Midwestern schools were largely untouched from the 70s up until the early 2000s when most of them finally had their interiors renovated. It was really strange, schools felt like they had more age to them then.
>>

Before the internet was common, it took years for fashion trends to make their way from cities into rural areas. Same with most music. Movies didn't have much of a delay (a few weeks to months) but for the most part you could take a trip back in time by going into areas of lower population density.

This is still slightly true today but that has more to do with the conservative nature of rural areas rather than lack of access to the latest trends.

All part of the leftist modernist push to erase all history so they can usher in a soulless globalist era devoid of respect or tradition. If they can destroy your ties to history, they can destroy the culture.

I was born January 1992, so eight years at the start of the millennium. Even I remember this America, but had started to forget. The propaganda machine is excellent. Before Trump I was wondering how much of an outsider I was. An extremist like the media tries to label? But back then even Hillary was against gay marriage. It was only 20 years ago, so the silent majority remembers.

That's one of the dark parts of Ronald Reagan's legacy. He wanted to be president but it was socially unthinkable for a man who had been divorced to become the face of the nation. So he introduced no-fault divorce to the country and promoted its spread across the nation as a conservative value because "it got government out of your private affairs". His goal to normalize divorce worked and a decade later he was able to win the White House.

Obviously there were many other forces at play but no-fault divorce was one of the killers of the nuclear family. It's the foundation upon which the entire corrupt family court system has been built.

This. As a babby who was in the education system from the turn of the millennium up until 2013, it feels like a completely lost world that I watched slip away before my eyes. I remember the first few years of elementary school looking somewhat similar to these photos, with an all-white student body except for one black kid.

Then more and more Mexicans and Central Americans moved in every year until high school graduation. My graduating class was still mostly white, ~75% I'd wager, but when I look at the kids in school now it is as if I've been transported into a foreign country.

Shit wasn't even that different. In fact, all of the reasons we're in the mess we're in started in the late 70s/early 80s.

>Or even jut riding bikes around town with your friends, kids can't do that anymore.
Fucking pedo scare ruined my body. (I was born in 1997)
I used to be fit and shit as a kid but after around 2010 no one went outside anymore. It happened gradually but through my preteen-teenage years i had no social life outside of school and never went outside. Sometimes on weekends my neighbors would be playing with RC cars or something but everyone always eventually had to go here or there after an hour.

Every social occasion has a thick atmosphere of awkwardness now and everyone has hidden contempt for everyone else. I rarely "hang out" with anyone without it being eerily awkward and silent. In fact, I rarely "hang out" with anyone anymore compared to my childhood. It seems that asking someone to come over your house now has very inappropriate connotations, and can offend people. You can't even just "hang out" with anyone without any kind of entertainment, it's always movies or concerts or blah blah blah. I just want to chill and talk to someone without having to entertain them. In a society that's more open about taboo subjects than any society in history we're very closed to actual social interactions.

That's one of the things that bothers me about the world we live in now. The people born ca 1890-1930s are gone or dying out. We'll have no people left with living memory of a pre WW1 or WW2 world, a pre-sexual revolution world, before all the leftism and wars that has shook our world. The "old" world, the old societies that are constantly denigrated as being bad and horrible will be gone and replaced entirely with what is propagated now unless we literally destroy the current system and try to create something entirely new. A frightening concept in my opinion.

The Baby Boomers were able to experience this world for so long that they think it still exists, all the while the West is being invaded and bred out of existence.

The kids that have been born since ~97/98 are unable to fathom that anything like this could have ever existed. All they know "diversity" and a lack of social cohesion and trust.

Gen Y/Late Gen Xers were the ones who got to experience it for just a few years only to watch it disappear forever. We were on top of the fucking world, /pol/. We were so happy because we had no idea of the multicultural horror that would follow. The minimum amount one has to earn to live in a reasonably safe neighborhood is greater now than what can be earned from most jobs 18 year olds are qualified for. That's not just because of wage stagnation and factory loss but also because housing costs have risen faster than inflation while crime has spread to be more evenly dispersed. There's no longer a strong divide between the dangerous inner city and safe suburbs. Now parts of the city are gentrified while older subdivisions have turned into ghettos. You can to pick carefully now where you go and be ready to move on when the area changes quickly. Cheap housing in the suburbs now tends to be dangerous.

