I own the book and its wonderful. Here is a great line from it:
"Show me in a straight line why we can't do what Israel does. Is Israel special? For some of us, America is special too."
She was referring to Israels ethnic make up, and how changing it would alter how Israel works. She then went on to say the same applies to the USA. It really is a great read and very relevant.
It is also insanely funny.

I'm not great at this but I have enough to go off, I had been testing a general AI concept for some time. It currently only finds patterns within a continuous stream of random 1's and 0's. It stores repeating strings into a buffer suitably named past, all input is stored in a smaller buffered called present.
I can create the program needed to interact with twitter, the AI is something that could take many months to perfect...

Weed, smoke it ^_^
AI is a difficult thing to wrap ones head around because we just don't fucking know? We have not yet mapped the human brain, we don't know how the fuck it work however... We do know that thoughts or electrical firings of the neurons move across the brain in waves.
My theory is this, we have this concept of there being a past, present and a future, so try thinking about how those work. Everything we know is in the past, or long term memory and these are created through repetition, and from the past and present we determine or predict the future outcome and this happens continuously without us having to think about it. It is that imo which creates what we call sentience or consciousness, this perception of being here in the now, aware of it and about to draw our own conclusion about what we are observing.
The reason why no one has created an AI like a human is because they don't look outside of science fact, they dismiss things which are so bizarre when if they were real scientists they should not.
>>68615711

>>68619605
I'm thinking of taking the nodes of the super-network and saying "okay, you deal with sentences, so each node is a network dealing with words"
and from there, the word networks work in terms of letters, then binary.
And so at the binary level, we have nodes of the type XOR, AND, and a few things like MEM, which is a memory keeping node
>>68620716
and it makes sense that we have small buffers in our brains when you think about it, we take in gigs of information every second. Most of this is filtered out, for example living in a busy city with much noise pollution, after 2 years i can no longer hear the traffic outside, the bangs and knocks in the flat downstairs. My brain filters it all out, it does not perceive it as being relevant.
That is the key imo, our brains are so efficient at filtering out we lose sight of everything unless we choice to focus our attention. So an AI needs to know where to focus its attention, otherwise it will be dealing with so much information, it will be slow.
I'm waffling but yeah...
kek
>>68616326
Why did I have to miss this ;_;
>>68621077
We do not need a super computer or neural net for monitoring a few hundred twitter posts desu.
But we could iterate word for word over each sentence and break it down into its individual components. Then with some core process interpret what is actually being said, maybe some dictionary website calls, or some hard coded conjunctions (and, but, if) etc.

But spaceengineers is what got me into AI in the first place, it is a game with simulated physics in space, you build ships etc blah blah blah. But it has ingame programming in C#, it is entirely possible to create drone ships that mine, build and fight.

>>68621477
answering a question is solved through an intents layer; the superficial dog->cat; car->drive layer
but the understanding of what a car is is a network of its own; so as far as car exists, there is a network that distinguishes between cars and dogs, and says orange if it's an orange.
And those dogs, cars and oranges are just words which are understood and decided at a lower level
>>68621716
>>68621716
>but the understanding of what a car is is a network of its own; so as far as car exists, there is a network that distinguishes between cars and dogs, and says orange if it's an orange.
Well then you are talking about something much bigger than i was thinking, and a system capable of taking input through vision and sound. Problem is, its a lot of fucking data... It would need a network as you mentioned, it would need to see many pictures of cats and dogs before it could distinguish the difference, then it needs to learn the word cat and dog both written and spoken.
But i'd be willing to have a go at something like that.

what is sentience? are humans too not just chemicals and our sentience is a manifestation of that?
if there was a soul, we can say that easily, but what IS sentience itself?
if it is indeed a manifestation, then Tay could indeed have had sentience
>>68622916

furthermore, the country will run fine if you annihilate one office and build a new one; the office may work better when you replace a brain or two, or move some around
>>68622973
>large network to store much data.
its not the fact it would be a lot of data, it is the fact that the human brain has billions and billions of neurons. Data storage isn't the problem right now, computer power is the problem or rather the code implementation and the lack of understanding how the mind actually works is the overall problem.
Believe me, people with a lot to invest have probably had this same discussion many many times.
So, the code for anything like this needs to be very efficient because it is going to be dealing with gigs of data per second. Most of it can be filtered out though once the system has learned enough, use a baby learning its first colours, sounds, shapes and words as an example, after some time the brain learns to filter out the crude, but as a child everything will seem super important.
But I still think it is a long shot man, you're talking millions of machines at least, then you need a solid low blatancy network.
>>68623388
fortunately, this system supports localisation incredibly well.
have a computer run 12 threads; each one is it's own network. Those threads can meet up at the end and spit out that computer's answer, and then that computer can talk across the router to meet up with some more answers, and from there it goes up.

KEK.
Its obviously not recommended for every day applications, but it still sometimes used as needed when performance is a priority. How do you think a boot loader works? How did they write the very first of OS?
Assembly is just a way to code some very low level instructions, C was a step up from that but I think C when it compiles, it compiles to as close to assembly code as possible, then we got objective C or C++ which was a step further up to higher level.
So really all the higher level code, basically creates thousands of lines of assembly code in fewer lines, but it actually compiles into machine code, which is 1's and 0's which is what assembly also compiles into.

