These two forces combine to form one of the reasons why Mexico does not want a strong border along the US/MEX division. Right now, Mexico is pushing all the illegal immigrants they're getting from South/Central America up toward us, shuttling them as quickly as they can. If the border slams shut, they will be stuck dealing with those monkeys on their own. Again, this is only one of many reasons for why Mexico cannot afford for the US to slam shut the border, but it is a compelling one.
