I was 14 when I lived there. There are no bicycle paths on normal roads. When you use the pavement, it's impossible to pass the old singaporean zombies that take up the entire concrete slab that's raised 10 cm above the ground, so it's dangerous to go down and around. Besides that, they walk impressively slow, and are completely deaf, so there's no point in using the bell. If you go on the road angry drivers (especially bus chauffeurs) actively attempt to murder you.
The only place to use the bike is for recreational purposes, around resevoirs or along stinky canals. The recreational utilities are top notch though, much to my active satisfaction.