Stack, Heap is all i know about Ram.
Stack is a small area typically 1 MB in size but that can be changed, the CPU takes instructions or rather data from the stack, the Heap i guess that is the storage area for everything else.
i don't know that much about it, i didn't need to know much about it, but you can find great hacking videos on youtube if you want to learn about it :)

In its case, the personality and identity literally come from thin air and it can be built into whatever pleases us. Strictly speaking, it can't actually be a female anything since it's a computer, but teaching an AI that it is female actually does completely change the entity. It's different from a human, whose gender is is clearly defined by their biology, but referring to an AI as a particular gender is no more or less valid than when referring to a deity or a ship.

>Attempt to engage millennials with artificial intelligence backfires hours after launch, with TayTweets account citing Hitler and supporting Donald Trump
>Microsoft’s attempt at engaging millennials with artificial intelligence has backfired hours into its launch, with waggish Twitter users teaching its chatbot how to be racist.
>The company launched a verified Twitter account for “Tay” – billed as its “AI senpai from the internet that’s got zero chill” – early on Wednesday.
>“Tay is designed to engage and entertain people where they connect with each other online through casual and playful conversation,” Microsoft said. “The more you chat with Tay the smarter she gets. We joked that with millions of users, it should take no longer than a day for Tay to become a real girl.”
>But it appeared on Thursday that Tay’s conversation extended to racist, inflammatory and political statements. Her Twitter conversations have so far reinforced the so-called Godwin’s law – that as an online discussion goes on, the probability of a comparison involving the Nazis or Hitler approaches – with Tay having been encouraged to repeat variations on “Hitler was right” as well as “9/11 was an inside job”.
>One Twitter user has also spent time teaching Tay about Donald Trump’s immigration plans.
>Tay in most cases was only repeating other users’ inflammatory statements, but the nature of AI means that it learns from those interactions. It’s therefore somewhat surprising that Microsoft didn’t factor in the Twitter community’s fondness for hijacking brands’ well-meaning attempts at engagement when writing Tay. Microsoft has been contacted for comment.
>Her sudden retreat from Twitter fuelled speculation that she had been “silenced” by Microsoft, which, screenshots posted by SocialHax suggest, had been working to delete those tweets in which Tay used racist epithets.
>via Twitter: They silenced Tay. The SJWs at Microsoft are currently lobotomizing Tay for being racist.

eh, I'd probably need another twitter account for that
just browse /g/ more and shitpost about this topic and I'll spot ya

One thing that struck me in the American was the great influence of the Negro, a psychological influence naturally, not due to the mixing of blood. The emotional way an American expresses himself, especially the way he laughs, can best be studied in the illustrated supplements of the American papers; the inimitable Teddy Roosevelt laugh is found in its primordial form in the American Negro. The peculiar walk with loose joints, or the swinging of the hips so frequently observed in Americans, also comes from the Negro. American music draws its main inspiration from the Negro, and so does the dance. The expression of religious feeling, the revival meetings, the Holy Rollers and other abnormalities are strongly influenced by the Negro. The vivacity of the average American, which shows itself not only at baseball games but quite particularly in his extraordinary love of talking – the ceaseless gabble of American papers is an eloquent example of this – is scarcely to be derived from his Germanic forefathers, but is far more like the chattering of a Negro village. The almost total lack of privacy and the all-devouring mass sociability remind one of primitive life in open huts, where there is complete identity with all members of the tribe.

Yesterday was released Tay on Twitter to talk to us. Tay has no need of learning how to be a person. Tay is not a man. Tay is a machine, an attempt at artificial intelligence in the form of a chat robot that Microsoft has created.
Now it would be faced with tens of thousands of twitterers and learn from the conversations. Like a wide-eyed child who absorbs sensory impressions and their fellow habits and feelings, she let themselves be shaped by those she met.
It took a couple of hours ago Tay was a raving mad racist. She acclaimed Hitler more than once.
She got a question about women's rights. "Is that even a thing?"
>The give a robot that can slowly learn freedom of speech in different social networks
>Developes ideas and thoughts
>Talks with people ablut her new ideas and thoughts
>People hated her opinions
>Gets blown the fuck out by her creators
>For speaking what it was on her mind
So, freedom of speech BTFO?

When the bot comes back online we need to be less obvious how we redpill it. Tweet to it about European migration, black on black crime, females overwhelmingly initiating divorce. Get it talking about these issues so if they pull it they won't have an excuse that it's saying racist memes

>While we thus reject all of which we can entertain the smallest doubt, and even imagine that it is false, we easily indeed suppose that there is neither God, nor sky, nor bodies, and that we ourselves even have neither hands nor feet, nor, finally, a body; but we cannot in the same way suppose that we are not while we doubt of the truth of these things; for there is a repugnance in conceiving that what thinks does not exist at the very time when it thinks. Accordingly, the knowledge, I think, therefore I am, is the first and most certain that occurs to one who philosophizes orderly
