If you have the mental capacity to install a safe in your house you can get approved for a gun licence here. If you're not quite capable of installing a safe you literally tell the police you'll leave your guns at your mate's place and they will approve you.
That's how it works here. Gun laws vary a bit by state. The gun licence test here is literally a 10 question multiple choice booklet. Once you pass that and show the coppers a picture of your safe at home they give you your licence and you can as many guns as you want. Getting approved for a semi-automatic rifle is pretty much impossible though.