2bh, the "diversifying" (see: ethnic cleansing of whites) of midwestern and northeastern towns that we see happening today was already beginning to take shape in the southwest back in the 80s/90s. We truly need to go back to 1965 to fix this shit.

That's another thing you can't do anymore. Schools literally warn people not to go door-to-door selling stuff, and to never put your phone number in a public place.
Plus the fact people can just buy it cheaper from Mexicans for 25 bucks a month.

>Europe has fallen, and the U.S. is not far behind.

Europe has a higher % of white people, though.

I grew up in Boston. I'm turning 25 in two weeks. While growing up, I remember almost exclusively white people (micks and some italians in the North End), along with the occasional black.

I visited my mom at home a few weeks back, and downtown Boston is NOTHING like I remember. Tons of brown people, everywhere. Much fewer whites. And this was in the rich area.

Our city centers in the US are gone. Tell me, where in the US can you find a major city that isn't a multicultural shithole? Maybe the pac northwest? And even then, you're surrounded by SJWs

America is lost. The big change for me was that I noticed that I no longer enjoyed living in the city anymore. I LOVED it as a kid. Boston was clean. Friendly, in-shape, attractive white people everywhere. I go back and I don't enjoy it nearly as much. I'm much more inclined to the 'burbs.

This isn't because I like the suburbs, but instead it's because I HATE the surroundings in the city. Dirty darkies everywhere shitting it up.

Funny thing in the 80s. Coca-Cola had a wildly popular clothing line. Sure, you can buy clothes now that have Coca-Cola written on them but this was popular fashion. Think they even made bluejeans. The irony is that Coke's spokesman, Max Headroom, actually warned us about this future in his tv show.

I'm very curious to see what happens to the real estate market if Trump actually does build a wall and deports even half of the illegals here. Even if they're living half a dozen to a house, that's still a million housing units being put on the market in a short period of time. Should make housing at the low end affordable though the crime issues will still need to be sorted out.

I noticed shit really went downhill around the late 90's, even before the whole 9/11 fiasco. I remember that's when obesity really skyrocketed out of nowhere. Essentially, around the same time Rocket Power was a huge hit, and it was cool to wear baggy JNCO jeans. No, not the raver ones. The nigger ones with the wallet chain, and when people wore cheesy dragon graphic tees with a Chinese dragon and wore Birdman Lugz. Coincidentally, there was a brief Mexican trend in there where people talked like Cholos, and Mambo #5 had its 15 minutes of fame.

Anyways, at that time, people became fatter, just wanted to lounge in their spoils of soda, giant TVs and new N64 games. The same time when people constantly went to Burger King every week for a Pokemon toy for the kids, who sat in front of the TV. The same time when mothers would coddle whiny children immensely and shut them up with an ice cream. The same time when "husky" was a Jean size. The same time when kids wore shirts in the pool. The same time when Krispy Kreme opened up more locations. The same time when N64 shelled out games. The same time when Mexicans came in en-masse.

The great thing about Jews is that they're so lacking in empathy and self awareness that they never see the next holocaust coming. Jews continue to jew right up to the second the sword goes through their body. Even then, their fellow Jews will run over to steal all the shekels from the body. The post war sympathy from the six gorzillion has allowed your people to engage in an overshoot of epic proportions. The blowback is going to be off the charts in severity.

It was a family event too. Sure, you could ride your bike (or later drive your POS car) there but families would go to the mall together. Our mall had an ice skating rink, which was a big deal for the middle of Alabama.

Think the mall was another victim of multiculturalism. Teens were one of the backbones of the mall economy. When gangs moved in, even if they weren't real gangs but just everyone hanging out with their own ethnic group or race, conflicts arose. The malls had to start placing restrictions on when teens could come into the mall. Different groups tried to show up each other and the mess scared off the regular customers while the spending power of the teens that remained tend to go down as immigrants had less money to spend.

its amazing how night and day early gen Y (80's-early 90'2) is to late Gen Y (mid 90's-2000)

late Gen Y arguably has far more in common with Gen Z, with the difference that at least they still had some ok cartoons growing up, since shit that came out in the early-mid 00's wasnt too bad, although it was the beginning of the end, since by then cable started to kill local TV. Kids WB became 4kids TV some time around then, and most of the better cartoons were on cable.

