpower
