What is your stance on the death penalty?

Japan just executed two murders and "human rights" whiners are whining.
>>
For me it is not about human rights, but about government rights. The government ought not have the authority to kill its own people. Granted, with due process perhaps it isn't terrible, but nonetheless the government should not have these rights.
>>
It saves a lot of tax money and is probably more humane than life imprisonment anyway. I think it should definitely be an option for the worst criminals and enemies of the state.
>>
I think the death penalty should have never been abolished in France. We don't have a true life sentence, our prisons are overpopulated, there isn't enough money to sustain our carceral and judicial system. Since there is no death penalty the relieve jails, the socialist answer is to reduce the sentences of people already in jail, as well as to reduce the possible sentences for people currently being judged, and asking judges to be less severe, and let out shitskins scott free (as worst some probation time) for most crimes.
That's why we are a joke of a country, that's why shitskins don't respect us, that's why they kill our people on the streets and can do whatever the fuck they want in complete impunity.
It's time to bring back the fucking guillotine.
>>
I'm all for it.
It's more humane, and cheaper than jailed for life.

I'm in favor of it, but it needs to be carried out more quickly.

For example, the death penalty costs more tax payer money than sentencing someone to prison for life because of all the additional court fees.

The death penalty should only be used if we can be absolutely certain that someone committed the crimes (like video evidence) or if the person accused of committing the crime admits to it.

If there is concrete and undeniable evidence that the person is guilty of a heinous crime, then I'm all for it. Nothing makes my blood boil more than the fact that we house our criminals in such good conditions here. Take Anders Breivik for example. Now for the sake of my argument I want you to imagine that he was a brown Muslim who killed those 70+ kids. Would you really allow him to continue existing in such comforts backed by taxpayer money? No, you wouldn't.

Would love it here in Ireland.

People like to criticize execution as glorifying revenge rather than enacting justice.

I used to be opposed to execution for that reason as well. I used to see it as degrading to the human species, that we would be so barbaric to stoop down to the level of killing each other in the name of justice.

But...what exactly is wrong with wanting vengeance? If someone kills your brother or your lover, or anyone else close to you, what is wrong with wanting vengeance? If someone commits a heinous act that devastates a community, what is wrong with that community it's wanting vengeance?

Once I started asking that, I realized execution has a variety of benefits. It prevents vigilantism, it allows people to seek vengeance and obtain closer in a controlled manner, that way there is no question that they got the right guy and there were no circumstances that might have excused the behavior on some level.

I'm still unsure whether or not to support execution, but I'm certainly friendlier to it now.

>It saves a lot of tax money

>Yasutoshi Kamata, 75, was hanged in Osaka for the murders of five people – including a nine-year-old girl – between 1985 and 1994, according to Japanese media.

>Junko Yoshida was convicted of killing two men in the late 1990s to obtain life insurance payments. The 56-year-old, who was executed in Fukuoka, is the first woman to be hanged in Japan since 2012.

I wish they would find a way to bring the dead back to life because some people deserve to be executed more than once
