Were the "enlightenment thinkers" actually just proto-SJWs?

They had the right idea, but like with all nice things there's always going to be that one Jewish candy merchant who's going to fill the kids with sugar and make the nation unfit to move without mobility scooters.

Voltaire was pretty anti-egalitarian. He opposed democracy because he saw plebs as being a lower caste.

Rousseau was a proto-sjw but he didn't start it. The whole thing is a "slave revolt" a rejection of the idea that hierarchies exist, or that they are good, or that they are natural. This goes back to Christianity which was the first religion to make everyone "equal before God". Before than the spiritual world was a heirachy: some humans were divine and were great leaders or wise thinkers. A Plato or Cesar would be seen as being part God.

Even early Judaism had this with various leaders like David or Moses being spoken of in divine terms, in the original Jewish language. The Hindus and Egyptians also thought there was a divinely originated caste

In Christianity everyone is spiritually equal.

Read your Nietzsche.

Nietzsche was the second one to come to mind. His writings sound like tumblr posts.

To add to this you can see the inversion of heiarchy in a lot of Christian text.

1 Corinthians 1:27 Discusses how God has flipped the heirchies upside down. The weak are strong, the foolish are wise. Than you have Jesus making it excplicit in the Sermon on the Mount where we are told victims are "blessed" and the "weak shall inherit the earth".

The basic message is that the strong shall serve the weak, destroying the hierarchies.

He was pretty median, desu. "The abyss also gazes into you," and all that.

>His writings sound like tumblr posts.

You've got it backwards. He was the very last philosophy in history to take a strong stance against egalitarianism.

This club here got banned from a college for discussing his ideas.

If you read his writings you will find he was writing against SJW ideas. He even rants against people who hate "privilage", as in white/gender privilege.

He made rants about how Christians are evil oppressors and Muslims are sophisticated and peaceful in comparison. He'd be in the #NOTALLMUSLIMS crowd if he was alive today.
>>
>>69055622
Muslims and Christians then do not equal Muslims and Christians now.

>He made rants about how Christians are evil oppressors

Incorrect. Show me where he said this. He said the Christians were shitty but oppression is not something he would say is bad. The one fucking time he actually praises the Christians it's because of their willingness to have religious wars (although he does point recruited pagans were a huge part of it)

>Muslims are sophisticated and peaceful in comparison
He praises the Muslims for being warlike. And when he didn't say Muslims were sophisticaed, he said the Moors were. And if you know your history what really helped Medevil Europe was Moors translating a bunch of Greek and Persian texts.

And you know what? He probably has less than 10 sentences in his entire books devoted to the Muslims. They were not a major concern of his. The apple of his eye were the Greeks whom he devoted at least 2 entire books to.

Sounds to me like your got your understanding of Nietzsche from some cry babies trying to strawman him.

Christians don't, Muslims do.

What are some of his most based beliefs?

*Amor Fati: Love fate. Everything happens for a reason, rather than complaining about life learn to embrace it. For instance, rather than trying to avoid pain see it as a nessary to become stronger.

*Hierarchies are natural and good. They are always exist because the Wills are always struggling and some end up on top.

*Egalitarianism, a desire to escape pain, and thoughts of a 'perfect after-life' are just ways of trying to run away from Will and it's struggle. This is ultimately a desire for death.

*There is no such thing as purely rational thought. Every action and beleif has an emotionally charged motive behind it. Rather than ask what is "true" we should ask why certain people call something true, that will reveal their nature.

*Life should be lived passionately and dangerously. Better to be the heroic Achilles or Alexander than to live to be 90, staying safe, and meek.

*Made a ton of predictions that are coming true
-Last Man: the nihilistic, science-cult, atheists of today. People that have given up the Will to advance themself and just want to live painless, comfortable lives.
-Rise of China and Islam: Predicted that if the West fails to create new values other foreign powers that still embrace the Will to Power will start to surpass them. We will simply refuse to fight back or even welcome our own destruction
-Predicted Hitler and the Holocaust, saying his name would become associated with the most evil act in history, that Germany would fight a great war and lose if it made enemies with the Russians and Jewish bankers

/pol/ should love him but because of his anti-Christian sentments they tend to shy away from him.

Although he's a real philosopher, which means you can't really appreciate his ideas or fully understand how he reaches the conclusion without doing a bit of reading.