I guess it's more to do with early Gen Y getting to know the pre-internet and very early internet era. before social media, before viral videos, and before omnipresent online marketing. Also, the pre-cellphone days. back in the 90's and early 00's, the only people who had a cellphone were adults. It was a grownup thing. businessmen had them mostly, but maybe your dad had one because it was trendy, but used it no different than a house phone on the go. i was born in 91, and while I remember pagers being "cool" and all that, I didnt get my first phone till 2009. And it was a shitty prepaid flip phone. i didnt get a smartphone till like halfway through college. maybe '12 or so?

younger kids though came of age just in time to be swept up by the "everyone has to have a phone" trend. EVERYONE had a sidekick. And later an i-phone.

I remember when Spencer's used to sell those things like hot cakes once those came back in style for a bit.

Anyone else get one?

Yes but keep in mind we empowered them with money for oil and then the Jews opened the door for them to move into our societies. Without those two things, Muslims would be something you know about due to watching Lawrence of Arabia and not give much thought to ever again.

Honestly, even that isn't bad... Don't worry about it.

Trust me, I used to drink a handle a day. That shit ain't healthy even when not on SSRIs.

It's kind of crazy how different pre- and post- internet is, in terms of persons raised in either.

As much as I LOVE the internet, pre-internet -- or even early-internet (late-90s, I mean; early in the boom sense) felt better to me. It wasn't so ingrained in our culture and things still felt close, if that makes sense.

I wonder if the warnings against drinking on an SSRI are from genuine risk, the fear of a fraction of a percent of people having some weird reaction, or just from the legal team covering all their bases.

I hope to God that Trump succeeds and restores this country.

If he fails, the only thing left is some kind of ultranationalist military coup that restores traditional values at the point of a gun. That's pretty much what it would take to turn back the clock on the leftist cancer killing our once great country.

I don't buy that though. I've heard the same argument before but I've never understood it. Yes vidya and tv and internet is convenient and stimulating but that's because you're used to it. If you had a summer home or a cabin somewhere peaceful and you went there for an extended period of time you'd gradually relax and care less and less. Unless you have some sort of legit ADD then you might be in trouble. We're overstimulated nowadays, going out to the country for a bit can be amazing once you get over the lack of bleeps and bright lights in the city.

>>68070830
Phones with internet access is going to be another cultural dividing line. I used to plan community events but stopped a few years ago because no one can commit to anything anymore. They have their phone with them, get a notification from Facebook that there's a beer festival going on and ditch everything else. I thought at first it was just me but lots of event planners, community and professional, say the same thing. The smartphone has killed community and commitment even further. Everything is now about this moment with very little thought about even an hour into the future.

What was it with the 80's and 90's and wearing shorts? I remember in the 90's my mother always wanting me to wear shorts, and I hated it, since she always wanted to dress me. Once I got a bit older, I refused to wear any.

Why? Why shorts? Shorts are the worst. I feel so exposed and even though Im thin as a twig, they make me feel fat, and people may see up them and spot my junk. (A girl did in kindergarten saying she could see my undies when I sat on the floor)

because for all the writing on the wall and catalysts for what we have today, the 90's were the last hurrah of western civilization before it's collapse.

it was a time of optimism. we were not involved in any major wars, the president was a cool dude who went on the "hip" talk show of the time, the Arsenio Hall show to play the Sax with a pair of ray bans on.

it was the intersection of traditional family culture and childhood social life, with the advent of modern technology like cell phones, videogames and the primordial internet

Sure, Bill signed into law NAFTA which started siphoning jobs, but that didnt happen right away, and the tech boom and .Com bubble means the economy was in overdrive still.

this was before Global terror, when taking a flight was simple and hassle free, as was visiting a national monument. if you wanted to see the Statue of Liberty you just bought the tickets and waited in line to get on the boat, and then when you got there, if you wanted to climb it, you just bought tickets on the spot and went up.

theres no denying that shit went wrong in the 90's, but at the time, nobody knew that. hindsight is 20/20, and everyone was sure the future would be bright.
